History of the Beatles... the class.

Discussion: History of the Beatles... the class.
Samantha · 20 years, 2 months ago

Does anyone elses university have a class on the History of the Beatles? Mine does.. and I find myself enrolled in it. My textbook? The Beatles Anthology.

So.. now .. I'll be spending 3 hours of my week studying the Fab Four.. their history.. their music.. and their influence on the world.

and another plus.. I get an Arts and Humanities credit for this.

Next semester, it's History of Rock And Roll for me :)

My college has/had "Jazz Rock Foundations", "American Pop Music", "Urban Blues and Rock" and "Hollywood Musicals." I was enrolled in these classes from 1990-1992 depending on the semester they were offered.

The only one I couldn't sit through was "Modern Jazz." I'm not a jazz fan. :(

I am rather fond of R2-D2 myself. I sacrificed my first born, a son born to a Mexican virgin to him in 1975, exactly two years before my own birth and before Star Wars!

I took it last semester - it was awesome. It's really interesting to see the way they developed, and to hear their music in chronological order - you can actually hear which elements of music they picked up from where, and how things they did affected music made after them.

Better get some practice filling out unemployment forms too... ;)

I'm kidding, it's good to see that a liberal arts education still exists. And it sure beats staring at slides of Nude Descending a Staircase for a week.

My school has a class about the Beatles too. I took it last fall, but I already knew more about the Beatles than was taught in class as I have been studying them since sixth grade. I already owned/read the books we were using. One of them was Shout! by I think Norm McDonald. The book was full of errors.

The school also offered a Zappa/Beefheart class last semester and a Broadway Musical class this semester.

I figured he would start every chapter with "Germans love David Hasselhoff"
