*swoon!* he's hilarious and hot and he can cook. come on, girls? what more do we need in a man? ok, well, i can think of one more thing--can he sing? :)
Drea Back · 22 years, 8 months ago
Apparently he's in a band.. not sure whether he sings, but it's possible ;)
Drea · 22 years, 8 months ago
It was a tossup for me between Emeril, Jamie (who won.. I have a weakness for Brits ;>) and other, since Food Network Canada has all these chefs plus Michael Smith (Inn Chef, Chef at Large - on which he gets to do cool stuff like cooking for (and eating with) the Raptors), Martin Yan and others ;)

Just wanted to point out that my vote for the last option is not meant as an insult to the Food Network, its employees, or its viewers. I have nothing against food. I actually like food quite a lot. I even like watching people cook food (especially at hibachi places.....). If I were the TV-watching, channel-surfing type, I'd probably stop on the Food Network quite frequently. But, since I'm not (I'd rather just spend all day in front of the computer learning to be a geek...having to split my time between too many screens gets overwhelming ;)), I don't really have adequate data to pick a favorite chef/TV show/news anchor/whatever.

I like Ming Tsai of East Meets West! :)
danced with Lazlo · 22 years, 8 months ago
You make me choose between Alton Brown, Jamie Oliver, Iron Chef Morimoto and Other (Ming Tsai)? Oh you evil evil man!

And what about... er... whatshisname? The guy who does A Chef's Tour? The stuck up New York/French guy who hates tripe but likes stinky malaysian fruit? I love him... :)

Jaime Oliver deserves extra props though, 'cause he's from England where most of the people he encounters have never eaten anything that didn't come from a tin.

Of course everything Jamie Oliver is gonna be good. Add a quart of cream and a pound of butter to anything, and it'll taste good!

Josh Woodward Back · 22 years, 8 months ago
oh, he cooks? i thought he just stood in front of the camera looking dreamy all day.
Talcott · 22 years, 8 months ago
Gee, I'm the first Iron Chef vote. What's wrong with you people? :D

Although, if I could vote my true choice, it wouldn't be any of the chefs themselves. I doubt anyone out there can name me a cooler host than Kaga!
I mean, when was the last time you saw Jeff Smith dramaticaly bite into a pepper and smirk? Not to mention, Julia Child would never wear robes like those!

"Quisan!"

"Yes, Ohta!"

"It appears that the challenger is preparing a dish with basil, endive, parmesean, *and* shrimp!"

"That certainly sounds interesting! I wonder how he plans to work the theme ingredient into this one!"

"I asked Mr. Saucep'n that, and he said 'Don't worry, there'll be plenty of hamster in this dish!' Back to you!"

*grin* oh, another Iron Chef vote here, darling. But really, it's all of them wrapped up into one, even if Morimoto really -is- cooler than the rest. ;)
Eri Back · 22 years, 8 months ago
\/\/00t! there's a poll for you, favorite trading spaces designer!!! Jaci, you're the best. *grin* Trading Spaces is my favorite show. :)
goovie is married! · 22 years, 8 months ago
You mean there are TV shows outside of Buffy and Noggin? Weird.
It's a girl! · 22 years, 8 months ago
Ok, so she's actually not on Food Network, but on Style, but Nigella Lawson rules! I want to be her when I grow up!
Drea Back · 22 years, 8 months ago
Nigella from "Nigella Bites"? We get her on Food Network Canada, nyah nyah nyah nyah nyah ;) The night she's on she follows Jamie Oliver :)
renita · 22 years, 8 months ago
okay, so I don't know if they ever played his show on the Food Network. but Jeff
Smith was great, and so what if he's retired...

There's also an Italian guy who was on just after him... but I can't remember his
name.. but he loved food. it was fun watching him because he was having so much
fun and loving what he was doing.
goovie is married! Back · 22 years, 8 months ago
Oh yeah! The Frugal Gourmet ruled, if only because Elmo made occasional guest appearances. :)

On Food Network, my current favorite is Rachel Ray, hostess of "30 Minute Meals."

On PBS, I like MaryAnn Esposito of "Ciao Italia" and *adore* Lidia Bastianich of "Lidia's Italian Table" or some-such.
Josh Woodward Back · 22 years, 8 months ago
I'll second that! 30 Minute Meals is really underrated, but there's a ton of good stuff on that show. Lidia is also great. I'm suprised at the lack of votes for Mario Batali as well, I love the authentic strange Italian food he comes up with. It's not always the most practical thing for Joe Blow from Goose Praire, KS to cook, but he's always interesting to listen to. And I'm also suprised that Emeril got any votes at all. Shame. :-)
Brian Dinsky · 22 years, 8 months ago
Hell, as long as it's cooked.....
Doktor Pepski, kommie · 22 years, 8 months ago
That is got to be the most addictive show on the planet! Morimoto Is by far the man, making the insane dishes and destroying those that would try and survive his wake!
ShrinkMan · 22 years, 8 months ago
How could you *NOT* include David Rosengarten in such a poll... "Taste" was the foundation of the food network TV's programming and a foodie/amateur chef's porn-like addiction (As The French Laundry Cookbook is every professional Chef's "flashlight-under-the-sheets stroke book) (Pardon my allusions)!!!

BassAce · 22 years, 8 months ago
What about Bob Blumer, the surreal gourmet?? If I could vote tie, it would go to Alton Brown, Jamie Oliver, and Bob Blumer, but no matter how long I tried, I couldn't get that dot into more than just one spot, I think I've ruined my mouse.....
Will work for anime · 22 years, 8 months ago
what a tough choice..

Good Eats is hilarious. Iron Chef is just cool. so is Mario eats Italy. (Emeril is starting to grate on my nerves a bit tho - sorry, but must they have him on *every* other show?)

my vote goes to Jamie Oliver...very cute, even funnier, and his recipies are easy to follow. "C'mon mate! This food is really pukka!"
