Random Thoughts 2
I had the most random thoughts last night. I'm going to list some.
-What if the whole world stopped spinning? Would we all go flying away? -I had some weird image (caused, most likely, by a lack of sleep) in my head of me falling in slow motion into this enormous hazel eye, hitting the pupil and sinking in. The eye seemed to be made of something exactly like water. -I think there should be a robot that flings emoticons at buildings to destroy them. He should be called EMOTITRON!!! (The exclamation points are obligatory). -I think I may have accidentally conditioned myself somehow during high school to get no more than five hours of sleep every night. yo, ok, responses!! if the world stopped spinning, we WOULD fly away... if the centifugal force keeping us on the ground stopped, we'ed fly into space and die. ?-) I stumped my high school Physics teacher with this one. He was really glad that I waited until after class to ask him. (after studying constructive interference in the form of the sonic boom) My Question: If it was possible to travel faster than the speed of light, would there be an optic boom? His response: Don't you have another class? My reply: Yeah. I'm your teacher's assistant. Take your time.
A fair number of such lobsters are actually bred for consumption in lobster farms, they are not wild which is a common misconception people make.
So would you save shrimp, fish, or other such seafood? What about plants? They are lifeforms too, so are you going to start taking out salads and trying to replant them? Now now Andy, flaming has its own forum now. :-) Anni, I'm sure somebody will correct me if I'm wrong but I think the lobsters you buy in stores are an east coastspecies. Even if they would live if you released them it probably would be a bad thing to release them on the west coast..
they'd die...they wouldn't be accustomed to the openness.
Not really, but every time I sneeze my youngest cat flies off the bed like a bullet from a gun. It's rather amusing. :)
Hmm...I thought they were fairly common, but maybe that's because my house was built in the 50's and I think this apartment building was built in the 70's, judging by the colour of the appliances and fixtures. Maybe they don't do that popcorn finish thing anymore to new places.
Instead of flat plaster or paint or whatever, this plaster gunk is put on with a special roller and it makes bumpy plaster roughness. Looks like someone dropped a bunch of very small white gravel onto the ceiling. :) It's presumably to hide any imperfections in the level of the ceiling--you know, if it's all bumpy and weird to start with you won't notice that there's a dip or something? :) I've always had them too. I hate them. We were moving furniture into the new place this week and the mattress scraped a bunch off the ceiling and it's in the rug now. :) I destroyed the stuff in my bedroom growing up. My friend Katie and I threw blended up orange pulp at the ceiling (No, I don't know why. shut up.) and I also used to spray a stream of water with a water bottle up and that killed spots of popcorn. No, I don't know why. I was a desctructive person for some reason. I always wanted to see what would happen!
Mine have been more of that layered spackle feel. I remember as a kidI saw characters in the ceilings at the house I grew up in. There was a cartoon snake wearing a sombrero and little red riding hood and the wolf and a rat and monkey that were friends. I miss that house. I want to see Senior Snake again.

Today isn't the birthday of anyone on FHDC. If everyone had a birthday listed the probability of hta happening today would be about .0000006. That's about six out of ten million.

Saw a guy walking back and forth on the street today in Manhattan, propositioning every single woman who walked by. One woman walked away from him with a hug look of disgust on her face. People suck.

ok, ever looked at your hand and seen a disticnt black outline? think that's your aura? what about aliens; are we really alone? isn't it neat how in pregnancy that there is a LIVING THING inside you? or....ummmm how does the universe go on forever? it's gotta stop somewhere!
If the fetus is in your stomach, you've done something wrong.
Though possibly tasty... my friend Joe not long ago started talking about fetus with kimchi for some reason... he wasn't quite sure why either. That's kinda gross. Sorry. it's gross, and it makes you sick, and it makes you fat, and it makes you look deformed. But there are some good things about it. It is kind of cool to have another person (or living thing, however you want to look at it) inside your body. It's kind of sci-fi, like you are an incubation tank for an aquatic, but constantly morphing being. When it gets towards the end you can see the baby move its arm or whatever from one side to the other. Sure there are downsides, but what really meaningful thing doesn't have its trade-offs?
Well, it's cool if you want it. If you don't want it, it's not so cool.
yeah, it totally can be, I'd assume... but if it's unwanted, then it's going to feel more parasitic and gross, and the negative will stand out... even the things that some would consider positive would be percieved as negative.

ok, it bug the HELL out of me that when people from this region are going to the beach for the week/weekend, they say 'i'm going down the shore'. shouldn't it be 'i'm going TO the shore'? philly isn't exactly on on the shore....
like, if they were already AT the shore and walking or driving DOWN it further, then it would make sense. *pet peeve* they also tend to pronounce WATER as if they were saying 'wooder'. freaks.

this occurred to me a couple weeks back: why is it, that addresses are written with the most precise location first? like, Mr Jian Ghomeshi because if you had to find the address, wouldn't you go to the place at the bottom first, and then work your way up? like, you'd go to canada first, then to bargainville, then to matheson park etc, and then find mr ghomeshi (hee) last and give him the mail. so, i propose addresses should be written as follows: CANADA i'm not sure where the postcode should be, though. (damn! a flaw in my logic.) :D It should be right after Bargainville, I believe. You go to Canada, Bargainville narrows it down to a town, postal code narrows it down within the town if there are multiples. :)
Well, i'm not sure how it works in Canada, but in the US, if you have all 9 digits in the postal code, that alone is enough for the letter to get where its going (but don't tell the post office i told you so). If you only have th first 5 digits, however, then yeah, it would go after the town.
*nod* yep. I don't know the extra digits for most people, though. Or myself, even. :)
Not quite... but it will get it close. I once moved across the street (from 1002 to 911) and the ZIP plus 4 stayed the same.
This is just a guess but I think it is because when you give an address to someone local you don't bother to use the most general information, the country, state or province, and town or city. Even when posting a letter you don't list the country unless it is international mail.

After reading a post about TGIF, it made me think about how moronically STUPID thosebig radio shows are with theirFriday programming, going all nuts and crazy like every weekend is going to be the biggest partyof the century? You know what I'm talking about.... "It's 5 O'Clock,so let's get CRAZY!!!!" * whistle blows * * cartoon sounds &insert Homer Simpson quotehere * Cue "Bang The Drum" by Todd Rundgren..... My cousin who got married last weekend met her husband at a TGI Friday's Bar.
I knew there was a reason I don't listen to commercial radio except for classical music, sports, and news.
That and the 45 minutes of commercials per hour.

And Traffic, don't forget traffic. 1010 WINS and NJ 101.5 both rock for that.
When i said news, I included traffic and weather. I have 880, 1010, and 1130, on my presets so I can get the traffic and weather on the eights, ones, and fives, respectively.
An interesting note, without revealing names one of the meteoroligist for Bloomberg radio, 1130 in New York, is a Fruhead who was at FRFF. She's heard throughout the entire Northeast.

Have you ever noticed that there is a canonical order when naming the Beatles? It is always John, Paul, George, and Ringo.
I think it's mostly because people are used to it that way. You hear a pattern one way long enough and it's incredibly hard to say it another way. Like, because of loitering in the lobby I can't really name EFO off not in the "julie, mike, eddie and robbie" order. :)

I'm only mean to people I like or love. I'm extremely polite to people I dislike or have a beef with. What's up with that? Are y'all like that?
It's like...I trust the people I like to know I'm joking around. And I don't trust myself to let any of the real meanness out to a non-friend for fear that it'll keep spewing. :)
I have the "bitch" gene. :) Or maybe it's overcompensation because I am SO shy and withdrawn and avoid conflict at all costs in normal life. So I have extra yuck to spew on my friends. Sigh. :)
I am too! I make fun of you for being a freak and old! :)
yes, but you need to make fun of him *more*.
i should start giving "making fun of gordon" lessons. :)
You mean you don't already? I thought it was the most popular online class.

nope, i get that all the time. i think it happens when my ebil dial-up decides to be slow and doesn't load the page properly, and so i have to disconnect and try again. :D
I dunno. But you'd probably get your ass kicked for being a big dork. :)
Paul Newman wrote a column in the Times saying he was going to sue he Department of Housing and Urban Development because they infringe on his trademark "HUD." The ads from the film clearly stated that "Paul Newman is HUD."

hmmm, I've been thinking, your body is filled with uncountable amounts of cells, keeping your body alive, hmmm, are these simply natural pieces of our body, whose only purpose is to sustain our liveliness, or are our bodies simply gigantic cities that house microscopic lifeforms, is the heart or the brain like a factory, do the cells work in these factories? Do they get paid to keep them moving, when we die is it simply because one of them goofed and we there was a gigfanitic blackout? do the cells have families? Do they support themselves, what do they use for currency? Are we simply puppets? Do we have free will or are our actions the brainchild of the city council of the cells? ACH!

I've always tried thought of the great battlefields of my body, when the evil germs (like the Black Nights) attacking and the White blood cells (the White Nights) are fending them off, and I automatically think of those battle scenes from Polansky's McBeth, very graphic.
I've seen places that had "expresso' on the menu *shudder*
My favorite was a stand that had kanishes on the menu. It took me a minute to realize they meant knishes.

Received in an e-mail today.... Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in
The first time I read LOTR it took me a while to distinguish Saruman and Sauron, they have so many letters in common. All of a sudden I was wondering where the extra syllable came from?
When they made the annimated LOTR they called the white wizard "Aruman" about half the time. That was really confusing.

There is a rule in my school saying that cell phones must be off inside the building.
The first day of class in the outline I give them I tell them that the punishment for a cell phone ringing in class is beheading. Today in class someone's cell phone went off. He answered it adn started talking. What do you think I should have done?
Do you want to perform the honors? Will an Aerobee do?
Absolutely not. Has to be a regulation weight discraft ultimate disc. 175 g or its no good.
I once saw a website where a kid demonstrated how ninja perform ritual suicide (when they're really pissed off) by swallowing a frisbee. I still wonder how he feel for surviving the experience.
Not to be nitpicky, but the White Queen never said that. It was the Queen of Hearts. Different book, same author. The White Queen just blathered on about bread and butter and jam every other day.

sometimes, i get nostalgic about foods that i didn't used to like... like, a food that is one of my favorites now that i was once convinced I hated, I'll start to remember how it tasted backk when I was still convinced that I didn't like it but it was just starting to intrigue me. Its the same flavor, but it just has some sort of different quality that I wish I could get back. Maybe its a thing about getting older and losing taste buds or something.
