Poll: Does this sound like fun?

Okay...as some of you know, I'm also a member over at the Straight Dope Message Board, which shares a lot of similarities with FHDC...including that the people who congregate there are all OVER the country.

So, one thing that they've done at least once is they pack up a stuffed animal, a disposable camera, and a list of names and addresses, and ship it to the first name on the list, who gets all the local dopers together, has a party, and takes pictures with everyone and the stuffed animal, add something to the stuffed animal (clothes, decorations, or other accoutrements), pack it all back up again, and mail it off to the next person on the list.

As I see it, the purpose here is two-fold. The first is that we get pictures of fruheads from all *over* the place (which I intend to put up on the web, if we go through with this), and the second is that getting the package gives us, a community that hasn't had whole lots to rally around of late, an excuse to get together and have a good time.

So, anyway, I'm willing to get this ball rolling. I'll get a stuffed animal, and a box, and the first disposable camera and start compiling a list of addresses...and I'll pay the shipping to wherever is up first. Anyone else interested in this?

Ok, so a bunch of us were discussing this idea yesterday and trying to make it come into fruition.�� Recognizing that there would be multiple events for fruheads going on at more or less the same time, Nate came up with the idea of having 4 stuffed creatures, each representing one of the frulads, that would galavant the world, destined to never meet as a quartet until the band reunites. :)� So, in discussing this further with Gella and others, here are�some suggestions for each of the frulads' stuffed animals:

Murray -�curious george type monkey

Dave - lion

Mike -�squirrel

Jian�-�parrot

Now, all we need is for�people to volunteer to get one of these animals (or�pick a lad and get an appropriate�animal)�and also lists of addresses and/or opportune passing off events.�

I'd be willing to get a�Dave�lion�and bring it to the Girlyman show with disposable camera in hand and keep track of addresses and such if people want to frum me their addys.�

Michael and Nate had expressed interest in getting an animal, so you guys can each pick one and if one more person could volunteer, we'd have the whole set ready for their travels within the next couple of days or weeks (as the case may be).� Sound good?�

For people who were discussing this last night, please feel free to correct me or fill in anything I might have left out, as I was half-awake in the moment.�

Okay, I got Dave...a very cute little lion hand puppet.��I'll take it with me to the Girlyman show next Monday so I can meet up with �~Reinhard:packing~ and perhaps �Lazlo Ingalls Wilder if she is coming to the show as well as anyone else interested in showing up at Fez in NYC on Nov. 10th.� A picture of Dave-lion can be seen on my blog.� Hope to see some of you there!

There should be more than one stuffed animal travelling around, and you should have to do a different thing with each one you get.... but that might be too much for people ;)

We should be sure to have the package shipped to a Toronto resident come Frucon time, and to someone who is attending Falcon Ridge come Falcon Ridge time.

And we don't get to take it to >play and listen to it make rude comments in a voice that sounds slightly like mine. Not that I don't think it would be a given to have it at Frucon :D But, we have regular lives too and we like to be visited by stuffed animals who travel by mail :D

I don't really know any Fr�heads in Waterloo, where I will be stuck for the school year in less than two weeks from now, but if there is a party in Toronto on a weekend I'd definitely come home for that.

Well, the big party in Toronto is the 7th Annual Fruhead Convention! If status quo holds, it will take place the weekend of Valentine's Day.

But it might be sort of a challenge�since the only fr�heads in Germany are ��frau renita (temporarily) and �Prisoner of Hope (permanently). Hee! We'll see.

However I will be in�Boston and�NYC next month and might go to Frucon next February. Opportunities. Yay.

I hereby declare that it is absolutely imperative that someone send me Dave sometime between now and the end of January so that I can take a picture of the King of Spain in his former kingdom. If I had him around Feb. 5, there's a slight possibility I could even get his picture at the Royal Palace in Madrid (maybe even in the boudoir?), but I'm not making any promises.
