video game music earworms?

   Discussion: video game music earworms?
sheryls · 20 years, 6 months ago

ever get video game music in your head really badly?

Right now, in my head, i've got this music from mario 3. and it WILL NOT GO AWAY.

mostly, though, i get Ocarina of Time musicand original zeldastuff.

what video game music earworms you most?

Andrea Krause Back · 20 years, 6 months ago
The "radio" music from SSX3
sheryls · 20 years, 6 months ago
Dance Dance Revolution and it's evil precursor, Vib Ribbon, with the awful-but-oddly-alluring and definatley indestinguishable Laugh & Beats music.
ChrisChin is Getting Old · 20 years, 6 months ago
Not music from a video game, but I have The Amazing Race Theme song and background music from the reality show, which at times feels like it could be a video game.

For a while I'd occasionally earworm the music from the Doom games... I've got a bunch of MIDI's I downloaded for all of them, but for good reason -- there was a Windows port of the game I played recently that didn't have the music, so I had to download MID files and put them where they needed to be... :-P

I was actually surprised to hear Doom II's MAP23 (Barrels O' Fun) music on the radio some time back... only heard it once, though, damned if I know who does it. (The version on the radio was real electric guitars, not the MIDI. :-P)

oh, and thank you, btw, for providing the encouragement with your links to get the drivers for MIDI working on my computer. they were messed up for some reason (probably Windows XP).

Random FF series fight-music or boss-fight-music.
Mario music ( the original underworld theme, but sometimes the orginal underwater theme).
Selections from Chrono Trigger (including Ayla's them and Magus's theme)
And sometimes the main theme to Silent Hill (1 or 2). Ooooohspookysoundingmando...

While I am Zelda fan #3831, I find that I have Metroid music in my head more than anything. And here is a neat site for you:

http://www.metroidmetal.com/

It's the Metroid themes redone by some heavy metal band. It's neat.

And if you love Animal Crossing, you can get some of K.K. Slider's songs here:

I wish he were real. {g}

zelda music all the way!!!
music from super mario bros too.
baldur's gate sometimes.
emilie is CRANKY · 20 years, 6 months ago
dude. what is it about the jazzy music being so bloody catchy? i know it all off by heart. it's sad. :D
emilie is CRANKY Back · 20 years, 6 months ago

okay, so i got a tad obsessed by this, and spent all morning trying to find the bloody things. but i did! so yay! go me! etc!

here's the starlight zone theme from sonic. n'aww. it's so CUTE. :)

the super mario theme i get hideously earwormed with is the overworld themefrom super mario land for the gameboy.

and i've always managed to remember thisking theme from supermario bros. 3 for the nintendo. last time i heard it, i was about 12, but somehowi could still remember it in its entirety and in the right key too. because i'm crafty like that. ;D

sheryls Back · 20 years, 6 months ago

OMG, OMG, i love the themes from SML!!!! remember that one that has sort of an..asian flair?? i still remember that one too! and as for that king theme, yeah i dont think i've heard it in at least 10 years either, but i still remember it in the right key :D

wow. just wow. our abilities to retain video game music amazes me :D

now if i could just stop humming Kid Icarusor the cave music from wizards & warriors (oh god, or the stupid "you're running low on life music") i'd be fine :D

sheryls Back · 20 years, 6 months ago

i never played baldur's gate.. i'd say zelda music is the catchiest (original and ocarina of time especially) seconded by the ENTRIE MARIO SERIES.

*pant*

why am i so into this lately? i think i need help.

or a vacation

..so i can play video games.

Bruce Rose Back · 20 years, 6 months ago

I still have a 45 with "Pac Man Fever." The B side was "Doin' The Donkey Kong."

And the music from Frogger is the most addictive music ever.

sheryls Back · 20 years, 6 months ago
donkey kong jr too!
iPauley Back · 20 years, 6 months ago
I hate you forever for linking me to that infernal VGMusic.com site.

OK, so I really don't. *schnugglehug* :-P

-- Pauley (who will be earwormed the rest of the day) :-P
sheryls Back · 20 years, 6 months ago
hahaha, exactly! and this is the asian-y one i was talking about.
iPauley Back · 20 years, 6 months ago
At present the earworm is the background from the first mission on Corneria in StarFox. *growl* ;-P

Deja Vu! I keep running in music like that. In my jazz band, one guy brought in a new piece he wrote called "The Legend of Zelda: Swing's Awakening." It had the Zelda theme jazzified, and it totally kicked the butts of all the other songs that day.

In my running group, my friends and I noticed how our skipping drills looked similar to mario jumping in the video game. We all broke out into all the various mario songs. La la la, la la la la, la la la la la la la! Doo doo doo doo doo-doo! Good times...

derek harrison Back · 20 years, 6 months ago

ocarina of time music is ultimate. a link to the past is good too (my favorite of the series)
baldurs gate is a d&d rpg based in the forgotten realms campaign setting. theres a sequel and each game also has an expansion. i beleive they are all wonderful! but i have my doubts about the third installment coming out, as i usually do when a series begins to seem a tad lengthy, but usually my doubts work out fine, and i certainly think they will with baldurs gate! the ultimate!!! love it love it love it.

haha i just remembered im wearing a zelda shirt right now! oh..and a mario belt!!

Brian Dinsky · 20 years, 6 months ago

Ihave been listening to NES/SNES coverbands lately to the point where I should be getting paid.

www.neskimos.com - ABSOFUCKINLUTELY AMAZING METAL NES COVERBAND

www.minibosses.com - PRETTY DAMN GOOD AS WELL!!!!

www.ice-climbers.com(might be www.ice-climbers.net) THEY RULE, AS WELL.

I can't recommend any of the bands enough, especially the Neskimos. I can't stop listening to them. Seriously. 4 weeks and counting, over and over.

YOU HAVE BEEN SAVED, MY BABIES!

Heh...my roomie's playlist was on shuffle the other day and one of the songs from Doom came up. Ah, demon-killing nostalgia.
Zach · 20 years, 6 months ago
Korobeiniki, the traditional Russian dance song, is more popularly known as the song from Tetris. If you can find Ozma's cover of it, get it. It's awesome.
Zach Back · 20 years, 6 months ago
They sound awesome...but their website is awful.
sheryls Back · 20 years, 6 months ago

is it? i didn't get it to load before.

but if you use launch, put them on there. they're fun :)

Will work for anime · 20 years, 6 months ago
