No way! I'm first post?!? awesome!!
I used to own my own car... but then after a series of really bad "trades" I now owe something like 9 grand. ugh. I wish for my old-ass Honda.

I take the bus to school, and my parents drive me places. Because I can't drive. Well, I could, but not legally, and I'd probably get myself killed.

walk, walk.
Just my own feet, the bus, and Zilpha's car. It doesn't seem that odd to me that I don't have a car, but people's jaws tend to drop when I tell them. I'll get a car once I have the money for one, but it's not as impossible to be a pedestrian as people seem to think.
Man.. when I lived in VT, not having a car was Not An Option.
Nothing was within (reasonable) walking distance, and no busses. After the van I had got totalled, and I had to wait several weeks to get my new car on the road, it was hellish. I was able to borrow cars sometimes, but most of the time I was just having to mooch rides off friends.

And probably never will be able to. I only have 90 degrees of vision.

I didn't actually have to pay my dad for my car, he just asked me to fix a few things before I sold it. The drivers side window doesn't roll up so I have a piece of wood with cloth wrapped around it (so it doesn't scratch the window) wedged between the door and the window to hold it up, and it leaks somewhere.. Not sure where, the window doesn't leak... But it looks good.. short of the cloth covered wood piece in the window and the missing bit on the inside of the door... it smells alright usually too, unless it's been raining and the wet carpet smell..
I love my car!

it made sense for me to lease my car, as i work and live with my boyfriend and we carpool, so i never drive to work. the poor beast gets driven like, once a week, when we have to drive separately for one reason or another. it's also a gas guzzler (a 2005 Jeep Liberty).
It's pretty though. i went all out. my mom's friend gave me his Jeep employee discount so we got it for below invoice. i got the limited edition, black with chrome accents and light grey leather. pictures in my profile. i love it! it is teh roomy. and still smells like new car. yaye :P
I just could never really do a lease because I don't treat cars well enough, and my commute is too long.
yes, the lower payments are a bonus too. esp. since i dont drive it as much. i dont plan on buying mine out, plus since a Jeep Liberty is a newer model, who knows what it would act like 6 years down the road ;) i'd only buy a honda or toyota. something i knew would run past 150k ;)

I've owned my Toyota Camry for a little over two years now. We are still paying on my wife's Volkswagen Jetta, but it's only a year old. We should hopefully have it fully paid off by this time next year.
Once that is done we will be saving for a nice healthy downpayment on a truck (probably Toyota Tundra). I want to be able to purchase it out-right or at least be able to pay for a huge portion of it and finance very little.

this is something doug and I have been wrestling with for the past week.
we both don't want to own a car. he hates cars, plus he'd really be the one owning the car, not me ;P however, he has a very long commute. a car would cut that time in half. as it stands, he's out the door at seven, back at seven. he doesn't want to become a "car person". I keep telling him that he won't be, he'll just be a person who happens to own a car. I think there's a difference. You must first create an account to post.
