Even with our example cited as a success story, I'd advise against it in most cases. For most people, moving requires cutting ties to people and places that are comfortable and safe. In your case, comfortable and safe don't really fit. Which brings the question: What do you have to lose?
Specifically, for you I see a lot of advantages. You've founda rather large number of people who care about your health and welfare in the area. You don't seem to hate Ohio (and really, aside from Cleveland, what is there to hate?). They have Bob Evans.
Selfishly, Ohio is much closer that Maine. That's been a fairly common theme in the replies.
Weigh your options... I think we'll see you in Ohio. :-)
