I'm not even supposed to be here today!
K-Lyn Back · 20 years, 6 months ago
While I like other KS movies better this IS the best line out there!
meh · 20 years, 6 months ago
I'm torn between Chasing Amy and Dogma. But Clerks is just so quotable too...

I picked Dogma because I really like it. But in general and with most of the others, I think they're pretty overrated. Or at least...I don't get why people are so gaga for them. Especially Clerks. Mallrats is okay. Hated Chasing Amy. Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back was funny but I doubt I'd want to see it again.

It's weird. I like Kevin Smith himself but most of his stuff leaves me meh.

Mollie Back · 20 years, 6 months ago
Yeah, I'm just not a fan. Chasing Amy was very irritating to me, and Dogma literally put me to sleep. That leaves me without motivation to seek out the others. *shrug*

*blink*

Dude, you are so totally backwards. Mallrats had no substance whatsoever. Chasing Amy just rocks hard. Clerks is, as has been stated, irresistably quotable. Jay and Silent Bob Strike back was just a series of inside jokes, which is cool, but meh.
nate... Back · 20 years, 6 months ago
umm.. sorry, YOU are backwards.

Mallrats was the most fun/enjoyable... chasing amy sucked.... clerks was, well.. kinda meh... and jay and silent bob was okay.

[edit: and.. of course... dogma was a great flick... if a bit too full of itself.]
Andrea Krause Back · 20 years, 6 months ago

Yeah well I am a lowbrow audience, after all. My tastes rarely seem to agree with those who have knowledge and taste. Guess I suck.

The problem I see with Clerks being quotable is that everytime you quote it it's hard not to realize that you can act 10x better than anyone in the movie trying to deliver the same dialogue.

Maybe it's like Bob Dylan or something. I'd need to see a "cover movie" of Clerks to like it. You know, interpreted through people with actual performance talent.

nate... Back · 20 years, 6 months ago
AMEN.

That, in a nutshell, is my major problem with Clerks.

It's a movie done by film students... and.... looks like a movie done by film students.

danced with Lazlo Back · 20 years, 6 months ago
Well, see, I think the bad acting is part of the charm of Clerks.

But then again, I'm CRAZY!
Talcott · 20 years, 6 months ago
I voted for Clerks, because it's my overall favorite, but here's how I seem them...

Clerks: Best dialouge.
Mallrats: Most fun
Chasing Amy: Best acting
Dogma: Best plot
Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back: Best extended inside joke / Best looking
An Evening With Kevin Smith: Best stories

and, let's not forget
Clerks: The Animated Series: Best driving bear.
Zach Back · 20 years, 6 months ago

Oh my God! Bear driving! How can that be?!?!?

You sum it up BEAUTIFULLY!!!!

What about Vulgar?

Just playing, I voted Dogma... Vulgar is nasty, but worth seeing if you are a Kevin Smith fan

renita Back · 20 years, 6 months ago
that was directed by someone else, it was just produced by view askew.
renita Back · 20 years, 6 months ago
thanks jaci, I was too lazy to look it up ;D

you rock my socks.
A girl named Becca · 20 years, 6 months ago
Dude, I suggested this poll like a year ago. *Pout.

Anyway, I voted for Dogma - perhaps it spoke to me more than the others because I'm a, uh, semi-Catholic, or perhaps I just plain liked it better than the others, I dunno. I think it has an excellent balance of intellectual humor and, ya know, Jay humor. :)
Chaya Papaya Back · 20 years, 6 months ago
semi-catholic???

and it's all about chasing amy...i mean dogma is just a little too....out there!

nate... · 20 years, 6 months ago
Between Dogma and Mallrats.

But I went with Mallrats... it's just more fun.
nate... · 20 years, 6 months ago
You spelled favorite wrong.

Andrea Krause Back · 20 years, 6 months ago

Dude. Give it a rest. :) You're giving us ugly americans a bad name.

whos kevin smith?
Nick Collins Back · 20 years, 6 months ago

I realize that he did these movies, (none of which I am familiar with), but I need more, did he direct themn? Or did he write AND direct them? Does he make cameos in them ala Alfred Hitchcock? I have never heard his name. Does he creep through the shadowsunknown to us, periodically surfacing to make a film? Is he mainstream or independant? Does he have some strange characteristic that makes people like myself shun him whenever he is in the spotlight?I crave information!

goovie is married! Back · 20 years, 6 months ago
kevin smith kicks ass. he wrote, directed, and acted in all of those movies. do yourself a favor and go rent them all, like, now.

well, except for jay and silent bob. :)
Talcott Back · 20 years, 6 months ago

I enjoy all of the works for different reasons.

and as a side note, Clerks special edition disc set will be out October of 2004, and will include things like the flying car, as well as a possible animated version of the lost scene.
