Do you like your job?

For the first time in a long time I don't hate my job. It's really hectic and stressful lately but not in the same way as past positions. Others I was overwhelmed and out of my league and dreading work every day so much that I wanted to die, crying at work, etc. I'd get in that cycle where I didn't know how to do something so I put it off and that just made everything worse and worse. In this job...I'm good. I'm capable. I have a ton to do and a short time to do it in but I still feel at every stage that I'm capable of it. I know I can do these things and I'm good enough and I'm valuable and that is worlds beyond what I had in my old job. So no...I don't love it because it's not easy and it can be a drudge. But it's not filled with misery for once.

i like that i have a job.
i like that it's more or less in my field. but i hate the insane commute. and even more, i hate working someplace so corporate and dilbertified, and so full of workaholics. and i really don't care about the big picture, or what happens to the firm, or stupid work-related gossip and intrigue, or anything like that. i just care that the stuff our group produces is editorially correct i work exactly 40 hours a week, unless it's absolutely necessary (i have no problem staying late if there's a very, very good reason, but most people here work 10-hour days just because they don't believe in having lives). then i go home and play music and write and have fun with my boy and do all the other things that make me happy. Yeah. The most part applies to my BSC as well. And the really bad news about Dilbert is that it's all true. Edit: correct linky is: http://www.andrewkerr.com/newsite/content-lyrics.html#moreforme(fhdc seems to screw it up)
A Scott Adams line. This is a paraphrase. The world is Dilbert is filled with talking dinosaurs and people turning to puddles of ooze yet every day people come up to me and say "that just like where I work."

My job struggles are a running theme. I'm glad I make money. I'm thankful that I can support my wife. I'm glad to stay busy. But I HATE. MY. JOB. I think my biggest problem with this job is that anyone could do it. I mean, monkeys writing Hamlet, right? At the same time, it makes it easier for me to get time off. But I don't feel like I'm doing anything worthwhile. I don't care in the LEAST about the company itself, how it succeeds or fails, or most of the people here, because honestly, some people here LIKE this job, and that's all well and good -- people are designed to do different things -- but it makes me take them far less seriously when they live to do data entry. Grrrr. I hate this job. Someone find me a better job!!

If I wasn't such a good waitress, waitress, waitress
--Jane Siberry If you had asked me this exact question last summer, it would have been a resounding "i can't sand it." i was doing office work and did not like it at all. but for some reason, as a summer job, waitressing is my favorite. it's fun, i get to be outside, and i get tips.

I love my cult... er... job.
I work for a wonderful company which does nothing bad to anyone that I've seen. We employees are treated amazingly well. I love my coworkers. They are my best friends and I look forward to going to work to see them. I'm challenged at work in ways that I never have been before and that is extraordinarily rewarding. I could go on forever, but I think you're all pretty sick of hearing me rant about The Container Store. You must first create an account to post.
