Dan · 19 years, 4 months ago
Has anyone here memorized the chorous of JohnnySaucepan yet?
sheryls Back · 19 years, 4 months ago

Dan Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
what hand motions?!
sheryls Back · 19 years, 4 months ago

you don't know? ;)

hee - j/k.

you kind have to see it, but in concert they do little hand motions.

*ponders* i wonder if anyone around here has a video feed of a show with saucep'n on it :P

ETA: sorry, Jian does little hand motions.

caroline: tired. Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
hand motions?! why was i not informed?
-edit- (after i saw the last part of the post before mine)
jian?!? why was i not informed?!?
sheryls Back · 19 years, 4 months ago

you guys know there are hand motions for Drinking Song too, right?

right?!?! :D

don't forget we're a cult.

caroline: tired. Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
you can't be serious....really? this is more of a cult than i thought...
and yet i'm still here. i hafta say, you guys, you're a very nice cult.
sheryls Back · 19 years, 4 months ago

welcome. here is your hockey jersey. you can lie down over there!

caroline: tired. Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
See? that's exactly what I mean...such a nice, kind, thoughtful, cult. all those other evil cults are giving you guys a bad name.
by the way----------
what hockey jersey? some kind of cult initiation?
sheryls Back · 19 years, 4 months ago

oh yeah, that comic reminded me that Pisco had some scattered hand movements too, but i think they were fan-invented and not band-invented.

the shows were somewhat rocky-horror-ish, with random things you're supposed to yell or do at certain parts. most of them don't make a whole lot of sense.

SPORTS!

sheryls Back · 19 years, 4 months ago

there are 2 jerseys. one sold by the band, and one made by one fan of the band and distributed to i believe 20 of his closest friends.

they were, unfortunately, so large that they were more of a dress on many of the ladyfolk, but hey :P

caroline: tired. Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
i'm a pretty tall ladyfolk though...lol. that's cool.
*sigh* so much i have to learn about this cult....
sheryls Back · 19 years, 4 months ago

hmm, i'm 5'3" and it was a dress on me, for sure :P but, it was wide as well as long!

the lovely renita and i had the idea to belt them and just wear them with fishnets and heels :P

caroline: tired. Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
im 5' 8"..but not that wide.
sounds fun....
Dan Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
Woah, you're 5' 8"?! AH!makes me feel short.
caroline: tired. Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
What's with the funny looking smilies? and yes, i'm 5' 8".
Actually, 5' 7 3/4", but close enough.
nate... Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
shortie.

(says the 6'3" guy)

caroline: tired. Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
my history teacher is like 6' 6" or something...and all serious and imposing and whatnot.

*sniff* I never got a hockey jersey. All I have are a Budgiedog Fru-definition T and a Your New Boyfriend T.
sheryls Back · 19 years, 4 months ago

most of my other tees are gone.

i sent my 2 baby tees, "your new girlfriend" and "i *heart* canandian boys" to Donna and Emilie, respetively.

i had the YWGTTM cover white T but it was stolen along with all my other tees. and the frucon 2 black tee. and the philly folkfest tee :( stupid box of tees getting stolen!

i still have the heather-and-baby-blue baseball fitted tee and the maroon tank top tho o.O

Bender Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
my bucket hat was stolen in school freshman year.

bleh.
sheryls Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
i sold mine on ebay - to chris!
Bender Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
that's a hoot
ChrisChin is Getting Old Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
...which I then gave to emilie!

(though I kept the budgiedog pin for myself).

heh. i've skanked, liek, everyone's frumerch. i rule.
stealthlori Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
wanna skank my MF baby tank top too? khaki/olive green, with the same logo as on fhdc printed on the chest in orange. it's one-size-fits-some-wot-aren't-middleaged. :D
nitsita Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
I remember wanting to skank that from you at that DVN show at the Point near(in?) philly two years ago and it never happened! ::angst:: ;D
stealthlori Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
yeah, and it went to 2 FRFFs hoping to go home with you, too, with no such luck.

at this point, whichever of you frums me their snailmail first gets it. assuming i can find it, that is. :D
stealthlori Back · 19 years, 4 months ago

hee, she so flattered me!
Bender Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
ohhhh. so *you're* that hot one.

I've been wondering this for years.
sheryls Back · 19 years, 4 months ago

she took it from this picture. so, having no scale for body, she made me rediculously skinny o.O

A.J. Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
That is so funny. I look at that picture and thought that she'd drawn you a bit heavy. I thought maybe I'd forgotton due to your current weight loss, but no way was that drawing too SKINNY! And you have always been soooo teh hot one. :P
sheryls Back · 19 years, 4 months ago

i just remember thinking that there's no way i'd look that good in a dress like that back then o.O

nowadays, i cant say i'd ever wear a floor-length dress with short sleeves belted without looking like a school marm ;)

A.J. Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
Geez I can no longer tell for sure who all those people are. That is scary! Help me fill in the list!

Left to right:

1. Phil Schwan????
2. Chrissy
3. MC
4. Kath
5. Mary Krause
6. Sheryl
7. Um.... Doug Levy, or Doug Shepperd (How can it look like both of them???)
8. No clue... Nitsa?
9. Hugo
10. Katrin's husband, what was his name?
11. Katrin

How wrong am I?
Agent Scully Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
7. Um.... Doug Levy, or Doug Shepperd (How can it look like both of them???)

As far as I remember, it was Doug Sheppard and No. 8 is Drea.
Bender Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
#9 is Mr. Sheppard, actually :)

I covet his cartoon jacket.
sheryls Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
then who is #7 behind me, next to Mary? is that Dave?
Bender Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
I'll ask D when he gets home. Hell, he might not even remember

By Dave, you mean Pirmann?
sheryls Back · 19 years, 4 months ago

yesma'am.

Bender Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
now that I look at it, I think it's a distinct possibility.

now if there was any way to get in contact with katrin, this mystery would be ovah!

alas, she's been elusive.
sheryls Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
and the first guy, now that i remember, is a guy who is friends with katrin and tom, but i think he lives in colorado and therefore nofew othersbut them knew him verra well :P
Bender Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
I have such a crush on Bernie.
stealthlori Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
i always was under the impression that was Doug Levy. I seem to recall discussion of "the two Dougs".

or that may just be another of my delusions.
Bender Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
It's my Doug. It's also him in the next strip, if you look.

I'd know that face anywhere... I mean, there would be major issues if I didn't ;P
Dan Back · 19 years, 4 months ago

What? your name is 'hardcore ovaries'?!?!

Amazing!

I never thought i'd ever meet a person with hardcore ovaries...

A.J. Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
But she's asking about the other guy, #7 who may be Dave P. He also looks a lot like Doug L.
Bender Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
oh, duh.

sorry, I often have trouble with following the threads.
Bender Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
never mind. I suck.

Bender Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
he's not my neighbor.
sheryls Back · 19 years, 4 months ago

Katrin's husband = Tom.

and #1 is not phil :P i dont remember his name, but i'm pretty sure it's not phil.

nitsita Back · 19 years, 4 months ago

I'm touched :D

Unfortunatly, I didn't exist in the live show scene at the point.. I never did, really. Too young I am ;)

dirty life & times Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
i think i existed (i seem to have the impression that my first live show was sheryljean's also? maybe?), but not as frequent & besides i'm invisible.

dirty life & times Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
yes! & you hated me. cause i screamed. you had a picture of me on your website & everything!

:)
sheryls Back · 19 years, 4 months ago

*facepalm* i was so hoping you wouldn't bring that up. my #1 misjudgement in history!

you screamed in my ear, was all ;)

i still feel awful about that :(

dirty life & times Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
i was mortified & embarrassed when i first found it, but now i just think it's funny. :)

these days, i try to only scream at concerts when there's enough noise going on anyhow, like trying to get an encore or something. but i don't know what it's like to stand next to me screaming, either. ;)
Dan Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
snicker.
sheryls Back · 19 years, 4 months ago

yeah, i was mortified and embarrased when you told me o.O

that'll teach me to be an asshole to anyone.

i was a newbie fruhead (frubie?). forgive?

nate... Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
Well, see? I think you're BOTH the better for it!

One learned that anything said online can be found.... and the other learned that screaming like an idiot at a show is poor form!

All in all, I think it all worked out for the best. :)

Michael (foof) Maki Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
Chrissy? Drea? Tom and Katrin? MC?

Hugo?!?!

Jesus, talk about a blast from the past.
A.J. Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
Actually there are two answers to this question, because WAYYYYYYYYYYY back in the day (like 1998) it was common amongst EAST COAST fruheads to do the handjive to Johnny Saucep'n. This is something that Midwesterners mostly never ever did (except Chad). This behavior died out sometime after Frucon one, I believe. I guess once east and west finallly mixed, the the western fruheads came out victorious. Boo Yah! ;D
A.J. Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
LOL! I would imagine every single one of us knows it by heart by now. :)

100% dainty! · 19 years, 4 months ago
I TOTALLY mess up some of the words

what i sing is something like this, which is mostly right

Basil endive parmesan shrimp live
lobster hamster wurster munster
caviar Ricky-o, snowpeas, scampi
Roquefort bee-bop blue beef, red alert
pork chops side flanks cantaloupe cheese steaks
provolone flatbread goats head soup
gruyere cheese engineered please and a veechees
swaz and the cabbage and the crawfish claws

You know, though, . . .whenever they sing "that strange and wonderful food" it really sounds like "that strange and warm nipple food"
A.J. Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
basil endive parmesan shimp live

roquefort meat squirt blue beef red alert

a cabbage and the crawfish claws.
Dan Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
Wow, it does sound like "warm nipple food". Moreso live then on the b album.I just listened to it and it was pretty clear. I think they say it on purpose!
angelmusicmaven Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
that's ok... during King of Spain in the "orchestra" part it always sounds like someone's saying "do me." LOL
A.J. Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
Heh. Actually I think it is "blow me" and it isn't just that it sounds like it. Listen to the original indie tape version. It is Jian and very clear.
caroline: tired. Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
hmm...i heard in the the live noise AND the bargainville ones...hehe
:O
Wow...you can tell it's jian too...it comes out of my left earbud...its sorta high pitched kinda sorta maybe.
angelmusicmaven Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
hahah, it always struck me more as "do me" on Bargainville and "blow me" on the indie tape. Brilliant.
caroline: tired. Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
you're right about bargainville. i've never heard the indie tape... :(
It sounds like "blow me" on live noise tho.
danced with Lazlo · 19 years, 4 months ago
at meat squirt... and again at side flank.

But I *know* it, yeah. And I can usually sing it up to live show speed.
Bender Back · 19 years, 4 months ago

nah, I breathe usually around where Jian does. *hangs head*

Brent Miller · 19 years, 4 months ago
A few years ago, Marianne and I were working on the design of the FruCon5 shirts. If you go to the attached link you'll find one of our discarded designs:

http://www.millersquared.com/johnny.saucepn

Since the design didn't exactly say "FruCon5" we rejected the idea. Eventually, we incorporated the design into a pizza box that would be used for mailing the shirts, but that aspect of the project became too expensive, so we had to abandon the idea. But since the topic of Johnny Saucepn' came up, I thought I would post the image. I'm sure that the literary minded among you will recognize who's image we used for Johnny.
Andrea Krause Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
Dude, I want a shirt of that now! :)
Brent Miller · 19 years, 4 months ago
If there's enough interest in the design. I could post an EPS (encapsulated postscript) on our website. Then FruHeads could download the image (which is infinitely scaleable) and print their own shirts using a printer/copier, transfer paper and a hot iron. Other options include Cafe Press (http://www.cafepress.com) and Kinko's. Of course, nothing beats "screen printing" - but that's going to COST. That's how we did the FruCon 1 through 5 shirts. There remains one issue. Those FruCon shirts were produced with the permission of the band. That could be an issue with this design.
nate... Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
THat... is *so* awesome.

I wants.

I like the encapPS idea..... and if we all do our own versions... don't sell, there shouldn't be a band issue.

A.J. Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
I don't think there is an issue anyway. As far as I know, they haven't trademarked "Johnny Saucep'n" and their copyright is on the song itself, not the title of the song. The only owner of any itellectual property in that image would be Brent and Marianne.
sheryls Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
i think he's talking about the MF logo, but i could be crazy?
A.J. Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
Nope, you're crazy! ;)
Dan Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
I think hes talking about Johnny Saucepan
nate... Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
I think he's talking about a llama.

Brent Miller · 19 years, 4 months ago
Although we designed the "MF" logo, the band owns the copyright to the logo. That is because we gave them the logo and all the rights. We did this because the band was kind enough to allow us to print and distribute the FruCon shirts for five years.

If there were enough people who wanted screen printed shirts, we would ask the bands permission (out of respect), then take orders. Otherwise, posting an EPS file on our website (or on fruhead.com) for people to download doesn't seem like a big deal. Especially if nobody is making a penny off of the idea.

The problem comes once the high-resolution EPS file is posted. At that point, the genie's out of the bottle and it could end up anywhere, on anything without any control by the designers (us) or the band. By the way, Marianne and I both want shirts too - screen printed or homemade.

Any thoughts?
dirty life & times Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
i have a screen, & access to a studio (i am in art school) but i'm just a beginner.... i see how to do it, but i can't guarantee i'd do it straight & not smudgey.

um, i don't know if that's your question, but the option of me printing out shirts is tentatively out there.
A.J. Back · 19 years, 4 months ago
Unless Miriam can do it, I think cafe press would be the best bet. Then everybody could get shirts or various orther items and they'd be relatively cheap. Sure the quality isn't as great, but they'd be good enough for people to enjoy. :)
sheryls · 19 years, 3 months ago
thanks guys. this thread has finally haunted my dreams.

last night i dreamt (that sooooooooooooomeboooooooooody loooooooooved me.......no hope, no..er, sorry.) that my mom was some sort of psycho nurse, and she kept stabbing me in the chest with a needle to draw..something, it wasnt blood (needles are my BIGGEST fear) and she kept saying "it's a new way to test for Johnny Saucep'n!"

o.O and i said "MOM. LOOK at my SKIN. HOW could i have Johnny Saucep'n?"

clearly, Johnny Saucep'n is a skin condition.
