Discussion: Evil Schemes To End the Hiatus
Gordondon son of Ethelred · 17 years, 8 months ago
Who has an evil scheme to the Moxy Fruvous hiatus? I gave some general ideas in the poll but they need to be fleshed out.
J. Andrew World Back · 17 years, 8 months ago
My evil plan involves Sanjaya, a pirates plank, a tub full of butterscotch pudding and a leprosy scare.

Perhaps it's best you don't ask.

On the other hand, my plan leaves us with no more Sanjaya so it's a win/win.
Cody Back · 17 years, 8 months ago
...Why do I get the feeling that this plan has more to do with the death of Sanjaya? Not that I'm against that. But mean, why not take Clay down at the same time?
Agent Scully Back · 17 years, 8 months ago
I spoke with Mike's wife Terri in January and they are not going to get back together. Although Jacqueline has been trying to convince him to do at least once show with the band.
Snow In Summer Back · 17 years, 8 months ago

I think of it this way.  It would be nice for them to do a one-off as Fruvous again, but they would have to a) wait 'til I have the cash to travel ;-) and 2) do it because they really want to.

On the other hand, I don't know if I would really want to see them together again.  It was a specific moment in time for me & I'm not really the same wide-eyed 20 year old as I was when I started.  *shrugs* Does that make sense to anyone else?

Bender Back · 17 years, 8 months ago
Whoa.  Since when are we not diametrically opposed?  This must be a sign and/or portent.  I think I need to consult an almanac.

(Translation, since Mercury is in retrograde: Yes, you do make sense and I feel exactly the same way.)
Phoenix Back · 17 years, 8 months ago
An almanac? Watch out that you don't end up in Gitmo... ;)
Snow In Summer Back · 17 years, 8 months ago

Don't worry. It probably won't happen again soon. ;-)

Those were my true feelings about a "reunion."  However, Gordon was strictly tongue in cheek about the forum topic.  I think we should kidnap the four lads and force them to do another house party.  Or.. we could clone the lads and in a few months or years (with the correct mad scientist technology) we can have all the concerts we want.

J. Andrew World Back · 17 years, 8 months ago
Or put together a younger version featuring Sanjaya and three canadians.
Bender · 17 years, 8 months ago
I don't think ending the hiatus is a good idea.

And it's not really a hiatus and everyone knows that.

The band will never be the band they used to be. If they really wanted to get back together, they would. Maybe they will someday. Sure, it would be a band with the same members, but they could never truly be Moxy Fruvous again. Those days are over.

Dude... you're totally harshing my buzz!
nate... Back · 17 years, 8 months ago
quite true, quite true.
VaiVedrai · 17 years, 8 months ago
Leah may be on to something...unless the Frulads get back together of their own accord, it just won't have that...that sense of moxie that Moxy Fruvous had.

But I still wish they would end the hiatus soon.
nate... Back · 17 years, 8 months ago
Well, see, as leah said... it's not a hiatus... and I think (hope?) we all know that at this point.

Gordondon son of Ethelred · 17 years, 8 months ago
OK I'm going to try the same thing that Lorne Michaels did when he tried to get the Beatles to get back together on Saturday Night Live. This is a paraphrase of his offer.

This is my offer to pay to the members of Moxy Fruvous $3,500 to perform together in New York. They can divide the money any way they like; they can give Jian a little less if they want to.

Nice idea...unfortunatly i didn't work the first time round seeing as only George Harrison showed up.  I see Dave being the one to take the bait...don't know why...
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 17 years, 8 months ago
Well if you are mapping Fruvous onto the beatles Dave would be George. Mike would be John. It breaks down after that as no Frulad is Ringo. I guess If I had to map it I'd make it Murray is Paul and Jian Ringo.
Bender Back · 17 years, 8 months ago
No, man.  Jian's Paul.  He was the "cute one" and then went on to have a travesty of a solo career.
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 17 years, 8 months ago
Paul McCartney did not have a travesty of a solo career! Band on the Run is a classic album.
Will work for anime Back · 17 years, 8 months ago
well...he was definalty the most prolific of the 4 after they split...Paul i mean, not Jian (*ehm* still waiting for the FULL solo album with Follow the Road on it.....*grrr*) Some of his stuff was good, some not so much. Being a recent fan of his...pretty much ever since I married a Paul McCartney obsessed guy...I'm more familiar with his last 3 albums than any thing else. I really liked Chaos and Creation in the Backyard. Driving Rain and the new one Memory Almost Full I can take em or leave em, esp this new one O_o
Mamalissa! Back · 17 years, 8 months ago
Wait... Paul McCartney was in a band before Wings?
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 17 years, 8 months ago
I think it was called Tall New Buildings.
John J. Ryan Back · 17 years, 8 months ago
"Once I Was The King Of Spain"...  there, that's $1,666 right there.  And yes, that's USD, not CDN.
Mamalissa! Back · 17 years, 8 months ago
HEY!  NOT THE BEATLES!!!
Yvonne Back · 17 years, 8 months ago
I'll throw in a twonie and a bag of kettle corn (if it hasn't already been eaten).
iPauley Back · 17 years, 8 months ago
I thought it was spelled "toonie."

The kettle korn is still here...  there's a small hole in the bag, though.

Who the hell is this Jian people keep referring to?

Is he related to Jean?
Snow In Summer Back · 17 years, 8 months ago
he's Jean's evil twin.

You mean to tell me that there's two ugly suckas running around with that face??!?!

bad weathered friend.

It's his own worst enemy.

You should be posting in Hebrew now. Bad rabbinical student in Israel!
danced with Lazlo Back · 17 years, 8 months ago
Gah! For the last time I AM NOT A RABBINICAL STUDENT YET!
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 17 years, 8 months ago
A future rabbinical student should show more patience ... and have a beard.
VaiVedrai · 17 years, 8 months ago

So...for all intents and purposes, Moxy Fruvous is dead, and has been since 2001. Rest in peace, you bastards.

Michael Scialdone · 17 years, 8 months ago
I have never heard rumors as to why its taken so long to end the hiatus. Band tensions? I know 3/4 of them reunited last year sometime for a radio show during the CBC lockout, and Dave and Murray are both in Great Atomic Power (which are playing this Friday somewhere north of Toronto). So the key to knowing if the hiatus would end is knowing what caused it, and what links remain between the band....
danced with Lazlo Back · 17 years, 8 months ago
Pretty sure they're all good friends. It's not as though they don't like each other anymore or anything silly like that. I think they were just tired of touring like mad as Moxy Früvous and were looking for a change.

I've said it before and I will reiterate... while I would love to see Moxy Früvous again, no matter whether or not it was like the old days, I think the most important thing is that each of the lads has a satisfying career that makes them happy. As long as there is that (and as long as I still get to see or speak to them each on occasion) I'm not holding my breath.
John J. Ryan Back · 17 years, 8 months ago

We also have our memories of the group and all the wonderful shows they did thanks to tape trading.  There are always new bands to discover, and the band really left on their own terms.

There also isn't a big $$$ incentive for them to get back together.  When do the Stones and McCartney keep playing?  What brought Genesis, The Eagles, Simon & Garfunkel, even The Police back together?  Let's face it, Fruvous won't play a show again for a handful of die-hards.  There's no money in that.  They need to make a living too and be happy to do it.

Gordondon son of Ethelred · 17 years, 8 months ago
Anyone have a scheme to get DVN back together? They at least still do some corporate gigs and they had an impromptu reunion at a Paul and Storm show.
Mamalissa! Back · 17 years, 8 months ago
um... give 'em a lot of money?
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 17 years, 8 months ago
That might work. They like money. It might work on Fruvous too. When I win the Megamillions I'll try it on both of them.
Phoenix · 17 years, 8 months ago
I think we should scheme to get the Razzy Dazzy Spasm Band back together. Seriously ;)
