If I'm volunteering in the morning, I usually get like 6 hours of sleep, cause I rarely go to bed before midnight at frff.

Word. I stay up later than I would normally, but I sleep in enough to make up for it.

while I agree.... it really depends on WHERE you're camping.
I'll grant that I slept a little better the one year I stayed in a hotel..... but... it was only a LITTLE better.... If only the sun would come up later, I could sleep. They should really have falcon ridge in september.... or some other non-obscenely-hot time of the year. I'm not asking for much... just.... later than 5:30 am. ![]()
For that matter, it matters where you stay if you don't camp. The commute in can be interesting.

i'm a big fan of hotelling/B&Bing, but if I don't have a room (and it looks like I may not this year), I find earplugs invaluable.
they don't solve that dratted daytime-heat problem, unfortunately. ![]()

I probably averaged 4-5 hours of sleep a night last year. Which showed, as I had really big bags underneath my eyes and was half awake driving home on Sunday night.
I find that when it's not sunny out in the morning, I can get much more sleep since I'm not baking in my tent. ![]() ![]()

I debate on whether to stay up late (2-3 AM) jamming or song-circling or to go to bed early so I can tarp run early in the morning. Doing both is VERY tough.
Last year I went to bed early many nights, Friday in particular because the rainstorm sapped all my energy from stressing out. Not fun. Who knows what this year will bring. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
yes, paul is our official master of ceremonies and introducer of talent. which means he's up until the performers stop wanting to play. :D

psha. no, I'm just on Hawaii Standard Time. :P
(it's GOOD to go to bed before sunrise. it's GOOD to go to bed before sunrise. it's GOOD to ... ) i'm digging your latest screen name. :D ![]()
Ha. And I'm digging your new screen name!
(it's GOOD to go to bed before sunrise) So true. That reminds me of FRFF '03 when I couldn't motivate myself to go to "bed" on Sat (I had to stalk one of my fav folksingers at the BOT tent and when Butch Ross started to play at 4 am I was just glued to my seat. D'oh.) ![]()
one year i WAS in my tent, in my sleeping bag, all ready to sleep.
and then. adam brodsky showed up in the 'dome at something like 3:30 am. and after ten minutes of trying to giggle silently, so as not to wake steve and andrew who WERE asleep beside me, i had to give up and re-join the madness. hence my repeated endorsement of earplugs for people who actually WANT to sleep but are easily distracted (or disturbed by sound). ![]()
oooh.
But Adam Brodsky is teh fun (but I'm not sure if this is still true at 3:30am.) Earplugs don't seem to work with my ears :( I tried them last year for the first time not at FRFF but on the plane homebound but they didn't fit that well. I got cranky and just tried it with pressure (in one ear) - the only result was that when I released the plug the ear decided to hurl it about 2 feet across the aisle. *facepalm* :D ![]()
i think he's even funnier when he's sleep-deprived and so is everyone he's singing to. or maybe it just seemed that way because i totally didn't want to be quaking with laughter at that point, but i couldn't help it.
the ear decided to hurl it about 2 feet across the aisle *snork* sorry, but that's just funny. although not as funny as adam. :D ![]()
not from that year, you don't, because you weren't there.
it was '02 or '03, I think. ![]()

I usually get 4-6 hours a night, and try to nap some during the day. Last year was a personal first for me -- I actually fell asleep outside my tent one afternoon, because I was exhausted and it was entirely too ovenlike *in* the tent. I've never slept out in the open like that before in my life, far as I can recall.
Sleeping at night upstairs is a lot easier with earplugs, I've found. ![]() ![]()
poseurs? is that what we're calling them now?
(i guess it's kinder than the other terms we were using ... ) ![]()

it depends on weither I bring sedatives or if I use some other substance to calm myself or if I try to do it without drugs... and that never ends well(in this instance I'm talking perscribed drugs, just to avoid the wrath of the addament anti-drugs people here).
on a regular basis I get 0-2 hours of sleep a night when I'm NOT at frff... so I dunno. it depends. ![]() You must first create an account to post.
