As soon as I submitted this one I realized I forgot it. Was it because you reminded me? Somebody did.
I can see the bunny · 21 years, 10 months ago
Though I do love my rock music, right now I've gotta lean towards blues. Robert Johnson, Howlin' Wolf, Colin Linden, George Leach - the list goes on. :)
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
You have to love Robert Johnson. Crossroad Blues is on my short list of greatest songs. The only boxed sets I own are

  • Robert Johnson
  • Dylan
  • Bowie
  • Louis Armstrong

OK who's going to be the first one to remind me of a boxed set I forgot to mention?
sheryls Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
I dont know what YOU have, but my only boxed set is the Wierd Al boxed set :D

"I hope you enjooooyyyyyyy..... my new boxed set."
Bel kjfdxcvuyjh8 Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
I love that song!!
Mamalissa! Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
Dude...the band Roxette should totally put together a box set, and call it the Roxette Boxette.
ellen · 21 years, 9 months ago
mmmm. it's all about the Barbershop bay-bee.

I suppose it'd fit into an "oldies" genre, but it's so much more than just older songs made a cappella.

anyways, in leiu of that I voted for opera ;)
Arbie Back · 21 years, 9 months ago

*sigh* of course B-shop is "oldies". The new stuff is called vocal jazz :-P  (Ok it's not exclusively a capella, but the best stuff is)

But whatever, it's singing something, which is more than what I'm doing, so I'm jealous of you and George (and others who I'm forgetting at the moment, there are lots of B-shoppers in this group)

John J. Ryan Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
Mmmmm barbershop....
beth-pseudocanuck! Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
i would beg to differ with the "vocal jazz" category... contemporary a cappella includes a huge range of styles of music. jazz is one, certainly. but there is also pop, rock, doo-wop, gospel, traditional hebrew, collegiate (as i believe they kind of have their own style), and of course barbershop. just check out the huge catalog at mainely a cappella and you'll see what i mean. :)
dirty life & times · 21 years, 9 months ago
i really think we've had this poll before.

i picked blues, cause it's my fastest-growing musical taste. also because the choice quotes an elton john song, which is my secret guilty pleasure.
nate... · 21 years, 9 months ago
sheesh!

My two answers aren't on there. Indie pop bands and hardcore.

:(
Talcott Back · 21 years, 9 months ago

Hardcore what? Polka?

.oO We're an accordian band Oo.

nate... Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
/me laughs

Um. no. :)
Josh Woodward Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
.oO We're coming to your town, we make annoying sounds, we're an accordion band.. Oo.
Talcott Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
*blink*
Wow...I should know by now that no quote is too obscure for FHDC ;-)
Josh Woodward Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
Nope. :)
A girl named Becca Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
Well, there *was* a pop option...so, deal.  :P
nate... Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
Yeah, but "pop" is like, mariah carey and crap like that.

ick.
A girl named Becca Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
OK, but it's also indie pop.
*Shrug.
nate... Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
not really... I mean, would you put the maggies and FoW in the same category as her?
A girl named Becca Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
Well, if that category is "pop," then, I guess so.
nate... Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
I think the issue is that there are two kinds of "pop". One is the original usage... where "pop" is short for "popular".

The other "pop" usage is where it describes the musical style... it has a poppy fun-ness to it. That's the use that I'm thinking of when I describe those bands like FoW.
A girl named Becca Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
True....but there's also a lot of overlap there.
ChrisChin is Getting Old Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
Hrmm...where is the other option?  Where's the "Many of the Categories but not all" option?   There is just too much other music that I like....that doesn't fit neatly into one of the genres.  Hrm...which one to choose, which one to choose?  Though if a "Showtunes" option were there, I probably would pick that one. </rant>
no one · 21 years, 9 months ago
Easy to answer, if only the poll question was phrased thus: what type of music do you spend more time listening to than any other? There are no favourite types of music for me, just favourite songs/works.
Starfox · 21 years, 9 months ago
Country music? Or is that too close to folk?

I like Country and rock n' roll about equal.
Mamalissa! · 21 years, 9 months ago

I dig rock and roll music and I love to get the chance to play and sing it.  I figure it's about the happiest sound goin' down today.  The message may not move me.  Or mean a great deal to me.  But hey!  It feels so groovy to say!

How crazy can Main Street get?
Bel kjfdxcvuyjh8 · 21 years, 9 months ago
Whoa. That's a lt different from me.
Samantha · 21 years, 9 months ago
i love all kinds of music.. makin' me choose just ONE? oh dear.. i said "hooked on classics" cause thats the only thing close to my favorite genre.. Beatles.. Donovan.. Zeppelin.. Doors.. the usual suspects.. lol.. um.. i LOVE A Cappella.. and yes, i admit it. i watched the Academy of Country music Awards last night.. i'd expected to see Steve Azar, cause his website said he wuz gonna be there.. but .. um.. he wasnt>,< .. but Rascal Flatts was.. so cool.. i like anything basically that you wouldnt find anywhere but a coffeehouse or a pawnshop.. so.. i cant really say..
George E. Nowik · 21 years, 9 months ago

Just met an ABBA fan... interesting group... thoughts on that group?Personally, I love alternative like Weezer and BareNakedLadies. Aerosmith is pretty good too. I listen to jazz too,but if you listen to Fruvous, all these preferences can pretty much be implied. Weird Al too, on the side. yeah...
