I just took hot chocolate mix and put it in a small amount of water to make a paste and ate it with a spoon. It is delicious but I don't think I ever had it in front of another person. What are your culinary guilty pleasures. Knowing this crowd I'm sure there will be plenty of htem and I'm sure that people will share some of them. Anyone else love that hot chocolate paste?
sounds good, it would be better iff you mixed it with milk instead of water, or you could even use cream.
i agree that milk would be better. but i'd much rather just have hot chocolate.
i have too many food issues to have guilty culinary pleasures.

I have made it with milk but if you don't heat hte milk first it doesn't mix well.
But this works out even better. Someone might suspect that a fiance was a beard but who would ever guess that a paramour was?
See, my food guilty pleasures are all way less work than the hot chocolate paste thing, Gordon.
Mostly, they revolve around delivered pizza or variously flavored tortilla chips.

I'd eat one in front of you, though.
Also: Canned chocolate frosting or hot fudge sauce, by the spoonful. Pretzels dipped in peanut butter. Raisins dipped in peanut butter. Apple slices spread with peanut butter. (sensing a theme here, are we?) Chocolate chip cookies dipped in milk until smooshy. Graham crackers will do in a pinch. Big slabs of baking chocolate from Whole Foods. Tortilla chips. Here's a dip recipe that will scare you: take 1 pound of velveeta (spicy "Mexican" kind ok) and 1 can of Hormel chili. Nuke until bubbly, stirring every minute or so. Dive in with the chips, or anything else you can think of dipping in it. See why I'm doing Atkins? :D And DAMMIT. Now I'm hungry. 
Mmmmmmapplesandpeanutbutter. :) Love that sooo much. And it always reminds me of Remington Steele because as kids my sister and I would make apples and peanut butter and apples with cheese for ourselves and mom so we could all have our "Remington Steele Snacks" and watch mom drool over Pierce Brosnan. :) Velveeta is one of my guilty pleasures. Just because so many people make me feel ashamed of liking it. :)� But I like it cold, cut in a slice and chewed on. I'm not fond of it melted. I love french fries dipped in chocolate shakes. I used to put hot chocolate mix in milk and it wouldn't mix, it just sat up top but it tasted great to skim it off the top and eat it...grainy and a little milky and chocolatey and sugary. Yum! Then I'd add another packet. Eventually the milk got chocolatey enough to drink but it took a long time. :) (I hate plain milk.) Tried slicing green olives and using it as a burger topping recently. Really tasty! My favorite beverage with chocolate chip cookies is lemonade. Dunno why. It works well though. 
See, I like velveeta melted (like, in mac and cheese, or whatever) or spread on crackers... But eating it straight up offends my sensibilities.
At places where you make your own Sundae when I'm done with the ice cream I fill the bowl with whipped cream then add the Hot Fudge. I'll do straight hot fudge too. Yum.
I do the pretzels in peanut butter all the time. I even do that in public at my bridge club. I also dip tortilla chips in pb.

ok, this is gross. my old roomate and i used to put potato chips on white bread with Hellman's Mayo. It was so good. nowadays, it makes my stomach turn to think about it, but we were addicted. Nutella is a serious guilty pleasure, i honestly think i could eat it like a pint of ice cream. and lick the jar. if the jar were big enough. you know. peanut butter too - extra crunchy Jif. i also used to steal the baker's chocolate out of my mom's cupboard. and the bags of coconut you use for cooking. mm. my favorite "omg it's so bad for you" desert is this: 6 blocks of baker's chocolate make the brownie mix and spread it on the bottom of a round pie pan - all the way up the sides. you're making a crust here. bake to directions, but watch it, because you're spreading it thin on the pan - it may burn. melt the butter. whip it with the sugar. Add vanilla. After the pie crust has cooled, add the mixture to the center. smooth it down. cover and fridgerate overnight. you can put candybar shavings on top if you like. rowr.

ooo yeah.� potato chip sandwiches.� haven't had one of those in ... decades. how about yer basic all-American version of dipping crusty Italian bread in seasoned extra-virgin olive oil?� Which is to say, drizzle regular old Wesson on regular old white bread, the more Wonder-like the better.� sprinkle with salt.� Fold and enjoy.� i haven't had one of those in decades either.� :D
umm, well i do eat Nutella like a pint of ice cream, grab a spoon, straight out the jar. a spoonful or two every night after work, a jar a week. i don't share my Nutella! never felt guilty about it until Sheryl mentioned it...
other than that, sliced apples, butter, cream cheese, brown sugar, and a dash of cinnamon on white bread for a sandwich. yummy!

As for the apple sandwich, why that's almost the same as tea sandwiches I've had at a very foo-foo tea shop. My mom even asked for the recipe so she could use it for parties. Mix cream cheese, chopped walnuts, diced apples, cinnamon, and honey. Spread on thin-sliced zucchini bread, and top with another thin slice of zucchini bread. Cut into quarters (or smaller). Mmmmm.

I love that. You have to come to peanut butter and company with me and order the elvis with bacon. that also has banana and honey in it.
and then you need to take her out for iced hot chocolate.

My dad makes it four ways: plain, with onion, with mushrooms, and woth mushrooms and onion. I like Mushroom & onion with salt & white pepper.
I know some people put jam on theirs... Do you like your fried matzah savory or sweet?

I think all spellings of Chanukah are right though I do prefer the ones with the initial "CH"

Cottage cheese with ketchup and onions!--Pickles wrapped in sourdough bread with brie cheese.... *is now hungry* dammit...
cottage cheese and french dressing.� oh yes oh yes oh yes.� honey mustard dressing goes well with it too. then again, i'm rather a fan of plain cottage cheese, come to think of it ... :D �-= george =-
Pizza crust dipped in ranch dressing is good... except when the dressing turns out to have bacon in it. :P

Not a fan of ranch dressing... but I love pizza crust dipped in bleu cheese dressing!!
I started doing it when I'd order a pizza and wings.. and we'd have leftover bleu cheese... and stale pizza crusts... and I was hungry. Now I actually keep bleu cheese around the house for that express purpose.
mmmmyep. Though my combo is usually mcdonalds fries and chocolate shake. Just had it Sunday, in fact.

When I raid my cupboards, I usally end up with a cut full of sweetened coconut, some sun dried tomatoes (so gross, but so fun to eat!), cheese, green onions and sliced turkey.� Mmmm.... Theres this place at the mall that sells really good french fries.� I buy the fries and some hot chocolate, and dip the fries in the hot chocolate.� And sometimes I'll eat the whole strawberry.� Stem and all.� 
why that's my mommy's fudge recipe!
so it's mine too! i think it originally was printed on the can of Eagle brand condensed milk. and it's so easy to make (and remember) that now it's tattooed on the collective unconscious of all not-too-sweet fudge lovers. (mom and I each add a teaspoon of vanilla to the above mix.)

Bagel with cream cheese and salt and vinegar potato chips. Gives it a nice crunch.
Also, the powdered cheese from kraft mac&cheese. I always lick the packet. Sometimes when making the stuff I actually save a little bit of the powder to eat plain. Whoo boy, if you let me near cheddar cheese... I will put cheddar cheese on just about anything as an excuse to eat it. Doing this I discovered that I really like it on grahm crackers and chocolate chip cookies. I also like brie on pretzels.
oooooh ... baked brie.
spread the brie with fig jam. top with slivered almonds. bake until the jam is melted, the brie is oozing butter, and the almonds are toasted. *swooooon*
President's Choice used to make the most wonderful Blue Cheese French salad dressing.
It was really good. And it was the only salad dressing Andrew would eat for years and years. Apparently it was only distributed in the Ottawa area though. We looked high and low for it elsewhere, and couldn't find it. Not in Toronto. Not in Quebec City. Not in Nova Scotia. And certainly not in the US. So after we moved away from Ottawa, whenever we returned to visit we'd come home with a half-dozen bottles. And then they stopped making it altogether. Damn.
DUDE! Blue on pretzel is SOSOSO happy!
But blue cheese is another one I'll eat with just about anything... or plain. I can't get enough of good blue cheese.

vinegar, I love vinegar, anyone who has seen me eat fries or a salad or seen my cupboard knows this fact.
BUT. I used to drink vinegar, white vinegar with a little salt, when I was young, doctor made me stop :( I still crave vinegar and I'm not above taking a swig now and again. and chances are if no one's around I'll drink the leftover salad dressing. Please do note that in this case salad dressing is simply oil, vinegar and a few spices, heavy on the vinegar. but yah. mm. pretzels dipped into nutella. yum. salt and vinegar chips, I can easily sit down with one of those giant party-sized bags and devour it in a sitting.
Well I'm not quite as crazy about vinegar as Renita, but it is my favourite thing for fries (except maybe for gravy and cheese curds -poutine is a new addiction). I also love to dip bread in olive oil and balsamic vinegar, works well for raw veggies too. I remember potato chip sandwiches from my youth, I think that was a serving suggestion on the Miracle Whip bottle at one point.
I'm a vinegar nut as well. So is my mom.
Oh, here's a real guilty pleasure that I don't do in front of ther people... I drink garlic pickle brine. Our of the jar or from a glass.

Since Thanksgiving is coming up, I have an admission: I love candied Sweet Potato casserole, the kind with the marshmellows on top. It seems so wrong to take a healthy vegetable and cook it with marshmellows of all things, but I can't help it. I make the sauce with butter, cinnamon, apple cider, brown sugar and sometimes a shot of brandy.
Heh... we Jews call that tzimmes. It always seemed weird to me that goyim make something that is basically tzimmes and then put marshmallows on top... it just seems so... unnecessary.
On the way to FRFF with my two friends from school this past summer, we stopped at a Boston Market. Nikki wanted the sweet potato casserole thing and she was staring at it trying to find the label so she would know what to ask for. cause she knew the person behind the counter would look at her funny if she asked for Tzimmes. :)
I thought tzimmes had all sorts of other stuff in it? I found a recipe for it in the newspaper once and made it.� As I recall it also had carrots and prunes in it and was splashed with apple juice.� Yummmmm.� But for regular sweet potato casserole, I only use sweets, butter, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg and brown sugar.� Or sometimes I'll skip the brown sugar and use orange juice or apple juice instead.�
Speaking of sweet potatoes...am I the only one who things that plantains taste like a banana and a sweet potato's secret love child? It was an unpleasant sensation because I like bananas but hate sweet potatoes. :)
Yeah, Tzimmes is a widely varied dish... literally it means a mess, or a commotion. I just always associate the two dishes in my mind.

I used to put ketchup on pizza all the time. I'd also use it as a chip dip. I stopped that after a few of my friends started dry-heaving every time we ordered pizza.

At football games (I was a bandie) during halftime, we would get free snacks for our band-age.� I would always get a soft pretzel, and maybe a cupcake.� My friends always thought it was disgusting that I put ketchup on my soft pretzel...� but I thought it was bloody delicious!� Thoughts?
Seeing as how I was raised my a Philadelphian, I must concur that soft pretzel = mustard.

Wawa has a new soft pretzel that rocks though. It's filled with melted pepper jack cheese. omg. don't need mustard on that.
better than the white paste my friend's classmate used in the first grade.

�I thought it was just a cliche, but you really do want to eat weird stuff when you're pregnant.� At least I do. My snack tonight:� graham crackers and Spanish olives About� a month or so ago I was eating spaghetti with marinara sauce and thought "this needs American cheese"�� Which is nothing short of sacrilege for someone of Italian heritage. Then there was the day where all I wanted was french fries dipped in guacamole. Take my advice: do not try this combo.� Oh and I too love fries dipped in chocolate shakes. That's not a pregnancy thing, I've enjoyed that for years.� 
I used to love going to Wendy's when I was little for Frosties and fries. Mmmmmm. The warm/cold, salt/sweet thing...sooo good.
i never ate artichoke hearts until i was pregnant. i was quite puzzled by that craving.� i mean, how do you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you need to eat something you've never tasted?� i'm glad i discovered them though.
mmmmartichoke hearts.� And to me when I crave them is a totally different time than when I crave fresh artichokes. Fresh artichokes are a nice side dish, heart and all. But when it comes to canned artichoke hearts...I put them in everything. I find any excuse to throw them in a meal. Pizza, pasta, yum yum yum.� Costco sells an awesome artichoke lemon pesto that is GREAT on bread and broiled in the oven. I don't really like marinated artichoke hearts though. You know with the oil and italian spices? Not my thing.
But see part of what I love so much about the canned ones is the lemony goodness. I'm all about tart and/or briny additions to my meals.
