Out of these choices, which dressing would you pick for your salad?

I usually pick ranch to go with most of my salads. Yum.
we use ranch mostly as a crudite dip around here, not as a dressing on a leafy salad. it is totally yummy, but it tends to smother baby leaves, which we use a lot of.

Okay, this may sound a little strange, but it's what I've been doing of late.
1. A few blue cheese crumbles. (I've had a tasty Roquefort cheese from Denmark. Avoid Bel Gioso (Domestic) like the plague. I've had some Stella cheese (Domestic) that was also very flavorful.) 2. A drizzle of low fat italian. (Right now, I'm using up a bottle of Newman's Own Light Italian) 3. A splash of aged balsamic vinegar. (No, not the real good stuff, just the 3 year aged stuff.)

I'm not a fan of thick, creamy salad dressings, so it's Italian, or if it's not offered at a restaurant, I just get oil and vinegar.
and made properly, 'caesar' isn't really a dressing as an entire salad, and really even more of an art than that... it's definitely my favourite, but I just couldn't vote for it as a dressing. so many places offer lame 'creamy caesar' dressing now that it's hard to find a good caesar salad anywhere.

Italian is the only dressing I really like much.
But that's not too bad, because I don't mind eating dry salad. I'm just glad that the nation's ranch obsession is passing. I remember going to some fast food place in the mood for salad and seeing "light", "fat-free", and normal ranch offered, but no Italian. I'm also fine with just olive oil. Not so much vinegar though. It still makes me think of the elementary school gym floor. What's really good though is olive oil, steak seasoning, and parmesan cheese. Not healthy, but good ;-)

It is the most evil of dressings.
Not because of anything related to salads, but because it is often served with fried food and looks a lot like nacho cheese (also often served with fried food). It's just not nice to be expecting some nacho-goodness only to be greated by the mayo-in-the-sun evil of Thousand Island. Erm. I should go to bed now ;-)
Is that regional? I've never ever seen thousand island served with fried foods. :)
I have, but not in a while. But thousand island is only good on Big Macs.
that's not thousand island. that's onion petal sauce. Thousand island: onion petal sauce(applebee's variety): Thousand island is a bit sweeter, but they are both mayo-and-ketchup based. so if it's the mayo/ketchup you squick at, i can see where you get that :D
my dad used to make his own elementary thousand island dressing of just mayo, ketchup and pickle relish. it was marvelously good on a basic iceberg-cuke-tomato-onion salad.
i've never really figured out the difference between thousand island and Russian. some cookbooks say Russian has hard-boiled egg and/or caviar in it, but commercially they're usually indistinguishable.
Does anyone else immediately think of Spike when they see or hear "bloomin' onions?"
Well, I voted for Catalina, which I still consider French dressing. I'm the "french dressing-preferably catalina if you have it" type. :)
Catalina is the dark orange/red french dressing...not creamy, has a honeyish aspect to it, sweet and tangy...love it. I'll take "normal" french as my second choice.

oil and vinegar with salt and pepper... and maybe some other seasonings if i'm in the mood.
olive oil. and then any of the following, apple cider, malt, balsamic, or rice. i'm not a big fan of wine vinegars on salad though. i usually put lots and lots of vinegar on it... and then... sometimes... i drink the leftover vinegar mmmm. i got into yoghurt dressings when i was in germany, but haven't made any since i got back. and a roommate of mine used to make this awesome tuna salad with balsamic, cream, salt, and a bit of sugar dressing... so much tastier than you'd expect it to be! I first read "yoghurt" dressings as "doughnut" dressings and was imagining some very odd things. :)
1) chop up one cider doughnut
2) mix with a cup or so of apple cider, brown sugar to taste, cinnamon, and a tablespoon of butter 3) nuke until butter is melted and it all stirs together into a warm bubbly oozy creation 4) spoon over "mixed salad" of apples, pears, raisins and walnuts i just made this up on a lark, and it doesn't sound half bad. :D

bleu bleu bleu bleu!
(she says, insistently.) although, the best weird dressing i ever had was a combo bleu cheese/French dressing that Loblaw's used to sell. it was teh yum. I haven't seen it in forever though (liek, even when I go to Canada, not just here.) So apparently its charms were lost on the world other than Andrew and me. Of the non-listed dressings, there's a homemade number I do with extra-v olive oil, balsamic vinegar, minced shallots, and a touch of honey. Oh mannnnn is that good stuff.
