   Discussion: SMAF 2008 Roll Call
Kris 'engaged' Bedient · 16 years, 3 months ago
It seems a bit premature to roll call for falcon ridge, and not have anything up for SMAF.

So, here it is.

Are you coming? Are you bringing anyone? Will you bring cookies? Will you share them? Will you bring your neighbor's garden gnome?

Do I really need to reply? I've only missed one SMAF, the second. The rest of you really need to go. You'll have an amazing time.

We're thinking of heading out for one of the days. I mean, since it is practically in our backyard.  At least compared to FRFF.
Misch Back · 16 years, 3 months ago
My plan is to be there.

someone once said to me that at FR you can walk up to a performer and introduce yourself, while at SMAF the performers walk up to the fans and introduce themselves. it is a small and intimate festival and a great deal of fun.  also, unlike FR, there are real bathrooms!

you can camp in a tent or in one of the cabins - but those cabins can be very cold and drafty.

another thing about SMAF is the song swap format for many of the performances - they tend to lead to great interaction and loads of fun.

there are not that many tents - but more people should try to come - it is worth it. i plan to be there again this year.

I think that was me who said that to you. I've certainly said it others.
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 16 years, 3 months ago
At the first SMAF Brian Gundersdorf and David Morreale just walked up to us and introduced themselves. I always figured that was because:
a) Carey is really cute.
b) She was with me so they figured she had low standards.
But it set the tone of the festival for me.

You can find out about SMAF at their website Smaf.info It should be updated soon. SMAF is an intimate festival where there are seemingly as many musicians as their are concert goers. If you like the idea of participating in a song circle with the featured acts at a festival go to SMAF. The only acts that I know are playing this year are disappear fear and We're About 9.

Highly unlikely.  I've got them finals right around them.

Booo!

Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 16 years, 3 months ago
So do I but I'm blowing them off! You can lead the song circles in prayer.
Mamalissa! Back · 16 years, 3 months ago
Ah yes, but you are a teacher and I am a student.  Therein lies the difference.
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 16 years, 3 months ago
Students are supposed to learn from teachers! Am I going to hell?
Misch Back · 16 years, 3 months ago
Only when you're headed to New Jersey.
john r · 16 years, 3 months ago

Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 16 years, 3 months ago
Actually John is the exception. They are only acquaintances.
Gordondon son of Ethelred · 16 years, 3 months ago
They finally updated the SMAF website and the confirmed performers are up: Confirmed Performers The highlights are We're About 9, disappear fear, and Ellis.
Misch Back · 16 years, 3 months ago
Conveniently, the date for earlybird tickets has passed, even before the website was updated.
Kris 'engaged' Bedient Back · 16 years, 2 months ago
Anne said she's extending it to March 31st.
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 16 years, 2 months ago
Anne? Do you mean Terry?
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 16 years, 2 months ago
