I'm not exactly in a band but I do manage one.

I was in a band my sophomore year in highschool.. with my friend Ashley.. we were a girlie duo called Ugly Mona [which eventually somehow evolved but never stuck with "Ken's Nipples"]... we wrote one good song called "Open Invitation".. which we wrote about Ashley.. our friend kelly co-wrote it.. My mom had said Ashley looked like a druggie.. and Kelly's mom said she looked like a Lesbian... so we wrote about it..
"We know she does drugs, so we know she's no wussy she doesn't like dick, but she eats alot of pussy she wakes up every morning lying on the floor and everybody knows that she's a big dyke whore she's the one with an open invitation she couldn't tell you how or why she's into masturbation her mother says she can't take her anymore cause nobody wants to be a big dyke whore" can you tell how stoned we were?

ahh bands .. how i miss being in them sometimes.
Moon Child didn't last long, but we climbed quickly locally because of diversity in performance. several incarnations too from duo to 5-piece full band. whee! then there was my favorite. Richard Nixon's Turnip Farm. oh lucien holmes, how i miss your accordian virtuosity and lyrical genius. how i so enjoyed accompanying you on bass outside the school gym and playing christmas music and hoping people would give us change. :D i hope marriage hasn't stifled you. -= george =- nwo that i'm thinking about it, i -was- in a one-man band once upon a time ... we broke up, unfortunately. too much internal fighting... -= george =-

I jammed with the Neilds on stage at the Iron Horse, and played shaker egg with Bernie at Jammin' Java.

i'm too much of a control freak/social reject for bands, as i've discovered over the years.
Bands are real exercises in teamwork and family roles and every one is different... like any other family or relationship. I think bands often have troubles when the roles in the band are unclear--especially the question of whether there is one (or more) leader(s) or if it is an equal collaboration. I'm lucky enough to be in one band where I'm semi in-charge, and one where I just lay back and play the guitar and let others do most of the decision-making. I often wonder how Fruvous did it-- I'm sure there were power-plays either spoken or unspoken often through their history and yet I'm sure they had an incredible bond.

oh yes.. I still lurk.. I'm still around
If you are at all in to ska music, you should check out the mp3s at http://skannotto.kicks-ass.org I'm not playing bass for any of the stuff in the Burning Inferno of Fire folder, thats all our studio album. Anything in practice thats me. Warning though, its all recorded on a computer microphone. Anyone that wants to jam in Rochester drop me a line. I'll play almost anything.

My friends and I had a punk band named Redrum. I played bass for a while and sang. It was much fun! Kinda miss those days....

Over a decade ago, I spent a couple years on vox and guitar for a power trio called "House of Gotham". Think RHCP/Primus, only cheesier. Our megahits included "Janitor Bob", "Balls of Eternity" and "I Chew the Cud (of a Newly Born Calf)." It was fun.

As a freshman in high school, my friends and I were planning to have a band called either "Triangular Peace" or "The Visigoths." Our only song was called "Pheamo," and it was about lava lites.
my fake high school band was called evil amoebas. we played kazoo and tupperware. some of our songs were "culler lake," "santa loves to read little notes of joy," and "stirring gravy makes your troubles go away." um. yes.
cutey with fries on top and i had a fake folk duo called mermaids in the basement, a fake country band called the fairweather frogs, a fake riot grrrl band called the bloated panthers, and a fake george harrison tribute band called unfortunate ears.
but, we were supposed to be *real.* I mean, for some reason, we totally thought "Pheamo" would make the top 40.

I once was the frontwoman for a goth band... only I never got to meet the rest of the band, only the guitarist, who was a friend I met at orienation. Funny how that never went anywhere. Harrumph. Also? I'd piss off everyone else in the dorm by singing in our rehersals. Hah! :D
