To paraphrase George Costanza: Paying for LJ is like paying for parking which is like going to a prostitute. It is paying for something you can get for free if you are willing to put in the time and effort.

except it's not. there are features on LJ you simply cannot get for free no matter how much time and effort you put in.

*shame* I only really have a paid account because I needed a billion icon slots in my fanny frenzy. :) I don't post much at all.

I take my blog like I take my music.

My LJ is only in existence to view and comment on other peoples' LJs. I do my actual blogging on an external site.

I like to have a paid account for the extra icons and polls, but mine ran out shortly after heading to school, and I don't want to use my credit card in the school library (or over open WiFi). Happily, the style that I use became a free option at some point, so my site doesn't look too different.

Also, the voice post option was quite handy while moving half-way across the country.

It was paid.  For the nifty stuff.  Alas, due to waay many circumstances (most of which entirely far beyond my control) I don't have the money for that crazy stuff now.  I've had to cancel everything I could remember, and start watching my e-mail for hints of subscriptions to things I dont' remember that I'm a paid-not-free member of.  Um, yay?
