iPauley Back · 19 years, 1 month ago
Mmmmmm panera.... great food, and free WiFi! :-D

panera, please. their tuscan chicken sandwich and their strawberry poppyseed salad rock my world, as do their ic honeydew green tea and ic cappucino chip. yum.

or, for delivery, pockets all the way. their calzones and salad make me far too happy.
ChrisChin is Getting Old Back · 19 years, 1 month ago
I fifth Panera. They're Pepperblue Steak Sandwich is to die for as well as their soups with come with a big chunk of yummy french bread. I'm only able to go there when I visit my sister, as there aren't any in NYC.
A girl named Becca Back · 19 years, 1 month ago
We just got a couple upstate, so they'll probably be making their way down to you all soon!

Patience, precioussssss.
:)
Andrea Krause Back · 19 years, 1 month ago

We have lots in CT. It surprises me they're not in NYC.

Shelly Back · 19 years, 1 month ago

AND they're lower-carb!!!!!!!!

{the asiago cheese bagels, that is}

lawrence · 19 years, 1 month ago
of the ones listed, McDonald's. other, though, because Boston Market and Quizno's are not listed, and those are the only fast food places where both 'fast' and 'food' are accurate.
nate... Back · 19 years, 1 month ago
boston market... no... but quiznos does actual good food, so I'll have to agree with that.

I am amazed, personally, that they actually exist.... I've never seen a chain/fast food place deliver that level of quality.

Bender Back · 19 years, 1 month ago
I can't eat McDonalds. I feel logy, queasy and irritable for the rest of the day.
Annika · 19 years, 1 month ago
Taco Time is my favorite.
iPauley · 19 years, 1 month ago
...if you call it "fast food," I really like Subway.

I had a Burger king thing when I first came to Oregon. They had vanilla bean cheesecake. The BEST under $5 cheesecake I'd ever had, it had this neat yummy spicy taste.

Now I hate Burger king because it was all a tease, the vanilla bean cheesecake was only there for a limited time. Now they have this fiesta cheescake which is alright but it has caramel.. which I like, it's just not my flavor right now.
*prays to the burger king gods to bring vanilla bean back*

*joolee* Back · 19 years, 1 month ago
I'ma subway luva too. And yeah, it's considered fast food. Mmmm veggie burger w/cheese, lettuce, ranch dressing, salt, pepper, and vinegar!
Talcott · 19 years, 1 month ago
I think I have to go with taco bell. I mean, it's by no means good, but it's tasty, and back when I was a veggie, 7 layer burritos were the saviors of road trips.

When it comes to fast food, I've always been of the mind that it should be rare, but because of that rarity, it should also be more tasty than healthy. All of the ads for happy meals with fruit kind of depress me, only because it my mind, that's something you get once or twice a year. It's ok to be a fattening treat then. You can get a fruit cup from Kroger.

I don't think I've even heard of In & Out Burger, and I've only once been to a Jack in the Box.
A girl named Becca Back · 19 years, 1 month ago
I've only heard of In & Out Burger because my (super mature) male friends like to talk about it so they can make dirty jokes.
nate... Back · 19 years, 1 month ago
Hehe.

In and out.

But yeah, it's a left-coast thing.
renita Back · 19 years, 1 month ago
actually, it's just a california kind of thing (unless they're in oregon now)

Andrea Krause Back · 19 years, 1 month ago
I wasn't impressed with it when I visited....though locals love it to death. Just wasn't to my taste.

El Pollo Loco though...*swoon*
Joy- new picture! Back · 19 years, 1 month ago
I -love- El Pollo Loco!

*mouth waters*
Annika Back · 19 years, 1 month ago
Not in Oregon yet. I'd only heard of it from Unwrapped on food network.
George E. Nowik · 19 years, 1 month ago
well -someone- had to vote for jack in the box. d:

taco bell used to be a close second, but i'm finding that its appeal has gone out the window since the people i used to enjoy it with are no longer here ...

-= george =-
Annika Back · 19 years, 1 month ago
Jack in the box is great because of their variety.. and of course the double fudge cake and cheese cake option. *yum*
George E. Nowik Back · 19 years, 1 month ago
definitely a good degree of variety there. several different types of horrible things, but so good all at once. (:

Andrea Krause Back · 19 years, 1 month ago

I just flashed back to my faux pas when I went there with you...unintentionally asking loudly if that's the place that had the poisoned burgers. :)

George E. Nowik Back · 19 years, 1 month ago
heehee! oh man, i totally remember that now. that was some fun times. now i'm suddenly craving jack in the box. waaah!
K-Lyn · 19 years, 1 month ago
Burgerville all the way. Their Turkey and Garden Burgers are the best. I fell sad for anyone who doesn't live in the Northwest!
Bruce Rose Back · 19 years, 1 month ago
Burgerville is my favorite thing about roadtripping to Oregon. I'd be happy just to stop at The Dalles and turn around, but that's a long drive for a burger.
renita · 19 years, 1 month ago
harvey's.

yum.

i really really want to try in and out burger.
Talcott Back · 19 years, 1 month ago
At my first frshow, (Columbus, OH, Ludolows, fall of '98) the lads broke into the Harvey's theme. Paused, looked around:

Jian: "You guys don't eben have Harvey's down here, do you?"
Murray(I think): "This is our news song. About a guy named Harvey, who makes a great Burger"
Jian: "I like, totally, liked that song about the french fries"
Andrea Krause · 19 years, 1 month ago

I don't care what anyone says (nate), Taco Bell is miiiiighty tasty to me. Particularly the chicken supreme chalupas.

Arby's is my second choice. Don't know what it is about those roast beef sandwiches. Intellectually I know I shouldn't like them but they are sooooo delicious to me.

My REAL favorite fast food is El Pollo Loco but that's a California (mostly) chain and I've only had a chance to have it once. Er...well...more like 5 times in the course of one 6 day visit. :) OMG tasty.

nate... Back · 19 years, 1 month ago
awwww... I get love for my hate.

;)

incidentally, I *did* eat at taco bell occasionally.... it's just that, you have to buy, like, 5 of their tacos to have it constitute a meal.

Not a fan of arby's though.

sheryls Back · 19 years, 1 month ago

omg, so with the taco bell! last night my parents asked me what i wanted for dinner and i so said taco bell. because the nearest one to me out here in MA is like a 30 minute drive :P

my usual includes: Double Decker Taco Supreme, Bean burrito (no onions) and a regular taco.

Rachel Marie aka RAI · 19 years, 1 month ago
For breakfast, I *heart* McDonald's sausage egg biscuits. Oh they are wonderful. And I only allow myself to eat them once in a blue moon, 'cause they're not exactly healthy for you.

Wendy's otherwise, 'cause their salads are actually decent, and their chicken nuggets are all white meat.

Oh! And FROSTIES of course!
A girl named Becca Back · 19 years, 1 month ago
Oh, man, sausage biscuits. I'd forgotten all about the sausage biscuits. YUM!

Wendy's is still my fav but they lost a lot of points when they ditched the pita things. The chicken caesar pita was so awesome! (Though difficult to eat, which I suppose is not an advantage in the fast food world.)

Is Kenny Rogers still around? All the ones around NYC are gone. They were the best.

Now I'll take Popeye's.
Andrea Krause Back · 19 years, 1 month ago
I think it went away. At least all the CT/MA ones did. I liked it.
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 19 years, 1 month ago
I loved the Seinfeld episode about it too. I got addicted to Kenny Rogers right before the first time they showed it.
nate... Back · 19 years, 1 month ago
Isn't he some country singer?

Andrea Krause Back · 19 years, 1 month ago
Yes. He also had a chain of rotisserie chicken restaurants.
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 19 years, 1 month ago
His music was bland but his chicken was marvelous. I have to admit I did like The Gambler.

Added note for baseball fans. He is no relation to the pitcher of the same name.
nate... Back · 19 years, 1 month ago
I only like the gambler as performed by Fountains of Wayne.
Jºnªthªn · 19 years, 1 month ago
I get a headache every time after eating Taco Bell. MSG maybe?
trunger is counting... · 19 years, 1 month ago
mmmmmmm.....White Castles......
Talcott Back · 19 years, 1 month ago
Still haven't managed to see that movie.

But I'll put in a partial vote for White Castle. Sometimes you just need a slammer (or two, or three)

I mean, who doesn't love steamed onion burgers? ;-)

Nik Chaikin Back · 19 years, 1 month ago
I *LOVE* White Castle, unfortunatly there are none around here so I have to make do with frozen.

Running after a jackrabbit.

Did someone already make that joke?
Annika · 19 years, 1 month ago
I was recently introduced to Carl's jr. They have sandwiches with avacado on them making it my favorite fast food burger place.. I wish I was eating there now.
nate... · 19 years, 1 month ago
I guess I'd go with Booger Fling or Wendy's.

But, for other, I'll choose quizno's.... or d'angelos.

stealthlori · 19 years, 1 month ago
... or ye olde supermarket salad bar. Genuardi's in particular is teh awesome -- a mere $3.69/pound for healthy fresh complete meal, featuring a wide variety of choices and comparatively little fat or non-nutritional calories/processed carbs.

I only go for fast food if none of these (or a local analog) is available, or if I'm having one of my couple-times-a-year 'MUST HAVE FRIES!!!!' attacks.
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 19 years, 1 month ago
Healthy? Bah! You probably make healthy margarita smoothies with whole limes in them.
stealthlori Back · 19 years, 1 month ago

Yep. Using my earth-friendly solar-powered blender.

And the ice? It's made from Miraculous reCycledgay water.

Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 19 years, 1 month ago
The Miracle WWV cycle

Water to Wine to Vinegar then back to Water.

I forgot why it is gay.
stealthlori Back · 19 years, 1 month ago
something related to homogeneity. i can't remember either. it's another miracle that we ever remember any of our idiotic conversational digressions. :)
ChrisChin is Getting Old · 19 years, 1 month ago
The "fast food" that I eat the most these days consists mainly of Cosi, Au Bon Pain, and Quizno's with the occasional Subway binge when I have a strong desire for lots of veggies. I love Cosi's flat bread.

I prefer Wendy's over the other fast food burger chains. I'm also a big fan of Arby's and Chick-fil-a, though it's hard to find either around here and I do admit to liking White Castle. even though I would have to eat like 6-8 of their burgers to feel full.
