How many hours of TV do you watch in a typical week?

On an average day, I watch probably one or two primetime shows, the Daily Show, and the daily FX rerun of The Practice. It's not quite as bad as it sounds, since I have TiVo which lets me watch three shows in the space of two, but it's still too much. Oh well. :)

OMG!!!!! first post!!!! for like the second time, like -ever-!!!!
my TV watching depends on what's on that particular week..{like -this- week, i'm of course gonna watch the 'martha inc' movie on NBC coz all of my friends call me 'martha'}..i watch a little more now that i only work til 6, but when i'm scheduled for 11:30am-8pm, it doesn't allow much time for TV. and i'll watch an hour LESS of it after tuesday when BUFFY goes off the air.... *sniffle*

I watch Buffy, Angel, The Simpsons, and the three Law and Order shows on a regular basis. Then throw in some movies and Stargate re-runs. Sports too. I think I picked the wrong choice. I watch more than I thought.
I dont like SVU much either. CI is my fav (i love the original but i never catch it - i usually only have time to watch TV sunday nights) but I could watch law & order anytime. i just get sucked in. but SVU just bothers me. Sometimes i'll watch it if it's on. I also got really sucked into American Dreams, because it's on Sunday night while i'm wating for L&O:CI to come on :)But i missed the finale last night. feh. I'd say i watch like 3 hours of tv a week - american dreams, L&O:CI and the occasional dateline, and i also catch frasier sometimes when i come home from work and i'm eating. I think i could get into any show, granted it was on during a convinient time for me :D

i used to watch shitloads of tv, like at least 2 hours a night plus most of the day on weekends. then we got the internet, and now at the most i watch about 3 hours a week. there are no specific shows i watch, but i'll watch some particular shows if they happen to be on when i'm around, like the simpsons, friends, will and grace, graham norton, home and away (badass daytime tv aussie soap) etc. also there seems to have been a huge increase in shite tv programmes, particularly awful reality tv-type shows, bad quality fly-on-the-wall stuff, and tacky soaps (omigod, british soaps are sooooo terrible). these wouldn't be so much of a problem except that my little sister feeds off them and gets temper tantrum withdrawal symptoms if she doesn't get her nightly dosage of eastenders. you can bet that if i'm online in the evening, it's because my sister is watching tv downstairs :D

We watch three tv shows a week, though this time of year we also watch baseball games frequently as well. Three hours of real "television" though. :)
Buffy (which is ending this season) Angel Enterprise At the beginning of the tv season we also watched some other things that got canceled (most heartbreakingly Firefly), but this is what we have now.

i used to watch the simpsons every day and Jian's show on Thursdays...but now i don't even do that anymore, and i'm glad. Now i just watch the news on the veryvery rare occasion, usually i read the news in the newspaper or online nowadays.
Yeah, for non-local news, online is the only way to go for me. It's slightly less biased, and you get to choose what interests you and read at your own pace.

i dunno.. theres not really that much on that interests me.. if i had MTV2, i'd probably watch Headbangers Ball.. but thats about it.. and why watch TV when you could be listening to Frvous and Donovan??? *sighs* oh GOD.. Donovan is great^.^ Fruvous is great.. music is great.. who the hell needs TV when you have MUZIK????

I think the "More Than 14" could be labeled "TV Junkie," and I know I'd still fall in there.
I've got a stable of regular programs I've been watching, when they're on...
Sunday: "American Dreams," "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," "Enterprise" if i missed it for some reason on Wednesday Add to these NASCAR Winston Cup races, Buffalo Sabres hockey games, any Star Trek episodes I happen across, and I end up spending waaaaaaaaaaaay too much time in front of the tube. It doesn't hurt, though, that I've got a DVR in my cable box that not only records all my favorite programs, but allows me to watch one while another's recording, and even record two shows simultaneously. (If you're familiar with TiVo or ReplayTV, yeah, same idea.) So, yeah. TV Junkie. Me. Next. -- Pauley

When I was growing up, I used to watch at least 4-5 hours of TV a night. I come home from school, turned on the television and did my homework while watching those mid-afternoon cartoons (GI Joe, Thundercats, Transformers, He-Man, etc.) followed by stuff on PBS (3-2-1 Contact, Square One, Reading Rainbow) before I watched whatever crappy comedy was on TV in the evening hours. Anyway....now I tend to watch far less television each week. My main viewing nights for the past couple of weeks are Sundays (King of the Hill, Simpsons, Futurama, Six Feet Under, Alias, Queer as Folk), Tuesdays (Smallville), Wednesdays (The West Wing), and Thursdays (Friends, Scrubs, Will & Grace) as well as the local news for the weather report, 2 reality shows (Survivor and The Amazing Race, when they are on), and sometimes stuff on BBC America (Coupling, So Graham Norton), TLC (Trading Spaces, Junkyard Wars) and Daria on Noggin...but that's about it! (Mostly) Okay, it might seem like lots of TV for one person, but it's far, far less than what I watched before. ... at least 4-5 hours of TV a night...did my homework while watching ...whatever crappy comedy was on TV... Me too! Exactly!!! Except that before He-Man and Thundercats, I'd watch the second half on General Hopsital. And my mom taped Days and Another World, so I'd catch them too.

I tend to watch only the following programs, starting with Monday.
Monday: WWE RAW - if I feel like it, lately not. Wednesday: Enterprise Thursday: CSI and maybe some of WWE Smackdown. Friday: Stargate SG-1 (whenever it starts up again) Saturday: Foods Unwrapped, Top 5 Sunday: CSI, Charmed (if my fiance is watching it, sometimes I will too). That's about it. Other than the news for the weather.

.....but a lot less than I used to. The net has really been good for cutting down my tv time. Actually I guess I should blame it on computers, I actually cut way down long before I got internet service. But still I like to watch news and current affairs sometimes and Trading Spaces and While you were out anytime. Sometimes Simpsons if I haven't seen it before, and I try to remember to watch Play. Occasionally I will watch stuff that I hear mentioned around here or elsewhere, CSI comes to mind. Watched one or two Enterprise episodes but didn't get hooked.

TV is just pretty much constantly on at our place. Not actively watched, much of the time, but it's a background type thing.
My folks do that too, the TV is CONSTANTLY on. Most of the time with the mute on. They'll get a phone call, put the TV on mute, and then they're too lazy to turn the mute button back off. It's funny when I have to tell them, "Hey, you've been watching TV with the mute on for 30 minutes now...." That is when you KNOW you're a couch potato.
Yeah...our TV also always has the captioning on, whether muted or not, so it's easy to forget to have the volume on. Heee. :) Sometimes it's more fun to read a show.

now I barely atch tv but that is because I don't have one. I watch top of the pops at my friends house (for those who don;t know it is a British chart show) as much to abuse the eurodisco acts as anything else. Other than that nothing except the odd film or documentary. Amazing doc on the moscow seige the other day. Absolute carnage shocked me and made me cry.
top of the pops is really appalling these days. except for the eurodisco acts, of course, which you just gotta love :D i can't watch totp anymore. i go online between 7.30 and 9 on a friday, thus missing totp, eastenders, and whatever crap comedy show happens to be on before friends in one fell swoop. go me! :D
Yeah for top of the pops but boo for being online during it I was going to phone you at 830 this friday.........watch it with Steve he is a fan of Busted and also Kim Marsh heck he probably likes all the popstars. My block is all serious music geeks like me and closet fans of certain female singers.... Not enough to make me watch much telly though. Sleep more and also harrass hot young CU members

That's all I used to watch, for like three years. Then I started watching Angel when it spun off and those were the only two I watched. Then i gave up Angel midway through the second season and was back to only Buffy. And when I mean only Buffy, I mean that they could have taken away my television and only brought it in on Tuesday nights and 8:00 for one hour and I would have been fine because I literally did not ever turn it on otherwise. Then Angel sucked me back in third season and it all went downhill from there. :)

Am I the only one that gets pleasure from seeing that nice bell curve? Does that mean I should get a kick in the ass?
