i *so* wanted to go with 'no', but unfortunately money has previously bought merelative happiness.i spend most of my money either on other people, or on things for myself that will make other people perceive me as being more interesting (clothes, accessories and the like). people thinking i'm even remotely cool makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. so yeah.
Gordondon son of Ethelred · 21 years, 9 months ago
Yes you can buy Happiness for $22.49 See for yourself.
emilie is CRANKY Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
also: money buys therapy. true. :D
ChrisChin is Getting Old Back · 21 years, 9 months ago

But I canbuy Happiness for $15.49 here. So, I'd save 7 dollars. :)

Arbie · 21 years, 9 months ago
But if you have enough money you can rent it for awhile.

...or so I've heard
Starfox · 21 years, 9 months ago
True happiness cannot be found in things.
Andrea Krause · 21 years, 9 months ago

Money cannot buy happiness, strictly speaking. BUT, if you're relatively set to be happy and the only things keeping you from it are money-related issues, then yes I think it can be the difference between happiness and non-happiness. My life right now is the happiest I've ever been...but the bumps in the road are always about money or jobs.

If Isomehow become richwould I be guaranteed to be happy? No. But it could remove a lot of the walls I keep banging my head against. Money can get me a house, which I want desperately. Money can get some debt issues worked out so I can get married. Money could get me out of the job I hate. Money can get me clothes, which I shallowly love to have. And money can get my boobs hoisted!! :)

Money doesn't equal happiness. I think freedom to pursue what you want can equal happiness. Money can sometimes get you that freedom.

I plan to have money someday, and although I don't know if it will buy me happiness it will really make me happy!!

I don't have enough to tell yet...

Damn, its region 1, so Happiness won't work for me.
Bel kjfdxcvuyjh8 · 21 years, 9 months ago
Money can buy happiness on earth, but the question is, can it buy eternal happiness? No.
nate... Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
So, on earth... but what, it can't buy happiness in space?
I beg to differ.
The more money you have, the better spacecraft you can build!
:)
nate... Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
Thank you for saying exactly what I was going to say. :)

Even if I'm completely happy in all other things... having to worry about just barely squeaking by with bills and such is so stressful that it really takes away from the pleasure in other aspects of life.

I've been thinking about this a lot recently.... if I'm constantly having to worry about money... and having to work at a job I dislike in order to live... then I almost never have a chance to enjoy life.

So, yeah... money buys peace of mind, which can allow you to be enjoy your happiness.
:)
A girl named Becca Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
What does that have to do with "eternal happiness"?
nate... Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
Well, I kinda assumed the spacecraft would have the ability to hold someone in suspended animation.
Bel kjfdxcvuyjh8 Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
Cool. I wonder if that would work.
Gordondon son of Ethelred · 21 years, 9 months ago
This has actually been studied. The answer is that extreme poverty causes unhappiness but beyond having enough for the basic neccessities having money doesn't make you happy.
nate... Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
Well, it's not so cut and dry.
It varies by person.
You can't make a blanket statement like that, really.
nate... Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
It better!
I'm counting on it. :)
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
If it varies by person then it isn't the money that makes the person happy.

Does that mean that nobody gets happier if they have more money. No. But it means it is the way to bet.
nate... Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
Well, sure...
But just because money alone can't make you or me happy doesn't mean there is NOBODY out there who only needs money to be happy. :)

money can buy puppies. and happiness is a warm puppy.
bored, bored, bored.... · 21 years, 9 months ago

Money can buy "Happiness", a book by Will Ferguson. *g* I recommend it. The premise: What would happen if someone wrote a "self-help" book that actually worked? Think about it....

Annika Back · 21 years, 9 months ago

a warm puppy that pee's on your floors, chews up your favorite shoes, sleeps on your favorite chair leaving clumps of hair all over, eats all kinds of yuckky things, then comes up and licks your face with it's germy tounge, goes out and plays in the mud than jumps on you as you're on your way to an job interview. Yes, happiness is a warm puppy. I love dogs, but I'm not a puppy person, I'm a trained dog that wants to be around you, but will leave you alone when you're trying to write, or play the (insert instrument here). But I get the puppy thing, they're all cute and stuff. They're like kids, they're all cool and fun to hang out with, but I wouldn't want one of my own.

as I have no food or money at the moment it would be great if I had money and it would buy me a certain degree of happiness. Having said that I was essentially offered money for sex at the weekend and that did not make me happy, when the offer of money was withdrawn but the guy still was up for it I felt better about myself...I would hope that it would never reach the stage where i neede to do that but having previously gone days withiut food whilst sleeping on other people's sofas and developing quite an unattractive smell I have to concede that money is of soem importance...
zil · 21 years, 9 months ago
I wouldn't say it can buy happiness but I would say it can buy nessesities which can make happiness more attainable. money helps happiness along. its hard to be happy when you don't have food. or proper clothes. or if you've been reusing the same needle for a month... I dunno.

money can't buy happiness...it can by acessories to happiness, but not happiness itself...plus, money=power, and?power corrupts, leaving no love, or friends, or anything, so you'd be sad. HA!
George E. Nowik · 21 years, 9 months ago

it's a good thing money can't really buy happiness. we wouldn't be able to stand the commercials.
