About You:IM: NothingLikeDeSun Hello there. I am Lauren, or Laur, or Lorin, whatever suits your fancy. Or "hey you" or "E-C." I have graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a major in English and a minor in Women's Studies and one in Spanish. I am currently studying at the University of Arizona. I also put out a zine called Galatea's Pants. But the tragically hip just call it "Pants," (much like the tragically hip just say Fruvous, EFO, DVN, TMBG, BNL, and GBS) I am trying to work up a crowd of followers called Pants-heads. Because I want to be that cool. I first saw Moxy Frvous at the Philadelphia Folk Festival in 1999. I was there with a boy I was rather smitten with, and I had never heard of these guys before, so unfortunately I probably did not appreciate it as much as I would if I saw them in concert now. I only remember three songs: "Dancing Queen," a great song they wrote about Philly ("Edgar Allen Poe on the radio . . ") and "The Drinking Song." Although I do remember saying, "hey, that guy with the long hair is hot." My best friends at college are fruheads, and they turned me onto more of the music. I was involved in the peace movement two years ago, and listened to the Gulf War Song repeatedly. I got all the albums after that, and well. . .fell in love! (and the sun shine shone from the sun shine above) Aside from being a Fruhead, I am also a Punk Monk, which is a combination of Fruhead and WA9 Perfect Damn Fan, for a singer-songwriter by the name of Stuart Davis. Basically I'm a member of his street team, and I've made it my mission to turn all my friends onto the wonder of music genius that is Stu. So, ye Fruheads, get thee to StuartDavisDOTcom! Or ask me about him. Beyond Fruhead and Stuhead, I'm also a Suehead (Susan Werner), a Dar-ling, a Sib-ling (Jane Siberry), a Parrothead, a DVN't and a Babe-head (Four Bitchin Babes). others i love; The Nields, Heather Nova, The Modern Lovers, Alisha's Attic, Deirdre Flint, G. Love and Special Sauce, QKumba Zoo, Gorky's Zygotic Mynci, Juan Luis Guerra, Billy Bragg, Arrogant Worms, Great Big Sea, Barenaked Ladies, Trout Fishing in America, Billy Joel, That Dog, Melissa Etheridge, Josh Groban, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Garbage, Apocalyptica, Rasputina, Phil Ochs, The Clash, The Klezmatics, We're About 9, Girly Man, Brave Combo, Bob Marley, The Beach Boys, The Beatles, The Doors, The Kennedys, Crooked Still, Rushad Eggleston and his Wild Band of Snee, Snake Oil Medicine Show, Eliza Gilkyson, Lucinda Williams, Annie Wenz, Fountains of Wayne, Rhett Miller, Damien Rice, Rufus Wainwright, Loudon Wainwright III, Catacoustic Groove, New Model Army, They Might Be Giants, Richard Thompson, Greg Brown, Fiona Apple, Nellie McKay, Sarah McLachlan, The Weakerthans, Nickelcreek, Fairport Convention, Ian Dury, Heather Alexander, Three Dead Trolls in a Baggie, Tom Lehrer, Uncle Bonsai, Indigenous, The Prodigals, John Eddie, The Bobs, The Crimson Pirates, Gaelic Storm, The Old 97s, Firesign Theatre, Sweet Honey in the Rock, Enya, Hildegard Von Bingen, Vienna Teng, Randy, and 80's hair bands
