Tree Pt. 2

   Discussion: Tree Pt. 2
katie · 20 years, 9 months ago
Heh. I don't ever put up a tree (for one thing, one or the other of the pets would either knock it over, chew lights and die, climb up it and get stuck at the top, or all three) or anything else, for that matter - I believe I own an ornament, although I may have given it away, which was a gift.

Basically the only Christmas tradition in our house is having to get up much earlier than we would really prefer and grumbling our way to my parents' house(s, now, though we only go to mom's) at the crack of ass Christmas morning to glare at my parents over cup of coffee number seventeen for their unholy level of chipperness at what any sane person would consider a very unchipper hour.

I have yet to buy even a single present. Every year the same thing happens - somewhere around December 20th, I realize that it is December 20th, as opposed to, say, October, curse fate and rejoice in at least the fact that I am the fastest shopper known to man. I have to go out shortly to attempt to accumulate enough goods to distribute to various family members, most of which is easy except Mike and my dad, both of whom are impossible to purchase for unless one's budget is in the many hundreds or thousands of dollars (gadgets).

AND, to make everything even lovelier, I am sick as a dog with some kind of hideous flu or cold or whatever the hell this thing is that Mike's friend George brought up for us allllll the way from Washington, D.C., where his child took up a school collection out of charity for those of us who are lacking in children, and thus, in the joy that is a thorough exposure to every single germ known to man. AND, probably due to the amount of extremely painful coughing I have been doing, a little cyst by my mouth decided now would be a fabulous time to explode and blow up the entire right side of my face. I look like a Warner Brother's cartoon of Person With Toothache, minus the kerchief holding my jaw on.

So...uh, as they say, count your blessings.... :)

Seeing as I alienated all of my family, we have nowhere we need to go. Heh.

Eeep sickness and owies! Not good. Lots of people I know have been getting sick. Guess I got off easy with my (now gone) ear infection, because I'd rather have one part of my body feel like turd than all of it!

For some reason my cats have no interest in messing with the tree. Luna just likes to sleep on the skirt and Chevy eats bows off packages. Which either end up being thrown up or making festive poo. We try to keep them out of her reach though because it's not good for her, obviously.

Ppth. You didn't alienate your family - the remaining parts of your family, which I think is mostly your sister, appear to be perfectly non-alienated. The parts that were already alien - yer mom, yer stepmom who you clearly don't feel like you have much of a relationship with - just stayed that way.

Besides, I've definitely managed to alienate a *couple* of family members over the years. Sometimes permanently, sometimes less so.

The phrase "festive poo" is brilliant. I wish I had more opportunities to employ it in normal conversation: "Hey, Donna - take a look at this festive poo!"

Have good xmas?
Andrea Krause Back · 20 years, 9 months ago

It hates me, that's why. Your puppy has deemed me unsuitable for looking. *sob*

christmas was good. uneventful. messy, in terms of messy kitchen and messy wrapping everywhere. :) Cool presents, good company, etc. You?

katie Back · 20 years, 8 months ago
oh, no, not at all. I'll email pics tomorrow.

xmas was good - all about PUPPY!!!! Got Puppy (now Ruby :), puppy books, puppy toys, puppy calendar, puppy bed...hehe

Xmas eve was weird because my mom invited insane people. xmas day was fine - pretty much standard. All-around uneventful until actual puppy day. Ruby, on the other hand, is VERY eventful. I'm utterly in love. :)
