i never realized quite how often the mental health topic was dealt with by the ramones! although i find that to "beat on the brat with a baseball bat, oh yeah" is the most effective treatment personally.

Yeah I considered that, but I actually had to limit the songs (so many with loony themes!) so I kept those that were more on topic. Heeee. :)

Thank you Andrea for putting this particular poll together. I am a huge Ramones fan! Psycho Therapy is still one of my favorites and I just had to vote for it! My friend made me a CD last year for Hannukah entitled "Mental Illness Vol. 1". It not only contains Ramones songs, but many other great songs by Queen (I'm Going Slightly Mad), Pink Floyd (Brain Damage), Supertramp (Just Another Nervous Wreck). There are a lot songs about mental illness from well known bands that I had no idea even existed! My friend Mike is great at taking a topic and coming up with a great mix on a CD. You would be amazed how many mental illness songs there actually are out there!

:)

I actually made a mix like that in high school...it too had many Ramones songs, and the Queen song you mentioned, and many other things. I put the whole song on if it was purely mental themed, or a clip on if just one line really fit the theme but the rest didn't so much. I interspersed all of this with talking clips of Marvin the Paranoid Android talking about depression from the Hitchhiker's radio tapes. Heeee. :) I love making theme mixes.
