Ouch - obviously not a fan of Jian's....

Well, when you're tuning in to the station that's claiming to have the best coverage of this festival, and all you get is someone repeatedly commenting on the "vibe," I don't imagine you would be too thrilled with 'Meshi, l.

And I thought that piece was great. Of course all that was "necessary" was a paragraph on the poor quality of coverage, but if people only wrote what was "necessary," you'd get concert reviews like, "It was pretty good." Or editorial pieces like "Our government has the collective intelligence of a pair of socks, as demonstrated by their recent action." Or humour columns like "My toaster caught on fire today. The end."

It certainly made me feel better for having gone; I was starting to think I could have seen the exact same thing on CBC if I'd stayed home (I couldn't see the stage, just a large screen).

Oh, silly. The coverage wasn't that bad. I only caught an hour of Newsworld's coverage, but from what I saw it was damn interesting. I saw a backstage interview with Sam Roberts, and also watched Jian interview the one guy from CNN who was actually there. It was all terribly interesting.

Also... that article was supposed to be funny? It was a satire? Of course it's going to be making fun of its subject? I enjoyed the coverage. And since there was no other coverage to compare it to, I'm not about to start complaining. The end.

I think you are on crack, because she looks nothing like Jian. (Just incase you forgot, here he is:

Jian is such a game show host in that picture!

Annika Back · 21 years, 8 months ago

I don't know Andy, there is something about her that reminds me of Jian... Not sure what exactly.. Maybe the hair??

Annika Back · 21 years, 8 months ago
Oooh! I think that's it!
Arbie Back · 21 years, 8 months ago

heh heh. There is a small resemblance. And she was an intelligent, politically savvy , liberal thinking person. My god, I think they're clones. :-)

To be fair, the reporter didn't like anybody. What a crappy filler piece anyway. All the story really warranted was one or two paragraphs about what dumbass broadcast restrictions they were under. Andwhich obviously, given the hype particularly by M3, they didn't expect. For the amount of money that was put up to do this gig, I think sombody dropped the ball big time negotiating away broadcast rights.

Actually, Barbara Frum is dead.

She was an extremely hardnosed journalist. One of the best.

nate... Back · 21 years, 8 months ago
So?
It's quite likely that she turned Jaci into a newt BEFORE she died.

*shrugs*

"Jian is such a game show host in that picture!"

Either that or an early '80's (not '70's) porn star. Hey, he said it himself! (>Play reference.)
