Pacho · 20 years, 10 months ago
fuck anyone who can't take the time to get to know *you*. i hate people that just blindly believe whatever negative spews out about others, especially when they're supposedly close family friends. grah!
zil Back · 20 years, 10 months ago
I just need to go far far away.

but right now I'd settle for curling up into a ball and never getting out of my bed-I mean couch. someone elses couch.
Pacho Back · 20 years, 10 months ago
Feel free to borrow my couch any time. Stupid f***ing people and their stupid f***ing shite.

How far do you want to go, Sissa?

I'm especially worried about the mom thing. Feeding you one line while feeding everyone else something different... I used to think that mom wanted you to stay, but it looks more and more like she's trying to push you away. On the bright side, that should make it easier to sever the ties. (look at me, talking like I've ever broken familial bonds... or taken a psychology class.)

I've always suspected that certain people attack others when they know that their victim is a better person than they'll ever be. And since the pronouns are a little confusing (even for me), I'll add an example to claify.

My former manager, Doug, had the impression that I was a hardcore slacker (which I am, but not during my 40 hour workweek). He never passed up a chance to undercut me... undermining my authority with the team and attacking my self-esteem and work ethic (two points on which I am especially sensitive). These attacks started my hatred for my job.
I'll readily admit that I'm not the best team leader in the store, but I'm closer to the top of the list than the bottom. Since then, he's been promoted (three times... he's apparently running a district around St. Louis now). I've been a much happier person ever since he left my life. Of course, the two managers I've had since then have been doing the same things to other TL's, but my torment subsided.
I won't say that Doug had NO redeeming qualities, just like I won't say that about your father (yet... even though I've already classified him as non-human). I will say that he kept whatever goodness he had locked up tight. To this day, comparing someone to "the Doug" is one of the worst insults I can bring... its best point being that no one has any idea they've been insulted.

I want to go to ohio, but bloomington is good too.... *le sigh*
Talcott Back · 20 years, 10 months ago
Either one is good...
Bloomington would be much closer to here than Maine...

Plus, it would really help me make up my mind about gradschool ;-)

Seriously, go [mid]west young zil.

*squeeze*
Bruce Rose Back · 20 years, 10 months ago
Of the two, I'd take Ohio... and that's without knowing Talcott. Bloomington's a nice place to visit and one of Indiana's few redeeming features, but... wait a minute. I want you to come here... why does it look like I'm trying to talk you out of it?

Ignore all that. Bloomington is *great*... from the coffee shops to the music stores to the campus. And (depending on your major, Talcott) the grad school's pretty good too. :-) If either of you two (or both... or anyone else who reads this) wants a guided tour, let me know.
Talcott Back · 20 years, 10 months ago
I'm most likely going to go for a Library Sciences degree, although I might wind up going on for a Creative Writing masters instead (in either case, Indiana is on my list for grad school)

And I just might take you up on the tour idea...
Bruce Rose Back · 20 years, 10 months ago
I'll try to keep my cynicism in check. Let me know when you'll be in the area. Maybe we can talk Zil into coming down for the tour as well. It'd be worth it, even if I had to drive out and give you both rides to Indiana. :-)

(While it would be worth the drive, I won't be able to get that kind of time away... at least, not for something like a Bloomington tour. So, while I'm not serious about the ride, I am serious about the tour.)
