A Walk to Remember

Half cheesy teen movie, half tear-jerker

Do not be fooled by the cast list (yeah, I know Mandy Moore's in it...bear with me), previews, or back-of-the-box summary. This movie took me totally off-guard by being deep, touching, and surprisingly well-acted. (Yeah, I know Mandy Moore's in it. Just trust me.) I was expecting a cute romantic comedy along the lines of She's All That. And, for the first half, I got it. Then it took a surprising turn and became really moving - one of those films that keeps your eyes filled with tears that are just dying to spill over the edge. The ending is both sad and, somehow, uplifting. Go rent it. Really. Or read the book...I haven't, but I plan to very soon. :)

despite the fact that this was another cheesy nice-girl-meets-boy-of-dreams-is-sick-and-dies movie.. I actually rather liked it.. and damn is that one song from her musical thing catchy.. *sigh*
