It pretty much always can, and will, get worse.
George E. Nowik Back · 19 years, 2 months ago

i dunno about that. considering some of the things that happened in 2005, i'm being extra mindful of making certain that 2006 is just plain better.

i think i'm partially influenced by the fact that i managed to hit rock bottom in school again and nearly fail a couple of classes, my dear, dear friend ben who contracted Staphylococcus Aureus in mexico and passed away without warning as a result, and so many other things that ... just sucked.

i may not have any control over the external things, but those external things have strangely motivated me. for lack of a better description. to make certain that that which i have control over is ... different than the previous year.

What about, ask me on December 31, 2006?

It could be better, it could be worse, I'll wait and see.
nate... · 19 years, 2 months ago
see.. I was gonna say, "how on earth could it possibly be any BETTER than 2005?"

But then I remembered our president. :P

you also forgot Hurricane Katrina,The earthquake in Pakistan, and the genocide in Darfur, and...

nate... Back · 19 years, 2 months ago
well, yes... but I was referring to my personal life.

Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 19 years, 2 months ago
I didn't know that Bush was part of your personal life. Give us the juicy details!
Mollie · 19 years, 2 months ago
Starting the year with some huge health concerns...so it's anybody's guess. Will definitely have some struggles.
Misch Back · 19 years, 2 months ago
Yes, of course we'll give you some snuggles.
Mollie Back · 19 years, 2 months ago
snuggles for struggles. :) :) Thanks so much.
Misch Back · 19 years, 2 months ago
Oh, I misread that the first time. But you can still have the snuggles. ;-)
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 19 years, 2 months ago
snuggles for struggles is a great name for a band.

You can have some snuggles from me for your struggles too.

oh nose. I'm sorry to hear about your being sick. immune supressing? like an auto imune illness? anyway, illness is a private thing to a lot of people [obviously I'M not one of thoes people. hee] so I wont pry, but if you want someone to talk to about immune illnesses I knw a bit about them myself.

I have "an unspecified auto immune illness/disease" wouldn't it be sad that my fame might come from the disovery of Zils disease?

"if we didn't laugh we'd cry and if we didn't keep on we'd lay down and die"

"there is no try..."

anyways, just do what you can. :-)

I have a recurrent brain cancer. Am taking immunosuppression to deal with some swelling. Will have surgery within a week or two. I'm not so private about it, really, just am a bit self-conscious bringing it up here.
Hopefully the surgery will be soon and I can get on with things!

I'm not really good I being uplifting, sorry.

when I looked back at my post I thought it sounded a bit... like "at the end of your rope" ramblings.
renita · 19 years, 2 months ago
2005 wasn't terribly bad for me, but it wasn't especially great either.

I can remember both better and worse years.

I have high hopes for 2006.

Hee you've just earwormed me with Girlyman...

We are breathing, we are seething
We are hardly underway
We have high hopes like the old popes
Even St. Peter's bones decay

But I have high hopes, too ;)

well...if my car doesn't blow up, if my husband doesn't get laid off, and if i can finally get out of my hell-hole job then, yes, 06 will definatly be better then 05.

On the other side tho, 05 was a KICK ASS year for concerts...starting in Feb. we saw Shonen Knife (twice), Muse, Glenn Tilbrook, Oasis, Wilco, U2 (twice), Paul McCartney, and Sarah Slean. It going to be incredibly hard to top all that in one year!!

Why does everyone think it's going to be any better or worse than any other year. Just because some stupid tradition says it's a new year doesn't mean anything. I say it's gonna be worse because then there's no getting my hopes up. If it's better... okay it won't matter to me. I honestly can't figure out why everyone cares it's just another day, and another excuse to buy things........ think about it, without any reasons everyone goes out and almost instinctively buys food, drinks, and other frivolus objects. even if you only warch at home you go out and get food. my parents did it. Why? anyone who can figure out send me an e-mail please.

Any excuse to celebrate and spend time with loved ones is a good thing. :)

Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 19 years, 1 month ago
I can answer that in one word, tradition!
How'd these traditions get started?
I'll tell you. I don't know ...but without our traditions are lives would be as shaky as a Fiddler on the Roof. [cue music]
