the all mighty senators were here in chicago recently and everyone kept referring to them as an "obscure" band. i keep forgetting i'm not in baltimore anymore. :)
Zach Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
This is the name of a potential band. There's no actual members yet, just the name:

Naked in the Bedroom and the Malignent Moles
or
The Popes

Can you picture it? Little girls waiting out by the limozeen screaming for the front man, "NAKED! NAKED!"

Bliss.

>Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start

The Contra unlimited lives code!!! hahaha! sweet! that's too awesome.

My personal favourite band name is credited to my brother for coming up with it, although i imagine somewhere there's a band called this: Diet Starts Monday.  That's just too perfect.  If i were to start a band tht would be our name, and our first hit would be "Calories don't count when you eat standing up".

Tessa Miller · 21 years, 9 months ago

Hawkwind... it's corny but sounds cool :)

also my favorite spoof band name would have to be the Rutles, spoofing the beatles and their best spoof song would have to be "Major Happy's Up And Coming Once Upon A Good Time Band" which spoofed Sgt.Pepper's :)

Snow In Summer · 21 years, 9 months ago
Hookers & Blow, but I'm going to assume that not everyone reads Blender with as much detail as I do (or at all for that matter).  Really, it's not that bad after getting past all the scantily clad women... besides, not everyone reads Dirty Linen.  :-)
nate... · 21 years, 9 months ago
Bigg Nife?

Or Limozeen?

All you need to have a good band name is a really cool last name. You know, like Van Halen....or Dokken....or, to a lesser extent, Z'Nuff....
siobhan's a londoner · 21 years, 9 months ago

bentley rhythm ace (bra)

super furry animals (sfa)

gorky's zygotic mynci (pronounced gorky's psychotic monkey)

and oh I forget now but Super Furru Animals had Sir Paul McCartney on one of their songs eating celery and are th first band ever to release their album on CD and DVD at the same time.

Adam Hartfield Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
I have some SFA stuff and I really like "Ysbeidiau Heulog" from Mwng, and "(Drawing) Rings Around the World" from Rings Around The World.
siobhan's a londoner Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
Paul "Macca" MCCartney was  doing his celery thing on the album rings around the world.  This is a band I liked when i was thirteen when my (soon to be) boyfriend taped some sfa stuff for me and coloured in the heart on Hermann loves Pauline.  That was how i knew he liked me.  Didn't last though we still talk mostly about music, that will be our eternal bond.
siobhan's a londoner Back · 21 years, 9 months ago

Yeah i posted this twice so now have edited it to make me look only marginally foolish!

Michael (foof) Maki · 21 years, 9 months ago
I maintain the "God is My Copilot" is the best band name ever.
Gordondon son of Ethelred · 21 years, 9 months ago
There are bands that took their names from two of my favorite Z movies. Robot Monster and Mars Needs Women. I have a MNW album.
Heatseeker Tyco · 21 years, 9 months ago

There likely -is- a basnd with this name, but if not I would love to have a group called 'The Heebs' a friend of mine had a great name for a hypothetical band " The Big, Shiny, Black Leather Boot of Opression'

Heatseeker Tyco Back · 21 years, 9 months ago

'Nuf Sed

Chixdiggit!

Shooglenifty

Hoobastank

yeah. cool names

Arbie · 21 years, 9 months ago

Oh, there are so many....

The Flaming Lips  (can't you just imagine their logo? even without seeing any thing thy've done?)

Commander Cody and his Lost Planet Airmen

Men Without Hats

to name a few...

Arbie Back · 21 years, 9 months ago

I forgot:

Freddy Fuddpucker and his Rolling Clones.

Silly me, I'm in that band.

Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
Commander Cody was my favorite as a kid since I used to love watching the old Commander Cody serials on TV.
Chaya Papaya Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
i just wanted to take this moment to say that anyone that hasn't heard the flaming lips (or seen their cd case) is really really really really really really missing out!
angelmusicmaven Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
No, forget just looking at the CD art... everyone needs to get Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots... what a freak.ing.great.cd. AND go see them live too.
no one · 21 years, 9 months ago
"Free Beer" was the name of a band doing the pub circuit around Sydney a while ago.
Andrea Krause Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
Yeah there's a similar one around the New York area I used to see flyers for. "Free Beer and Chicken"...I always thought it was brilliant. :)

Iborrowed a modest mouse t-shirt off my friend for three weeks as it fitted me better than him (as it is a girl's skinny fit tee). I have never heard their music but I always liked the name as it is cute. Are they any good?
zil Back · 21 years, 9 months ago

dude. they are VERY good.

if you frum me your address I'll see if I can get you some.

John J. Ryan · 21 years, 9 months ago

Just so they have have the band name ALWAYS first on an alphabetical list:

!!!

Yup, the name of the band is !!!.

Laura P. Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
how do you pronounce that?
Andrea Krause Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
Maybe you don't. Maybe you just put your eyebrows up and make surprised/scared eyes. :)
John J. Ryan Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
The pronunciation is Chik Chik Chik.
nate... Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
Uhhh.

Then why did they not name their band "chik chik chik"?
Because, "!!!" has nothing at all to do with that.
Laura P. Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
I was thinking it would be like "Hey!Hey!Hey!" or "What! What! What!", maybe even "ExclamationCubed."Do some people call a "!" a "Chik" (like a period can be called a dot)?
nate... Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
Huh.
Maybe!

I've never heard it.. maybe it's a regional thing?
Rachel Beck Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
I think it should be "factorial factorial factorial".
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
OOO a math joke from a poet.

I was on the math team in Intermediate school. The problem is that my school only went up to the 8th grade and all the schools we competed against went up to the 9th. One meet there was a question about 5! and we didn't know what it meant. We thought it was FIVE with emphasis :-)
Zach Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
There have been several occasions in which I have made the same mistake. I just thought that the five was very enthusiastic. To each their own, you know?
Eri Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
Just because that's not what the "!" means doesn't mean that the five isn't enthusiastic, though! ;)
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
Puhleeze, every mathematician is aware that fives are notoriously phlegmatic. Eights on the other hand can be driven to a frenzy at the slightest provocation. Thus the expression "crazy eights!"
Gordondon son of Ethelred · 21 years, 9 months ago
Have I mentioned Sex Mob? They not only have a great name but they keep getting voted "Best Jazz Band in NYC." You have to love a band with a slide trumpet.
Arbie Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
Cool! Does the slide trumpet also have valves? If it does it is probably a Holton Firebird. If not I think it is probably a Getzen. Tough instrument to play well either way. I always wanted to get one to play around with.
Mamalissa! · 21 years, 9 months ago

Oboe-Cop

Gordondon son of Ethelred · 21 years, 2 months ago
