We use a water softener and purifier, and then a reverse osmosis system (same kinda that Aquafina and Deja Blue and all them use) to get our drinking water, which is about as close to H2O as you can get.
I won't drink city water...ugh, not with all the crap they add.
Why the softener, purifier *and* Reverse Osmosis? Is your water too gunky to just go into the RO?
The softener/purifier are the same unit, it removes mineral deposits in the water (such as magnesium and calcium). A reverse osmosis system only removes dissolved solids such as chlorine, sediment, nitrates, lead, and detergents.
So to get truly clean water, you need both.
Huh. Learn something every day.
Does your bathroom get the purified water, too? I've lived in a place with *horrible* hard, stinky water before, and I think showering in the stuff was the worst part.
The softener/purifier is hooked up to the main line that feeds the house, so all water coming from the city goes through the softener/purifier first, so all the water in the house is softened and purified. This also help keep your pipes clean.
The reverse osmosis system is under the sink in the kitchen and has a lead to the ice maker in the fridge and has it's own nozzle where our drinking water comes from.
Having softened water also saves on soap products and detergent.

Fluoridation harms our precious bodily fluids, you know.
It's not so much the flouride as it is the chlorine they put in the water.

psst...I think she was making a Dr. Stranglove reference...
Which is always a good thing. Dr. Strangelove is one of the greatest films ever.
Damn...right you are. Been too long since I watched that movie.
I usually drink just tap water. I have a Reverse Osmosis/deionization filter... but that's for the fish.

I prefer bottled water because it tastes way better than Seattle water.
I always drank from the tap or the hose as a kid in California. We only drank bottled water in Hanford, because the sulfur in the area gave everything a funny smell/taste. Our water in Indiana tasted better than bottled... something to do with the limestone. I started using a Pur filter when we got married, then upgraded to a better Pur when we got cats.
I drink bottled when I'm on foot or on the CTA. When I'm at home, it's a silly expense.
Poland Spring is really prominent out here, being bottled a few hundred miles away and all. We drink it pretty much all the time, our tap water tases salty to me and of all the bottled waters that taste decent, Poland Spring is the cheapest at $4.99/24 Bottles.
I drink tap water when I'm at home.
I don't when I'm on vacation at the outer banks, where they tell you specifically not to drink the water. it tastes like salt water, and is teh gross.
I bring bottled water to school with my lunch.
We generally don't drink tap water, especially at restaurants. One, you need to buy water while you're out ANYWAY.. because regardless if you brought some from home, you've gone through it and need more already..
We like to call the water at restaurants "Lake Mead Coctails"... cause we get most of our water from Lake Mead [as disgusting as that is]... so therefore, I prefer to drink only purified, filtered water. For god's sake man, get me some holy water!
at home, brita.
At work, UV/carbon filtered thingie.
And at falcon ridge... bottled mostly... sometimes out of the truck.
Zil and I brought some one-gallon jugs, and that seemed to serve us well. Although it did get warm, or downright hot, during the day.
Normally, I could go either way. Maybe it was growing up in Columbus with water from the Scioto, but tap water rarely bothers me. I didn't even mind Bowling Green's infamous water until I began to be white. At that point I went with a Britta pitcher, but up here I just drink from the tap.
Bottles are good for convenience though. *shrug* Then again, I like to do the walk to the drinking fountain.
until I began to be white.
you used to be black? :P
No, take a better look at my icon. I used to be yellow and plastic ;-)
ahh. yeah, i see it now. my brother has a ton of friends that look like that.
I'm amused that I submitted a very similar poll. I saw it on the main page and was wondering why Josh changed so much of the wording. 'Cept he didn't! :)
Roomie and I have a Brita pitcher here at the apartment (the aftermath of Brita filter makes me never want to drink from the tap again), and though I do drink bottled h20 as well, I'm not really into the Fiji or Evian or Perrier. ;)
Pr faucet filter at home, Poland Spring bottled here at work (yaye asking for a water cooler 10 years ago since the tap water was gross and them actually putting one in).
My home tap water is pretty nasty, but Springfield's water is fantastic (reservior at the top of a granite mountain) and I drink that when given the opportunity. Lots of the surrounding towns buy Springfield water, but mine is not one of them, alas.
