I love kids. Don't have any of my own yet, but I look forward to having some someday.

I like kids. Really I do. But the "tasty" part was too funny to resist.

After spending 2 years as a camp councilor at agirls scout camp I have realized that kids are great so long as they go home iwth their parents at a timely hour on friday

I like kids. I'm also terrified of them. Sometimes I want them, sometimes I think the worst thing I could do is be a mother, because I'm so ill-equipped to even take care of myself. My coworkers have given me "baby therapy" in the past year or so...I'm way less afraid to hold the little ones now. And I"m learning to talk to them, sorta. That's part of what I'm intimidated by. I don't want to talk down to them but I don't want to talk above their level and I have NO idea how to find the right level.

yeah... I can relate...
I always feel a little... awkward around them.

That said, however, I find kids to be absolutely fascinating.. and amazing. :)

Someday I definitely hope to have kids.

exactly. :)

actually, don't worry too much about talkign above their level.

kids are brighter than we give them credit for, and pick up on much more than we think.

plus, unlike most adults, if a kid doesn't understand what you said, they'll say so and ask you to explain :)

well. that's true for most of the kids i've known.

i'll not go into a garrett blurb here ;D

I don't like or dislike kids just because they are kids... it's like any other group of people. Some I like, most are intolerable. :)

Of course I love my OWN baby girls more than there are words to express.

I tend to not like children once they start talking to about the age of 7. Other than that...they are great!
Kris 'engaged' Bedient · 19 years, 9 months ago
I have one. I want more. But I want help next time.

There is a huge challenge in making a new person. It's exciting too, like when they walk up to you and say that two times six is 12.

They can be annoying too though. That's when you tell them to leave you alone and go off by yourself to chill out.

I don't like most people's kids, especially the ones who are not raised with any sense of discipline. Personally my wife and I are going to be DINKs for life. We will probably host some high-school internation exchange students thought a little later in life.

I like some of my cousins, one who is very very intelligent for her age. We are currently saving to provide her with some financial aid when she gets to college age (not for about another 9 years), because she's so smart and we don't want her to be limited. Her parent's don't pull down all that much money. We also take her on fun, but educational trips every so often, just to keep her imagination and interest going.

But I can't stand kids until they are old enough to carry on a half-way intelligent conversation. I also can't stand that people seem to have kids nowadays without realizing how big a financial burden they can be and how much work and responsibility kids are.

Some people seem to have kids because "that's what you do", go to school, get married, have 2.5 kids, etc.

your response most matches my own. i'd definitely do childcare for a living & i really hope i have a bunch of my own one day.

it's too bad there wasn't a poll option that was more vehement :)

Evolution seems to have landed me with a very strong motherly instinct. Every time I see a cute little kid I desperately want to have one liekRIGHTNOWomg!!!!!!!111!!!!

I've come up with a theory that kids are kind of ber-people. They're like little adults who haven't yet learned how to be polite, how to pull punches, what not to say in polite company.

And I just can't handle life without a certain layer of protective bullshit. So my vote went to "hate."

Exactly!
That's why they're so freakin awesome. :)

most adults i know haven't yet learned how to be polite, how to pull punches, and what not to say in polite company. kids are just more honest about it. (:
