We are just now getting really into the winter season here in the snow belt. 3-4 more months of snow, ice, snow on top of the ice, slush, more snow, sleet that turns into snow and freezing temperatures. Nothing like a good bracing -35 degree windchill factor and 8 feet of the white stuff to just make your day. Not to mention hardly ever seeing sunshine...*sigh*

I'd like snow if it just came a couple of weeks before the holidays and then magically vanished just after the new year. ;)

since i moved to toronto from north bay over 6 years ago i have been missing winter...I wanna go home!
goovie is married! · 22 years, 3 months ago
oOit won't be long before we'll all be there with snooooow! snoooow! snooooow!Oo
ahem.
"white christmas" earworms aside, as far as i'm concerned, it's not allowed to snow for the next two weeks -- until i'm finished moving and all settled in chicago. then it can blizzard all it wants. :)
Paul D. Beasi · 22 years, 3 months ago
Driving north next week, don't want any snow.
Jan Klump Back · 22 years, 3 months ago
I love the FIRST snow of the season......and as long as we (and our loved ones) aren't trying to drive in it, I like snow through December. Then I'm ready for January thaw, and except for a warm surprise snow in March, once, I'm ready to be through with it. Also, if we are going to have snow.....it should be enough to close schools and give teachers and students a play day. Many happy family memories when the children were young.
nate... · 22 years, 3 months ago
Perhaps I'm weird.... but I not only LOVE snow... and LOVE cold weather... I actually really enjoy driving in snow, too!
:D

If I had my way, winter would never get above 32 degrees and we'd have at least a foot of snow on the ground at all times.
*sighs* I wish!
sheryls · 22 years, 3 months ago
seriously, my first thought was that canadian rapper guy :) isnt he steven page's cousin or something? my sister is actually still a fan of that guy. he has aparantly put out another album, and toured and such.

she even has a fan site. fear it :D
Talcott Back · 22 years, 3 months ago
I agree.
The ideal world is 4 months of early fall, 5 months of late fall, and then 3 of waist-deep snow.

SNOW! YAAAAAAAAAAAY THE SNOW!! *****************
sheryls Back · 22 years, 3 months ago
yeah, but talcott, you walk everywhere - i hate dealing with the way people drive in snow. the cars go 20, the SUVs go 80, the semi's own the road as usual (and blind you with sludge as they fly by you) and people with trucks fishtail all over the place because they forgot to put sandbags in the back.

and the 8-8:30 commute up rt 25 sucks enough, add all that into the mix, and you're prepared to hate snow.

i like snow when i have nothing to do, or not far to go :D
I can see the bunny Back · 22 years, 3 months ago
Actually, Snow's last 2 albums have been really good. Less rap and move of an R&B flavour to them. Plus, the guy is hysterically funny! He did a Bluebird North with Jian and they got doing a version of Mrs Robinson all about smoking a joint. The whole room was in tears from laughing. :)
Talcott Back · 22 years, 3 months ago
But alot of that (not all, but a lot of it) is because people aren't used to snow. If it always snowed for three months, the driving at least would be better.

Um...and commutes would be shorter in general (probably not, but I'll claim that ;)

I'm just so happy that the end of November is snow and not 70degrees like last year! :D
Shelly Back · 22 years, 3 months ago
yay for 'white Christmas' earworms!!!!

and yay for snow!!!!!

but blehhhhh for driving in it!!!!!!!

and amen to it not snowing til care gets all moved and settled. word. ;)

but as a december baby -and- as a pennsylvanian, tis biologically ingrained in me to LOVE snow!!!!

{though as a child it lost me many a birthday party doue to crappy driving conditions..hisssssssssssss}

when we were driving up here the other day, there was snow on the ground in the poconos and mom said it flurried here this mornin at 6am. my dogs always loved playing 'westies in the snow', so phantom and i are looking forward to playing it again this year and we know that edgar's spirit will be there with us.

Oh if only nate got stuck in downtown Buffalo November 20, 2000 when we were all snowed in until the next day!

Cars stopped in the road midturn covered so you couldn't tell they were cars. People taking 4 hours to move 2 feet in the roads. All main roads getting out of the city blocked due to the entire city being evacuated at the same time.

Then try sleeping in an office and all restaurants closed that surrounded certain buildings. Convenient for them - hungry for us. I will never eat Ramen noodles ever again. :p

And then deserting your car on the thruway or Expressway only to find that Amherst, NY police towed it when they could and won't tell you where the car is located. DUH!

BTW, the reason this whole thing happened is because the city workers who did the plowing were off for "Hunting season" since that was the first day. 90 out of 100-120 workers didn't show up that day. Patronage runs wild in Buffalo! :p
nitsita Back · 22 years, 3 months ago
Agreed. But take off 3 months of late fall, add one to waist-deep snow, and 2 of spring. But no summer. Summer = ebil.

But yes. Snow is good. Good = Snow. And ok, so I'm biased. I'm a January girl. And I live in Quebec. What does that spell? SNOW!
nitsita Back · 22 years, 3 months ago
Sorry Paul.

Snow here. Although.. It -is- melting :(
nate... Back · 22 years, 3 months ago
As much as you'll kick me for saying it... I would have LOVED to be there.
:)
I live for that stuff.

Blizzards are my lifeblood... I used to have so much fun staying up all night plowing.
ahhh.... those were the days. (or... nights.)

(OK, so I don't exactly stalk snow....or sleep with it.....I just couldn't resist that subject line....)

Well, I grew up in Rochester, NY, land o' lake-effect snow, and that experience didn't deter me from going to school in Vermont, so obviously I enjoy snow. And I have to say, snowball fights are an excellent end-of-semester-stress reliever. :) Besides, it makes the world so pretty! Though, I must admit, by April or so, I'm always ready for spring.

And, I feel I must add, there was some amazingly lovely snow in VT today.....
Mmmm....

I only wish I had come to Noho!
Brian Dinsky · 22 years, 3 months ago
I dislike snow, and that's no secret to anyone that happens to be the least bit familiar with me. I haven't enjoyed snow since I was fairly little. I suppose, though, that I'd have to say I prefer cold over hot for the one simple fact that you can dress for the cold, but not the warm. That aside, good LAWD I hate snow. My doggie seems to love it though. Don't they all?
Jºnªthªn · 22 years, 3 months ago
I grew up in SoCal - no snow.
I can see the bunny Back · 22 years, 3 months ago
Ugh, I hate living with 3-4 months of snow every year....
Agent Scully Back · 22 years, 3 months ago
Mine was all excited when it snowed (and he's 9). He kept asking to go out just to play in it - and there was only like an inch on the ground.

Weird animal! :)

Snow In Summer Back · 22 years, 3 months ago
ooo... i remember that one. that was my last *real Buffalo blizzard.* i was stuck in Welland where we had like 3 in of snow. Too bad i really didn't watch the news and/or had the WNY snow bravado ingrained into me by then. soooo... i made the hour long trip back to Amherst at 11PM since i was working overnights. i had to start slowing down about halfway to the border & by the time i made it to Ft Erie, i found that all the bridges were closed. *sigh* i would have been fine, but when i called my boyfriend back at home to call my work for me (since i didn't believe in cell phones back then & was standing waist high in snow in a phone booth) & he said, "well, since you're already at a phone why don't you just call them?" *double sigh* my favourite part of this mess is when i came back to work 2 days later after all the driving bans were lifted, my cow-orkers asked me why i hadn't come in. my reply? "well, i was snowed into Canada the first day & secondly, i don't drive when the bans are out unless you or the bank are going to pay my tickets." that shut them up. :-)
i loathe snow... but then again, i always had a self-loathing issue. ;-)
Agent Scully Back · 22 years, 3 months ago
Oooh I didn't think of that. ;)
Rachel Beck · 22 years, 3 months ago
I like dry snow, but not wet snow. I have a mile walk to work, and I hate wet cold feet.
· 22 years, 3 months ago
oh! the white stuff?
I thought for a moment you were talking about the singer Snow...BLEH!
heh..
yeah, I love "the" snow!
(although I live in a place where it rains most of the time..)
I would trade it all for snow and sun any day!
When I lived up north..I saw plenty, and I didn't really care about the cold! People dress for it, PLUS they know how to drive in bad weather..
here in Vancouver..a few snow flakes fall, and there's a 50 car pile up.."damn summer tires!"
