Isn't that the point? I don't go to these shows for the music, the company or the food, you know! ;)
A.J. Back · 20 years, 1 month ago
Heh. I thought Little Demon sounded like a Screamin' Jay song, but I wasn't sure. How did you know that?

The "mother of all protest songs" is Bob Dylan's Masters of War

Odd. Having read this thread except for your post, AJ, I was listening to my iPod on random on the way to work today, and "Masters of War" came around.

I swear I immediately thought, "I don't know what Mike played at that concert, but this is the mother of all protest songs."

Nice.

"You've thrown the worst fear that can ever be hurled
Fear to bring children into the world
For threatening my baby unborn and unnamed
You ain't worth the blood that runs in your veins

How much do I know to talk out of turn?
You might say that I'm young, you might say I'm unlearned
But there's one thing I know though I'm younger than you
Even Jesus would never forgive what you do"

She knew that because I looked it up and told her :)

Yeah, props to Kath for that one. My musical knowledge isn't all that extensive, I rely on everyone else to fill in the blanks ;)

The Tom Waits song Mike sang was the theme from Francis Ford Coppola's 'One From the Heart.' It's called 'This One's From the Heart' I think.
.. on second thought I don't think that's the right song. It's a duet.
All the same, I'm almost positive the song is from that soundtrack.
hkath Back · 20 years, 1 month ago
That's what I thought!! Then I searched and found the lyrics to "This One's From the Heart" and it was so not the right song. Maybe another one from the soundtrack, yeah. One whose title isn't obvious.
Fiona Back · 20 years, 1 month ago
Drea got it - it *is* from the Thise One's From the Heart soundtrack, but it's called "I Beg Your Pardon"

Does anyone else thing that "Hugh" should be pronounced "Hug"? I mean, you don't pronounce the exlaimation of "Ugh" as "Ew"... Dugh yugh?
Joe Navratil Back · 20 years, 1 month ago
Um, are you talking about Pisco Bandito (the Bandit Ghoti)'s brother Hugh?
Rachel Marie aka RAI Back · 20 years, 1 month ago
Read the subject of the original thread. ;o)

I have to say I saw no tapers there. Fordy taped it himself, but I don't think you're going to get a copy that way. ;)

I had to leave Toronto two days prior. Blargh.
