I didn't really find it that exciting. I heard all the best lines before I saw it. Almost everything I heard about it outside of the Al Franken Show was an exaggeration. It didn't bomb and it wasn't met by silence as was often reported. It didn't bring the house down but there were laughs and applause.
I honestly thought it was hilarious. and it was sad that it didn't bring the house down. but of course nobody was laughing becaus stephen colbert rightfully served the press their ass on a silver platter.
I thought he deserved a medal for standing up and speaking the truth to Bush. It didn't bring down the house for the reason that people were nervous and uncomfortable about what Colbert was saying. Colbert basically called Bush an idiot to his face and also pointed out to the media elites how miserably they failed in reporting the truth over the last 5 years. I'll bet if the camera showed the audience, it would have showed alot of reporters squirming in their seats.
The tape I saw showed the audience quite a bit. Most of the people seemed to be smiling and occassionaly laughing. Not a hit but not a bomb.
