Worst....movie.....EVER!!

   Discussion: Worst....movie.....EVER!!
Zach · 21 years, 9 months ago
What would you say is the worst movie ever made? Feel free to make a list. Here's mine:

Killjoy
Monkeybone
Plan 9 From Outer Space
Battlefield Earth
Pootie Tang
Adam Hartfield Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
Nothing can top Zombie Lake. Nothing.
Agent Scully Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
Legend of Boggy Creek

Need I say more and considered to be the greatest movie about Bigfoot ever made!

*cough*sucked*cough*
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
I dont' remember if it was Legend or Return to Boggy Creek but one of them featured Dawn Wells, Maryann from Gilligan's Island. Yes I am being lazy and not looking it up on IMBD.

plan 9 kicks ass. 'bela! not bela!" "wicker! rattan!" "wicker!" "rattan!" "TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR!"

o/~ ballroom dancin' o/~

isn't that from the movie?

it's been a long time since I've seen it and one of my mom's favorite movies.
Andrea Krause Back · 21 years, 9 months ago

Yep they have a big dance sequence with poofy pink dresses and a riot. :)

I really like that movie. It's supposed to be a dumb movie, to surround the music.

I especially liked Paul's little nightmare about being broke and singing a pepped up version of Yesterday by the subway for change. :)

And it had Tracy Ullman! (And remember when Paul did a cameo in her music video?)

Songbill Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
And the Silly Love Songs in the white makeup
Andrea Krause Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
I love that! Especially the way the guy freaks out on the bass during the solo. :)
Michael (foof) Maki Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
Hey!  I liked Duets!

Wag the Dog
American Pie
Mansfield Park (well....that one could have been OK if they hadn't pretended it had something to do with Jane Austen....)
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
Wag the Dog was great!
George E. Nowik Back · 21 years, 9 months ago

so was american pie.

sad. (:

 -= george =-

Annika Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
Working for Peanuts. Of course, as it's the worst movie ever, I own it!
Annika Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
I liked American Pie. Not enough to go buy it, but enough to rent it a couple times.
hkath Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
I'm with George. No dissing American Pie. It's one of the few movies I've ever seen that reaches its own goals 100%. It knows where it's going and it goes there. Unlike movies like, say, Duets or Dr. T and the Women, who have no clue where they're going and eventually get nowhere.
nate... Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
Yeah.

It aims to be stupid, and succeeds.

hkath Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
Exactly. If every single movie in the world was Mulholland Drive, don't you think your head might have exploded by now? What about the people with low IQs? Don't their opinions count? ;)
nate... Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
Exactly!

:)
I agree completely.

I thought american pie was okay... for what it was.

Agent Scully Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
Yeah. It aims to be stupid, and succeeds.

now why did I read that as "stupid is as stupid does" ;D
Agent Scully Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
How come no one mentioned "Ishtar"... Or Carnal Knowledge Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas City of Angels Howard the Duck Jaws 4: The Revenge (this time it's personal) Leonard Part 6 Speed 2: Cruise Control Waterworld Teen Wolf Too Jaws 3-D Poltergeist III

Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
OK I know i'm the only one that liked Ishtar but Carnal Knowledge was an acedemy award winner, (Ann-Margeret won best supporting actress). As for the rest, they weren't enjoyably bad. Those are the fun ones to talk about
Agent Scully Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
no ann-margret didn't win - she was nominated.

The movie was also involved in a supreme court case for obscenity in GA.

Agent Scully Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
http://www.almostfabulous.com/movies/oscars/actressessupporting-1970s.php

winner-->Cloris Leachman The Last Picture Show

Ann-Margret Carnal Knowledge Ellen Burstyn The Last Picture Show Barbara Harris Who is Harry Kellerman and Why is He Saying Those Terrible Things About Me? Margaret Leighton The Go-Between

Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
You are right. I should have known that.

So to make up for it I'll mention that Art Garfunkel was in it. That has to be worth something.
Agent Scully Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
That's better! :D

And adding one more thing..Jack Nicholson says c*** in the film which struck me as shocking for a 1971 movie. I thought I was watch a male version of Sex and the City. :)
Agent Scully Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
Yup, two hours I'll never get back either. :\ And I paid $7 to see it - waste of money.
Michael (foof) Maki Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
Hey!  Hey!  Hey!  There will be no badmouthing of Terry Gilliam's work. :-P
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
I'm a big Gilliam fan but I hated Brazil. I wish he had finished his Don Quixote. I saw the documentary about it and it looked really good.
theri quite contrary Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
I can live with Poltergeist III mostly because the death of Heather O'Rourke upset me incredibly when I was younger (I think she was probably my first "favourite actress") and it was the last thing she was in before she...erm...went into the light?

However, I REFUSE to live with "City of Angels". ;) And the film snob in me really gets pissed off when my friends go on about it and don't realise that it's a remake...

Also, I don't know if anyone's mentioned it but: "Batman and Robin". Someone's going to hell for THAT one.
Rachel Marie aka RAI Back · 21 years, 9 months ago

I agree 100% with Batman and Robin. The only thing that would have saved it were if, randomly during fight scenes, they would have had a "POW!" or a "WHAP!" in big colorful letters come onto the screen. Then it would have been camp and fun.

I almost feel sorry for George Clooney for accepting that role. Boo.

--Rachel
--All the other Batman movies are okay, though.

Agent Scully Back · 21 years, 9 months ago

I can live with Poltergeist III mostly because the death of Heather O'Rourke upset me incredibly when I was younger (I think she was probably my first "favourite actress") and it was the last thing she was in before she...erm...went into the light?

I believe she was sick during the entire time the filming was going on. That's why she was so "puffy" during the movie. She was on a heavy dose of prednisone. Then the rumours of the "The curse of the Poltergeist set." Oh Puh-Leeze! Everyone pretty much died of natural causes except for "Dana" - Dominique Dunne who was killed by her (ex) boyfriend October 1982 when the first film was in release.

I know a lot of 80 kids grew up with Heather. She was in "The New LEave it to Beaver," and especially her role in "Happy Days" which is what I remember her for. I think she was also in the series "Our House" with Shannen Doherty.

And I watch it - but they should never have dragged out the series. It's like Jaws. Jaws I and II were hits - after that, it just gets stupid.

I wonder how many remember that Jaws 3 was actually in 3-D in 1983.

Dave Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
I saw Jaws 3-D twice in the theatre, and to this day I still don't know why.
Agent Scully Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
It's one of those movies when nothing else is on, I'll watch it. :)

I think I didn't go and see it because I can't see 3-D. :(

And that was the summer of "Return of the Jedi." :D
Rachel Marie aka RAI Back · 21 years, 9 months ago

I will have to say that the worst movie I ever saw was "Gloria" with Sharon Stone. I was watching it with my friends, and I ended up in the middle of the movie, counting ceiling tiles because it bored me so bad. I think I took three bathroom breaks just to get out of the theatre and away from Sharon Stone's horrible acting and the movie's horrible plot.

That and Face Off. I refuse to see it but I know it's the worst movie ever because it has Nicholas Cage and John Travolta in it. And I HATE Nicholas Cage and John Travolta.

--Rachel
--::waits for the rage over dissing Nick Cage and John Travolta::

Agent Scully Back · 21 years, 9 months ago

Gloria was remade and should never have been done.

The original was excellent!

Gone with the Wind. Makes me gag just thinking about that 4-hour pile of...
Doktor Pepski, kommie · 21 years, 9 months ago

Battlefield Earth(the worst piece of garbage I have ever seen)

Spawn(I just stared with mediocrity at the screen)

The Wizard Of Oz (sorry. i know it strays from the norm but I can not take this film...take it to the garbage)

The Avengers(You will believe Sean Connery can stink)

Charlie's Angels(I went in looking for some semblence of a plot, came out with scantily clad women fighting throughout, I guess I am not a man after all)

The Rocky Horror Picture Show- I didn't even know what they were evn trying to accomplish with the film. I guess that must be why people started interacting with it, give the film a raison pour etre

Nothing But Trouble-Imagine the worst train wreck possible, then put a penis on the engineer's nose. The title doesn't lie though.

Any Friday the 13-I have an idea, let's put the plot through the white out and change one or two words. Hey, we're in NYC instead of Crystal lake, hey she'd psychic instead of a slut. he kills the kid with a weder instead of an axe.

Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
They did a live MST3K version of Battlefield Earth at Dragoncon. I think that's the only way I could have sat through it.
Dave Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
Y'know, I've seen Battlefield Earth three times now, just because:

a) John Travolta is a Scientologist and he *really* wanted to make the movie and,

b) he was actually serious about it!

Best scene:

Travolta, looking like some weird space-rasta, holding a rat up to pretty-boy "man ape's" face, screaming:

"Do you want.... LUNCH?"

Just kills me... I can't help it :)

crossroads

Which one?

Agent Scully Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
ahh now see...I'm the generation of "Crossroads" with Mr. Macchio. :)
zil Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
hee I am too, but I have younger siblings and I work in a movie theater... It was my job to see that movie. *shudder*
Beth Back · 21 years, 9 months ago

I really dug zilbabe's (I'm sorry I don't know your real name {g}) list. So much so that I'm just gonna comment on almost every item.  :)

scary movie (1&2 soon to be 3) You know, in all honesty, Scary Movie is THE worst movie I've ever seen. I saw it at the movies and I was just trapped there and couldn't walk out. I can't even tell you how traumatizing that was for me. And the entire theatre was roaring with laughter, and I was just, you know, losing faith in humanity. Blaaah. Horrible. {g}  And it hurts my feelings that Andy Richter and David Cross were in the sequel, which I chose not to see.

walk in the clouds Okay, I didn't see that, but when I was in biology in grade ten, I told my lab group that I heard it was bad and redundant, and they (three ditsy girls) got really pissed off at me for saying that. True story.

glitter Oh man, I saw that on cable and I was at least able to laugh at it. A guy who calls himself "Dice" and wears a jacket but no shirt is a cheap laugh to me. {g}

crossroads Oh man, I saw that on cable and it made me want to KILL. I could write nine books and two journal articles on why that movie was wretched. At least it dealt with serious issues like rape. :P

kagaroo jack I was smart enough not to see it, but out of curiosity I read the discussion forum for it on the IMDb. A whole bunch of people said they were disappointed, because the kangaroo didn't actually talk. Yeah, because then it would be a *good* movie.  ;)

jason vs freddy  I kind of wanted to see that. I have a great affection for horror movies, but I hate Jason as much as I love Freddy. And I think any idea where the two meet is going to be bad. But I'm still curious and not expecting much.

kindergarden cop I was pretty young when I saw that and thought it was okay. I bet you a dollar that I could watch it now and think it smells.

As for my own list...

Scary Movie is the all time worst movie I've ever seen.

Kids just kind of made me sick and sad, but I don't think that necessarily qualifies it as bad, because I think it served its purpose.

And let me also mention movies that I refuse to see, because I know better.

American Pie 1 and 2

Shallow Hal and pretty much anything else by the Farrelly Brothers

If you've read this far, I tip my hat to you.  :)

Zach Back · 21 years, 9 months ago

WHOO! I get a hat-tip! *Dances a jig*

Oh, by the way, concerning Scary Movie 2 - You dodged a bullet there. It's even worse than the first. Kangaroo Jack...I saw five minutes of that when I still worked in my lovely cheap theater. Within that five minutes I lost thousands of innocent brain cells and became utterly depressed, desiring nothing more than death or immediate escape from the theater. I chose the latter, narrowly avoiding the evil clutches of the awful film. Unfortunately, my troubles were not over. I still had to clean the theater when I was ushering. The connection between horrible films and horrible exit music is phenomenal.

zil Back · 21 years, 9 months ago

hee!

my name is Zilpha, most people call me zil. sup to you really. if you call me something I find offensive you'll know about it. ;-)

Nathan Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
They needed to put a disclaimer on the Kangaroo Jack commercials like they did for Guess Who.  "Kangaroo does not actually talk."
Gordondon son of Ethelred · 21 years, 9 months ago
Sorry I've seen them all and Robot Monster rules. The title monster is a Gorilla in a diving helmet. There are gratuitous scenes of lizards posing as dinosaurs fighting. It's in 3-D except for the dinosaur scenes which were taken from "One Million BC." The house the people live in just just a foundation. The "ruins" they talk about is a house and you can see the woman who owns it standing next to it. The space platform is a model rocket on a string and you can see the hand that is twirling it around. It has classic dialogue; You want to be like a hu-man. Good you can die like a hu-man. It was made for $13,000. Its is the epitome of the Grade Z movie.

IMDb user comments for Robot Monster (1953)

Summary: Deny the rumors -- Robot Monster (1953) is fun!

Form your own unique and isolated opinion of the film Robot Monster (from 1953). Everybody says this is the worse movie ever made, and they are totally wrong. How do you gauge the worse possible films? Isn't everybody's viewpoint in reality different? Or is the world striving to be common & mundane? I've never heard this movie, because whenever I pop it into the VCR I always leave the volume down. This allows me to enjoy my european electronica, and fantasize about what Robot Monster would actually be like in a more refined society. To sum things up Robot Monster is a different movie every time I watch it...and it's the perfect backdrop projection to enhance your living quarters.

I have a thing against Wes Anderson/Owen Wilson movies in general. In my head I know they're well made and people like them, but that painfully drawn-out brand of comedy is just not for me.

blind rage has got to be one of the worst movies ever made.

However, it's so bad that it's hilarious. :)

i'm surprised at some of the movies ya'll feel are the worst ever.  some of them have enough redeeming qualities or moments that they certainly can't be the "worst evar."

kindergarten cop is a study in why accents make any phrase funny.  "Stop crying!  It's a ferret.  March!"

Yes, exactly. I was liking it, but once the monster appeared, it went downhill like a monkey on a sled.

I hear that there's going to be a sequel involving a busload of cheerleaders and football players or something like that. The original sounds better and better, no?  ;)

Cantebury Tales... a picture from around '84-'85. Apparently meant to be a soft-core porn look at the bawdiness that was really behind Chaucer's writings. Was hyped enough that the theatre was almost full. By the end my ex-wife and I were the only ones left, I kept believing it had to start getting better 'cause it couldn't get any worse. And then it got worse. Like a slow-motion train wreck, you watch it but you don't know why.

The Neverending Story Part Two

Master of Disguise (which I admit, I didn't see, but the trailers were so painfully bad, and those are supposed to be the best parts, right?)

angelmusicmaven Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
Masters of Disguise was actually not as painful as some of the material in the trailers.... I mean, it was bad, but I did get some laughs out of it... but then of course Brent Spiner as a bad guy never fails to entertain me, no matter the terribleness of the movie (i.e. OUT TO SEA)
elfy, teacher of many Back · 21 years, 9 months ago

When I saw this thread I had only one thought in my head "Neverending Story Part Two" counts among worst movies I've seen.   It's not just BAD.  Bad movies I can appreciate because, after watching them, I can tear them apart.  ie: "chris o'donnel's feminine side was too apparent"

But when it comes to Worst Movie I've Ever Seen, that's a category reserved for 'movies I never finished watching and wished I'd never started' because you just CAN'T get that time BACK - oh the poor brain cells that sacrificed themselves to that I might satisfy my morbid curiosity to see IF the Neverending Story could be properly continued.

I expected that one to be extremely funny after all the good things I'd heard from friends. I didn't find it BAD...it was mildly amusing but nowhere near what I had been led to expect.

Of course that all gets back to that "what part does hype play" discussion. Would I have found it hilarious if I hadn't heard a thing about it? I don't know. I really wanted to like it.
nate... Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
Yeah, I wanted to like it too. I fell asleep twice while trying to watch it, then just gave up and sent it back.
Rachel Marie aka RAI Back · 21 years, 9 months ago

Oh, boo, no dissing Christopher Guest films. ;o) I'm sorry but mockumentaries are the best kind of film and C.Guest pulls them off with STYLE. I mean, think about it. Spinal Tap? Waiting for Guffman? I have yet to see A Mighty Wind, but my dad loves it and I heard the music and I was really impressed by Eugene Levy and Christopher Guest's song writing. I really thought I was listening to some Kingston Trio I didn't know. It was awesome.

They sing Carter Family songs in that movie? Hm, I may just have to see it.
lawrence Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
please say you saw that at b-fest and not somewhere where you were expecting the movie to actually be good?

granted, I haven't seen it, but from what I've read on imdb, I'm not sure I want to. :)
goovie is married! Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
of course i saw it at b-fest! the imdb review doesn't even get into the real horrors of the movie, like milton berle as the devil encouraging anthony newley to have sex with everything that moves and presiding over a black mass, or the song about princess trampolina and the donkey.
emilie is CRANKY · 21 years, 9 months ago
am i the only person ever who didn't like moulin rouge? i just thought it was over-done and tacky. and the singing was bad. yeah. :D
nate... Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
I haven't actually seen it yet. But.... that's for a reason.

It looked like a pile of shite.
*joolee* Back · 21 years, 9 months ago

ack!  ack! ack!

*whimper*

ok, we'll leave it at you are horridly wrong. :)  I thought the singing (as engineered as it was) was actually quite good.  It started the unhealthy obsession I had for Ewan McGregor. *swoon*  I won't get into the over-done and tacky stuff b/c I got to rant about it in my music history class for a good half hour last semester.  Needless to say, I think it was amazing and while it was over the top, it makes for new discoveries each time I watch it.  w00t.

nate... Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
New discoveries in what? How hot you think Ewan is?

;)
Annika Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
I'm amazed every time I watch Ewan movies (Shallow Grave, Eye of the Beholder, etc.) how WOW he is to me.
Kyla Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
Wow, someone else had Moulin Rouge in their music history class? We had to listen to the Elephant medley as an example of a post-modern technique.

best ever made? whaaa?
I mean, it was fun... but... come ON.
Beth · 21 years, 9 months ago

Okay, I've got another one. {g}

A. I. because it was just insanely insane. I know Ewan is cool, but it doesn't MATTER, because he was a creepy sexbot. ;) Another thing about that movie: it should win the trophy for the most times you think it will end, when it doesn't.

"It's almost over now. Oh, no wait. It's still going on, but it should end soon. Oh no wait, there are aliens, and this is taking place in the distant future, but it'll be over soon, right?"

Zach Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
That was definitely not Ewan. It was Jude Law.
Beth Back · 21 years, 9 months ago

Okay, I'm not a fan, and they're like the same guy to me. But I am embarrassed to have made the mistake.

Now I will be brutally murdered by the fans. {g}

I feel sheepish. {g} I came *thisclose* to fixing my mistake before more people could read it, but I decided that isn't the way.

But the movie still sucked, right? RIGHT?

Laura P. Back · 21 years, 9 months ago

Another thing about that movie: it should win the trophy for the most times you think it will end, when it doesn't.

Absolutely! It's like the movie couldn't decide what kind of movie it wanted to be. It had a personality disorder.

I watched it with my parents and husband. All of us have different tastes in movies, yet none of us liked A.I.  It seemed to me that it could have been good had the writers been reigned in  a little.

A girl named Becca Back · 21 years, 9 months ago

Yeah...that and As Good as it Gets both should have ended about 3 or 4 times.

That movie was on TV last week. After about half an hour I decided it should have been called Painting by Numbers and switched the telly off.

this one.  so painful, i watched perhaps 3 minutes of it before i told my boyfriend to remove it from the DVD player & never return it there or he would have to find a new home.  yes, it's that bad.  it's not even funny bad.  just bad.

....or it's pre-quel Dumb and Dumberer....even though I've haven't seen it (nor that I plan to), anything where you can't get back the original principals to reprise their roles or even the same writers can't be a good sign of a quality movie. Think...Airplane II: The Sequel (at least for the writers)...that was a terrible movie.

Star Wars 2: Attack of the Clones was THE WORST MOVIE EVER CREATED!!!! (IMMHO).......and here is why :

first of all...what happened the something called a REAL story line....the reason i loved the first three films was the...simplicity and innocience of the story...good verses evil...coming of age...combinded in a world that was full of imagination and wonder. Yes these last two installments tried to go for those themes again, but they fell very short. The whole thing with plots to assasinate key polictical figures and currupt governments (which was confusing at the very least) was severely overshadowed by an attempt to WOW the audience with the latest computer generated effects (which were pretty lame...i much prefer the "real" monsters and backgrounds of the 70/80's..however primative they may be). if i wanted to see and computer animated movie i would have gone to rent Toy Story.

secondly...i think they spent too much money on the special effects and forgot to pay the actors...Even the big names like Lawrence Fishbourn and Ewen McGregor (whom i adore as much as the next person)...you gotta admit that this was not their best work....as for teenage Aniken (i can't remember the actor's name) i won't get into how bad his performance was...

ok there is my 2 cents (plus some)...i stillwant the $7 i spent on tickets back....

Agent Scully Back · 21 years, 9 months ago

I loved the first one in a sort of goofy way. It knew it was ridiculous. Swooning woman: "Mason!" Swooning man: "Dixon!" (run toward each other, repeat twice, followed by) Swooning man: "Mason!" Swooning woman: "Dixon!"

And the guy dressed up in the tomato costume who has infiltrated the tomato camp to figure out their weakness, but who makes the mistake of saying, "Can somebody pass the ketchup?"

And the gag-awful soundtrack prominently featuring an unintelligible song called "Puberty Love."

And the opening credits.

Whoo boy. You have to rent this, especially if any part of you is still eight years old.

But the sequel is just bad bad _bad_ bad bad. Plus, it's got the millionaire from "Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire" in it. I didn't finish watching it-- my brother and I watched 10 minutes and looked at the screen with a mixture of disappointment and revulsion, then pressed rewind.

I loved Killer Tomatoes, I haven't seen the sequel. Anyone notice the similarity of the ends of Killer Tomatoes and Mars Attacks? In both films the playing of a song defeats the monsters.

Chaya Papaya Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
yah, in the episode where...oh god I can't remember which actor, I wanna say Mel Gibson, but I might be wrong...has a movie previewed by the citizens of Springfield and everyone loves it except Homer, and then Homer helps him revamp the ending to make it better because Mel (i think) decides that Homer was the only honest or right judge of the quality of the movie. The movie was Mr. Smith goes to Washington...and Homer changes the ending so that Mr. Smith shoots everyone in congress and stabs the speaker with an american flag...and then decapitates the president...anyway, when the movie gets reviewed again comic book guy comes out and says "worst movie ever." the end.
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
Yes it was Mel Gibson.

I'm so proud that I knew that :-)
