I like my peanut butter smooth, creamy, and all natural. Just like my men...ummm..nevermind.
Hmmmm.....Brown and creamy men, er, I mean peanut butter! Yeah, Peanut Butter, that's it!
Yeah. . natural peanut butter is great. Cause it doesn't have extra sugar/salt or trans-fat.

I love homemade peanut butter the best. The kind you get at health food stores. Next comes the jarred naturals like Smuckers. The thing is I'm wondering if my tummy still likes them. It might just be that I overindulge when I eat them.

So, I knew peanut butter was hard to come by in Europe. (And that was a bit of an issue for me until Nate very kindly overcame his aversion to the stuff enough to bring me a jar when he came to visit. :)) But I hadn't realized that that made it, like, weird. My German roommates are absolutely disgusted by it. They saw me make a PB&J yesterday and looked at me like I was completely insane, how-can-you-eat-that?-it-makes-me-want-to-barf. Which is just crazy to me because a PB&J is the most normal food I can think of. It's what kids in the U.S. who are really picky eaters eat when they refuse to try anything else. Right?
Well, sure... there's got to be some pride in the fact that the Islamic world still carries on their proud tradition of European fascism, even if they've been forced to abandon it.
Oh wait... this thread is about peanut butter. Why don't we stick to that? (i like it creamy)
Weird. I mean the aversion to the concept, not the rarity of pb. It makes sense that peanut butter, not being from an indigenous or climatically-suited crop, would not be endemic in Europe. But ... isn't Nutella Swiss? The first time I encountered it was when a friend brought a few jars back from France, circa 1985, and explained that the French use it "like peanut butter". So I don't understand why the concept of sweetening a nut butter with jelly instead of chocolate paste, and spreading the combination on bread, would be considered bizarre.
Maybe it's the German roommates who are weird. :D
The thing is, I think Nutella tastes more like chocolate paste than like nut butter, so the two aren't entirely comparable. My main issue with the anti-peanut-butter sentiment is that they won't even *try* it. Jeez.

I voted for the Natural stylie, but I like it to be chunky too. Also, I like it made with roasted peanuts (not raw), and unsalted.
But (Reduced Fat*) Skippy Extra Crunchy will do in a pinch. * Edited in
The processed ones are roasted and salted. Once you get into health food stores, it's more likely that you'll end up with a more "back to earth/raw food" jar of pb.
Though I have a specific preference as to what I buy, I'll really eat any peanut butter, as long as it doesn't come with the jelly already in the jar. That just creeps me out. It stands to reason that there are carcinogens in peanut butter. There are carcinogens in a lot of plants. Usually they promote resistance to pests in the plant, and are present in such low levels that they're not considered a human hazard if the plant is used as food. Or sometimes we just put them in there, under the guise of "improving" a food "product".

I prefer Peanut Wonder over any other peanut butter. Fewer calories, less fat, low sodium available. Mmmm...
that's because it's a separate wondrous substance! also, it doesn't have as many variations as pb to like or dislike.
i like Nutella on toast, or on tea cookies.
