"Do you like or dislike Jian's current projects? Which ones, and why?"
I like his solo music so far. Not as much as his Fruvous stuff, but it's still good as a whole. The TV show isn't my thing. Way too hip for me, but that's not to say it isn't good. For someone. He's a good producer, I like the sound of his and Martina's albums. And I don't really care about his writing. Did I miss anything?
I'm a huge fan of all of Jian's current projects. I just wish he'd release the *next* 6 songs=P. I had my doubts about >PLAY at the beginning but he's totally grown into the role and he totally fits in. It's awesome! I'm happy for him, you can see that he's having a ton of fun and it's great=).
I'd have to agree - I like all of Jian's projects. >Play is a perfect vehicle for him and it's nice to see a show where lesser known artists can get exposure. Plus it's tons of fun to go down and watch the show tape. :)

My general feelings about Jian's work is that apparently Paul McCartney isn't the only one who wants to fill the world with silly love songs. Actually, the problem I have with his stuff is that it seems to have a narcissistic quality that grates a little. But those same qualities make him perfect as a pop TV personality. I think he shines most in print.
Some people want to fill the world with silly love songs. What's wrong with that?

I've seen 2 episodes of >Play - I think it's a great match for Jian. I get the >Play weekly emails, and he's having way too much fun. There is the influence of the network (like interviewing the woman who interviewed Celine Dione), and you can see him dealing with the format, but I think if he continues with TV he'll really grow into it. And it's also really nice to see a brown-guy on TV - this is the best time for someone like him to be high profile.
I'm not really familiar with Martina's album (I've only seen her live) so I can't comment on that production. I've noted my feelings that the EP was over-engineered elsewhere. But I like some of his solo songs. "Persian Cowboy" is just great. I like "Follow the Road" (although it's a bit Cat Stevens) and I really like "Song for a Father." And he's so cute!

It's amazing how many Fruheads get mentioned and/or win stuff on >Play ;-)
And once there was an extra verse in the Steve Burgess theme, and Jian said..."Ooh, extra verse...I wonder who that is?" It's Fruvous singing, of course.
I doubt jian knows my last name or my school email address. It's long, Polish and I never used it in the presence of him. I doubt that he knew it was me. Had he known, he would've pronounced it correctly.
I'm not one of the fruheads that made it a point to see him after every show I attended and drop my name.

maybe i should try bribing the bbc into showing >play :D
While you're at it, tell them to try to get Whose Line back on again! :)
Is Tony Slattery still around and performing?
He cracked me up on the episodes. My favorite line up would be Greg, Colin, Ryan and Tony. :)
Tony Slattery was so funny. Everyone I know either hated him intensely or thought he was hilarious. I also liked Steve Frost. And, of course, Caroline.
Oh god! Caroline is hysterical when her and Josie paired up!
And then there was the time when Caroline and greg were doing Theatre and Film styles and they were acting out Ballet. She grabbed his crotch! LOL! :D
Faves - Josie Lawrence, Tony Slattery, Steven Frye, Mike McShane, and of course Greg, Colin, and Ryan. Never understood a single word Steven Frost said.
I want to know how this went from "Jian's Current Projects" to "Whose Line!" :D
What a transition! :)
one of my favorite moments was Greg and Steve Frost in the prison doing film and theatre styles and they acted out 'Wallace and Gromit.' =D
