How Holey are you?

   Discussion: How Holey are you?
Annika · 22 years ago

The topic just came up on the power wall about piercings. I defended mine by saying "On me they don't look punk" although with spikes.. they do.

So here's the question, where are you pierced? Why did you choose to get pierced? Anything else you'd like to add?

Annika Back · 22 years ago

I have my ears pierced once
I have my left eyebrow pierced once, with a ring, my right nostril pierced once, with a nose screw containing a pretty little jewel. Not much of a nose ring girl..
I used to have my tounge pierced, but I took it out.

My mom got my ears pierced when I was 12
I got a tounge piercing because I was asked to. I'll spare you the details.
My eyebrow piercing my sister bought me for x-mas in '99, and the nose piercing my mom bought me for my b-day.

I think I'm done with the piercings, if I were to get anymore, they would be ear piercings.

I just have my ears pierced. Once. And I didn't choose it. My mom had them done on me when I was 2. I spent my childhood with her making me wear earrings and my having violent allergic reactions to them. I'd itch and tear apart my ears until they were bloody and scabby.

These days they've calmed down. I hate gold so I didn't use that option even though that might have been OK. I discovered recently that I can take sterling silver as well, though, so I've been buying a few pairs.

I've always wanted my nose or eyebrow pierced but right now I'm in such a corporate environment that I don't want to deal with the hassle they would bring. :)

ack! @ your ear thing.

I don't work anywhere where piercing affect work. Weird, but most old old people think they are really neat.

Sarah Back · 22 years ago
Have you tried white gold? I don't like yellow gold and white gold works well. I also have sensitive ears and I have to wear gold or up to a certain point sterling silver.
Work environment can be a pain with piercings. I usually wear hoops in my first 4 holes and a CZ stud in the 5th. I know if I get any of the jobs I've applied for after graduation I'll have to either wear tiny hoops or studs in all but one. I'm also waiting until I get a job and get settled for about a month befre getting my cartilage pierced because I'd be getting a ring in that at least until it heals.

Annika Back · 22 years ago
hee hee, I did to. althought it took me a moment to understand what you meant by that.
J. Andrew World Back · 22 years ago
I honestly thought this was a thread about religian and I was about to post about ear rings!
Sarah Back · 22 years ago
I thought the same thing too.
zil Back · 22 years ago
okay... I had 5 in my ears. and just infront of your ear hole there is that wee bit of cartalage that sticks out. I pierced that too. I had my right eyebrow pierced in two places. and my right nostrial.... and then disaster struck! when my body decided to kill my pancreas and make me diabetic! with my immune system in a raped and pillaged state horresndous infections srung up in my piercings within a couple days and I had to go to the ER and have some my jewelry cut out of me. the end. stupid immune system.

I have my ears pierced 5 times and I had the cartilage in the upper ear pierced but it didn't heal right and I had to take it out. I want to get it done again but a bit lower this time. No other piercings though.

zil Back · 22 years ago

;-)
J. Andrew World Back · 22 years ago
No it isn't.  I mean it's not like you are talking about a sexual fantisy, then that would be TMI!
zil Back · 22 years ago
*husky chuckle* ditto girlfriend!
Annika Back · 22 years ago
Hobity? What?? Am I missing something?
Melinda J. Beasi Back · 22 years ago
yes. :)
Annika Back · 22 years ago
Okay.. Next question, what did I miss??
Melinda J. Beasi Back · 22 years ago
Jaci's icon depicts Elijah Wood and Dominic Monaghan. They play hobbits in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy, based on the books by J.R.R. Tolkien.

How's that? :)
Melinda J. Beasi Back · 22 years ago
Lij!

(just felt he needed to be included. hee.)

Oh, and topic? I have your standard 1 piercing in each ear. I got it done when I was 15. I haven't worn earrings regularly since I was 16. Heh. It was the 80's... all the jewelry was hideous. Can you blame me? It came in handy from time to time when I was an actress, because it meant I didn't have to wear clip-ons for roles that called for earrings.
Sarah Back · 22 years ago
I remember the mid 80's with the big hoop earrings. I was like 4 and wanted my ears pierced so I could wear them. Being 4 I did the next best thing: hooped jelly bracelets over my hears and pretended they were earrings. Clip-ons hurt. I wore them on halloween once when I was a gypsy and had gold cip on hoops. I think I was about 10.
Annika Back · 22 years ago

I was a little kid in the 80's and my mom wouldn't let me get my ears pierced, so I did the same thing and had jelly braclets around my ears. We should start a trend with that! everyone should go out and buy jelly bracelets, if they still sell them, and wear them around our ears.

Speaking of kid stuff, you know those castle blocks? My sister and I used to take the turret roof blocks and put them inside our socks, and than walk around outside because we thought we looked like teenagers with high heels.

i have one piercing in each lobe which i got done when i was about 13 or 14 because i wanted to wear earrings like scully. oh dear. :D

i want to have some more done in my ears but it seems that around here people a) won't pierce cartilage or b) do it with a gun when it's meant to be done with a needle, or so i've been told. i once read this awful story in a newspaper somewhere about this girl who got the top of her ear pierced with a gun and the cartilage, like, DIED and her ear shrivelled up and eek, it was just too terrifying and put me right off the idea. ew, ew, ew. :P

yeah. so. um, might go get some more done at a good reputable place in london next year when i have more money. sweet.

nate... Back · 22 years ago
I dunno... most people I knew just pierced it themselves, or had friends do it.
Sarah Back · 22 years ago
I had my cartilage done with a gun. The problem with that is the scar tissue and cartilage is just pushed aside. Then the scar tissue can grow around the piercing like a bump. That happened to me and I let mine close up. I do want to get it done but I'd have it done at a piercing studio. More expensive but I'd rather have it done right.

Just wondering, anyone in here have theirs done at a studio? Getting mine done at 3/4 the way up my ear. How badly did it hurt? I've called a few places to get prices and information and they said it's more like a slight momentary burning and it takes less than a second to do. I'm just a bit of a wuss with pain. I have a very high tollerance but I'm a wuss.

zil Back · 22 years ago
I've had all of mine donw at a tatoo parlor.. I dunno if thats anything like a "studio" but I dunno how good of a judge I would be on the pain factor... *clears throat*... I kind of enjoyed the feeling of the piering process. I went to the same place to get all of mine done... a little place called Captin Morgans... ahhh yeah. they have a picture of me on the wall with the words "bloodless wonder" under it... some poeple i guess fidget when they have facials done and then there is more blood. they said it was creepy because I was actually smiling... okay maybe that was a bit to much to say... *shrug* ... its no secret that I'm odd.
