If I were a Christian I probably wouldn't give anything up.
Wait, I would I'd give up cruises on my yacht. In fact I will. I promise to not go on any cruises on my yacht during lent. Not only that but I won't even buy a yacht. I won't even play Yachtzee.

On a related tangent...my church just approved building a new sanctuary and yesterday was the groundbreaking followed by next week a teardown of the old structure.  We're going to hang up a banner that says  "We gave up our sanctuary for Lent, watch for the resurrection."   *rimshot*

I gave up 2 this year:
-chocolate
-listening to music while I drive

So far, so good. I'm generally pretty successful with my sacrifices. One year I managed no TV, once it was meat, last year it was computer games. The only one I remember failing at was sarcasm, but I sure did try...

i believe you also failed the year you gave up being the grammar police.

I've been working on giving up Lashon HaRah since Yom Kippur.

I do badly at it around my mother and sister. Women, I tell you!
