Yet I often get sucked in. *sigh*
Andrea Krause · 21 years ago

I like them in general...I think we'd be a very boring community without that facet. But I do get sad when they get personal and insulting. I don't think there's any need for that.

George E. Nowik Back · 21 years ago

i don't think they're so bad either except for the fact that you're correct: people start getting insulting and defensive when their opinion of a political situation is not shared. tricksy false.

isn't it appropriate how the current graph of answers looks like someone flipping the bird?

;)

Yes.

Personally I love them, and I wish there were more. But it's not much fun when they do get personal. Everyone is entitled to an opinion....even if it means they like bush... :-D
Pacho Back · 21 years ago
what a scary thought... the bush thing i mean ;)

See... that's exactly what I'm talking about...

No, wait...

That's exactly what I'm refusing to get involved in.

Don't worry, Gella.. even though there's only one out of 5,000 of us who likes him, we still like ya just the same ;-)

What're you laughing at??

I NEVER SAID I LIKED BUSH YOU %#$@*&$^@*&^%~!!!!
Talcott · 21 years ago
I agree completly.

But I think things tend to stay (for the most part) far more sane than on any other board/group I've been on.
renita · 21 years ago
jaci. as usual. spoke my mind better than I could have.

Gordondon son of Ethelred · 21 years ago
There are some topics that I try to totally avoid. I know that the I'll just get mad if I read them and nobody is change their opinion because I chime in. There are also some comments within the threads that I will not touch with a ten foot poll.
Andrea Krause Back · 21 years ago

Hrm. Which leads me to another question I'd be interested in...

Has anyone ever changed their view/stance on a political issue because one of the discussions here? Or are we all so set in our views that it's futile?

nate... Back · 21 years ago
I have yet, in my life, to see any political discussion accomplish anything.

goovie is married! Back · 21 years ago
well, anything but pissing people off, anyway. :)

i avoid political discussions like the plague, both because i think they tend to be destructive rather than constructive, and because i'm not interested in or informed enough about political issues to participate fully.

now, bring on a good debate about victorian feminist literature, or phonics vs. "whole language," or which cast members of saved by the bell are best suited to play which characters on taxi, and i'll be all ears. :)
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 21 years ago
Screetch = Jim
Slater = Tony
Jessie = Elaine
Zach = Bobby
Mr Belding = Alex
ChrisChin is Getting Old Back · 21 years ago
you see...I think that Screech would be better suited to play Latka Gravas, and that Mr. Belding would be Louie (if he was a bit shorter) but I would agree with the other ones, given the limitations.
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 21 years ago
I considered both of those choices Belding is too nice for Louie. I flipped a coin for screetch.
goovie is married! Back · 21 years ago
altho, gordon brought up a good point in a frumsg--if screech were latka, then tori spelling could be simka. :)
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 21 years ago
Notice that we call everyone else by their character name but we call Tori Spelling by her name. And of course we can't forget the Character Tori. Well actually we all have.

You didn't mention your good one, Mikey = John. First season casualties.
goovie is married! Back · 21 years ago
that's just because i can't remember tori spelling's character's name.

i actually think tori the character would be good as elaine. or maybe rhea perlman's character, who dated louie for a while. "zena...heh heh heh."
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 21 years ago
Enough of this silliness. This is a serious poll. We need to talk about serious things like Which Saved by the Bell character maps to which Buffy Character.

Kelly = Buffy
Jessie = Willow
Belding = Giles
Zach = Xander
Screetch = Jonathan
Lisa = Cordy

Damn, that works way to well.
goovie is married! Back · 21 years ago
heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

dude. the best part is that we actually saw a guy one time at jammin' java who looked just like danny strong (jonathan) and was dating a girl who looked just like tori spelling on sbtb.

also, mikey as jesse, nikki as pilot willow, miss bliss as jenny calendar, tori as amy, and slater as very very gay larry.
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 21 years ago
I remember them. Was that for Voices on the Verge?

I love your throw away character maps. Slater as Gay Larry is beautiful. OH no, people have written SBTB slash haven't they?
ChrisChin is Getting Old Back · 21 years ago
Tori's character was named Violet Bickerstaff (this is from a google search), who would make a very scary simka. Maybe Mr. Carosi (Ernie Sabella) could play Louie.
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 21 years ago
I'm glad you had to look that up on google. I'm ashamed to know as much as I do know about that show.
Gordondon son of Ethelred · 21 years ago
You might have noticed that I've talked about Saved by the Bell here more that I have politics. That's pretty much how I feel about the forums. I'm interested in politics and politically active but I find there is more intelligent discussion of silly things than politics. It might seem strange but it is true. People use their brains more and their glands less.
nate... Back · 21 years ago
In addition, the actors from Saved by the Bell are vastly more intelligent than any politician who has ever lived.
