I had to pick other because I couldn't pick the others but I also couldn't honestly say I don't eat sausage. In fact, I had it in my sauce last night. But I am very very picky about what sausage I'll eat. And it's a case by case basis sort of thing. I tend to like chicken sausages with stuff like artichoke in them. I like very mild things. Most sausages I've tried I've disliked. Especially italian sausage.
So, then, you like sausage wink wink nudge nudge?

I like linguica. I used to put it in my doctored-up red beans and rice, but I don't make that anymore. The only sausage I will not even try is blood sausage. UGH.
Umm...is linguica sausage made with tongue?
Mortadella looks nasty. I know it's not really a sausage...but, still.

veggie hot dog sausages! :D taste just like the real thing... honest. :P
I have made and like tofu sausages, though. Mmmm....
me too! although my last name is latvian for carpenter. i'm 50% polish, 25% from both parents side. kielbasa is at every family event - every holiday, funeral, wedding, baby shower, you name it. there's always a crock pot full of simmering sausage that's soooo tender it just falls apart..and is so perfectly spiced..mmmm....
i'm polish, too, but i hate kielbasa.my grandma, who lives with us, likes nothing better than to cook up some kielbasa and saurkraut. the smell lingers for days.

okay. possibly the best thing about datign a polish boy is the access to food. his grandfather makes sausage at least once a year. His kielbasa is awesome. awesome.
HOWEVER. I love breakfast sausages.mmm. and sausage patties. Freybe makes a sausage called Landjaeger. and wow. it's like sausage and beef jerky combined. mmmm. I used to eat a lot of pickled sausages, but not so often anymore--but that's because I used to walk by the place that sold them twice a day, and I don't anymore. and Fletcher's makes a little itty bitty sausage that's smoked and really yummy. deer or moose meat makes great sausage. and all of the ones listed in the poll are really yummy. but. see. how can I choose. this is secretly the real reason I'm goign to germany--I'm going to eat their entire stock of sausage.

You know, "insensitive" is spelled wrong in the last answer choice.

I voted Eye-talian, because I am and I was practically weaned on that and biscotti.
The yummiest sausage I've ever had is from Dartanian's, a mail-order place out of Jersey. Wild Board sausage, rabbit, duck, chicken and truffle. Pricey, slightly, but worth it, oh yes!
There's an italian deli on Eighth Avenue around 29th street in Manhattan that makes homemade sausages. They are the best. I've had pork, duck, chicken, and rabbit. They are all great.

it was a toss up between that and andouille (i think i spelled that right). Anybody here like sausage inna bun?PLEASE tell me at least ONE of you gets that referance!
mmmmmmmm.. I grew up in a very German area of kitchener, and my mom and I would walk to the farmer's market every week to buy food. I think back now and it's funny that I was almost a teenager before I entered my first "Safeway" or a big food store like that. We had "old order" mennonites that would make the most awesome food and crafts, and sell them right off the wagons. heh..I remember our mall had horse "tie up" polls! Anyway. I'd always be allowed to buy an octorberfest bratwurst on a bun. They are sooooooooooo fatty, but so nummy! You also have to have them covered with all the fixins too! I still love em!

Sausage is one of two meat-ish things I have missed on occasion in the 10 years I've been a vegetarian (the other being my dad's meatloaf). Then I realized, it's not the meat I miss-- it's the combination of having something chewy with spicy in it. So-- White Wave's Italian and lemon pepper flavors of baked tofu is tasty. Also, GoLean makes a tofu and wheat gluten sausage-y thing that is pretty doggone good when you fry it up with some garlic, onion, and Cajun spice mix. I call it soysage. I'm sure it doesn't taste the same as meat, but I don't hear my arteries crying when I eat it, either.
Hey, your fault for not coming to FRFF like the rest of us! ;-)
