"* Sun @ 2:10pm: Greg Brown (if still around)"

*wonders if Josh knows something about Greg's health that we don't...:)

angelmusicmaven Back · 20 years, 7 months ago
Don't know if anyone's mentioned Carla Ulbrich yet... she's gotta be worth checking out if you get time... she's playing Sat. and Sun it looks like.
goovie is married! Back · 20 years, 7 months ago
she's one of the winners of last year's emerging artist showcase. i'm looking forward to seeing her at the most wanted swap.
Phoenix Back · 20 years, 7 months ago
Oh Carla U is *super* hilarious and I'll be there as well <g> IIRC she toured along with Deirdre Flint and Jamie Anderson as Girls Gone Funny = :->
Mamalissa! Back · 20 years, 7 months ago
I actually wasn't so crazy about her at the Preview Tour show, but maybe it's because there were more performers onstage than audience members, and the whole thing was kind of a downer.
angelmusicmaven Back · 20 years, 7 months ago

She had the last song before ours to go #1 on Dr. Demento... "If I Had The Copyright (censored)." Funny stuff!!

As far as FRFF though, I'm mostly jealous thinking people will have the opportunty to see Eric Lowen, Dan Navarro, Nerissa and Katryna TOGETHER... I bet soem of those workshops will be super-hyper!

Paul Back · 20 years, 7 months ago
It was that sparsely attended? I wanted to see them when they came through CT in Bridgeport but no one I knew would go
goovie is married! · 20 years, 7 months ago
OMFG ADAM BUSCH IS GOING TO BE AT FRFF.

*DIES*
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 20 years, 7 months ago

Hey, no probalo.

goovie is married! · 20 years, 7 months ago
1. house concert workshop with the panzers and sloan and cady

2. everything on the mainstage thursday night, most of friday night (i'm not big on airdance, but i'm excited about everything surrounding them...who knows, maybe i'll end up really digging them), saturday morning and afternoon (and the early and late evening), and all of sunday

3. the johnny and june tribute, the duos workshop, "my generation" (no clue what this one's gonna be all about, but how can you go wrong with that lineup?), and "cool morning" (ditto)

4. meg hutchinson, alastair, lisabeth, and bloody common ro at the new artist showcase

5. cajun and contra dancing on saturday night, and maybe trying my hand (feet?) at swing dancing on thursday

looks like it's going to be a packed year for me. :D
lawrence Back · 20 years, 7 months ago
"my generation" ... but how can you go wrong with that lineup?

two words: Greg Brown.
goovie is married! Back · 20 years, 7 months ago
i like greg brown! everything with him is sex!
ChrisChin is Getting Old Back · 20 years, 7 months ago
sure it's sex..but it's very creepy sex. (I like him, but I really have to be in the mood to listen to him).
Phoenix Back · 20 years, 7 months ago

*applauds* This is so true for me as well...

Josh Woodward Back · 20 years, 7 months ago
Greg Brown is the best artist at FRFF this year. :)
nate... Back · 20 years, 7 months ago
oh god, you must be kidding.
:D
I mean, granted... this year is pretty lame... but... it's not THAT lame.

goovie is married! Back · 20 years, 7 months ago
how is this year lame, exactly? i've already got a full schedule of stuff to look forward to.
nate... Back · 20 years, 7 months ago
well, it's a personal opinion thing, obviously.

There is just very little that I'll be leaving the campsite for this year.
*shrugs*

I posted "my schedule" below, if you're curious.

Phoenix Back · 20 years, 7 months ago
what she said. Apart from Sat night my schedule is packed ;)
Songbill Back · 20 years, 7 months ago
I think that Greg Brown is a brilliant artist, but his "pick up band" for his main set last year kind of sucked... I'd prefer him solo or with Bo Ramsey
John J. Ryan Back · 20 years, 7 months ago
I agree. Everything about Greg Brown was great except for his main stage set. It was a yawner.
nate... · 20 years, 7 months ago
Here's it is.

I'm going to be spending a LOT of time in camp this year.
The nice part is that nothing interesting is happening after 3 on sunday, so I can take off early and "beat the rush". :)

So little is going on on Thursday, though, that I'm starting to think maybe I should just arrive thursday morning rather than wednesday afternoon.
Kris 'engaged' Bedient Back · 20 years, 7 months ago

Nate, I loves ya, but you are so pompus, it's funny *hugs*

*laughs*

*hides*

nate... Back · 20 years, 7 months ago
huh?
how am I pompous??

Kris 'engaged' Bedient Back · 20 years, 7 months ago

ok, so I looked at that file again, and you aren't as pompous as I thought you were. I only saw the saturday tab abd didn't realize there were others, and thought that for the whole festival, you had only picked about 3 music acts you wanted to see.

just the general feeling of being so much above all the common folk and looking down your nose at the music. but the great part is that you can if you want to, and you'll be my friend anyway *hugs*

nate... Back · 20 years, 7 months ago
heh
fair enough I suppose.

*hugsback*
ChrisChin is Getting Old Back · 20 years, 7 months ago
but coming on wednesday gives us early arrival folks more time to spend with you! ;)
nate... Back · 20 years, 7 months ago
ooo!
that's true.
:)
Yeah, I probably will just do that.
Gordondon son of Ethelred · 20 years, 7 months ago
The tribute should be good, I figured they'd honor Johnny Cash.
Paul · 20 years, 7 months ago
I noticed there is no english country dancing this year. Hopefully they will bring it back next year
ChrisChin is Getting Old Back · 20 years, 7 months ago
yeah, I'm bummed about that. I wanted to try out English Country dancing at FRFF this year, cause I've heard that the English dance that is hosted by the organization where I go contra dancing is filled with a bunch of annoying, critical, nitpicking, mean, nasty very serious dancers. Let's hope they bring it back.
Paul Back · 20 years, 7 months ago
I've made it a point to do it every year at fr. It is alot of fun and not that hard to learn. Its very popular at falcon ridge so I am surprised they don't have it this year. This year they have polka and square dancing. I am not a big fan of either. But its good to have variety so...
Gordondon son of Ethelred · 20 years, 7 months ago
The thing that really stands out for me in the program is Mark Erelli is going to be playing the dance stage for the beginner/mixed level Western Swing on Thursday. I don't think one of my favorite artists has ever performed at teh dance stage before. I'll be there with bells on.
Mamalissa! Back · 20 years, 7 months ago
I'll be there with bells on.

Is that so we'll hear you coming and know to be careful about getting our feet stepped on? ;-}
Misch Back · 20 years, 7 months ago
You should listen to the sound those make when we push him down the hill....
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 20 years, 7 months ago
I don't get no respect.
Misch Back · 20 years, 7 months ago
Don't use no double negatives. Didn't they learn you to talk english good in public skool?
Kris 'engaged' Bedient Back · 20 years, 7 months ago

that's great! I'm so happy for you, it's always nice to be respected. ;-P
