Stood up

   Discussion: Stood up

oh my.

that really really sucks.

*HUG*

but... did anyone see your outfit other than the security chick? because if not, it might not have been a waste afterall.
Andrea Krause Back · 19 years ago

I dunno. I did sit in that little glass waiting room for an hour. So lots of strangers saw it. And everyone here at work since I was at work all day. Sigh.

I really hope I didn't screw up somehow. All the guy gave me was a date, time, and a contact name. I showed up on that date, 15 minutes early for that time, and gave the security guard that contact name. Unfortunately my phone was missing so I couldn't call the contractor dude and have him get me more info. (Also had no way of knowing if they'd called my phone or even home to cancel, since I had no phone...they didn't, but it's part of what made me give up. That I could sit there indefinitely to find that I'd gotten a call to cancel that I'd never heard.)

Contractor dude's going to try to find out what happened and try to reschedule. I really hope he doesn't want to reschedule for today because I'm not prepared. (originally it had been a choice between yesterday and today and I picked Wednesday.)

HATE getting so psyched up for something only to have it be a non-thing.

Well, if it's any consolation, the rest of the outfits looked great too :)

Sucks that it didn't happen, but I doubt you screwed up...probably somebody just messed up scheduling. And an hour is more than enough time to have waited.

And hell, once it DOES happen, the guy will probably be so apologetic that you'll be a shoo-in ;)

One of the many many reasons I love you more than words can say? You wrote "shoo-in". :)

katie Back · 19 years ago
Hehe. I guess most people write "shoe-in" ? Anyway that prompted me to look up the origins:

from http://members.aol.com/MorelandC/HaveOriginsData.htm

"In fact, the meaning comes from horse racing lingo: corrupt jockeys conspire and agree to hold back their mounts and to "shoo in," or urge forward, a slow horse on which they have bet. In such a phony contest, the shoo-in is the only horse in the race that is trying to win."

Heheh yes. :) You win my love by writing right! :)

oh, I'm sorry Andrea. Let us know when you figure out what really happened.

From the recruiter dood:

Andrea,
I can't apologize enough for what happened with the interview yesterday. I got word back this morning that the manager was not in and somewhere some wires got crossed about canceling her interviews for the day. I was told that she has asked them to cancel her remaining interviews for the time being. I assume it is some sort of personal issue.
Anyway, it looks like I will not hear about anything being rescheduled until after the New Year. I will keep you posted.
I am so sorry for the inconvenience but hopefully we will get this going soon.
Mollie Back · 19 years ago
You have to wait until after the new year? That's crap, eh? In any case, it's good that they acknowledge that they dropped the ball. Hopefully that will work to your advantage in the long run.
