uncomfortable muchly?

   Discussion: uncomfortable muchly?
zil · 21 years, 9 months ago

hey everyone!

so I was talking about something that was not good for the FHDC users at work, thing is I didn't even think of that (my own fault I know) but when I realized I could get people in trouble or something I was like, *eek DUDE* and started talking about twinkies... which is what I always do when I'm uncomfortable. I switch the topic to twinkies or daisy's.... so ... what do you do when you're uncomfortable?

I usually have mild panic attacks. I really should learn how to control them.
Andrea Krause Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
I peel/pick at things. usually my skin but I will use something else if it's handy.
Annika Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
I bite my bottom lip, or rub my arms, if I'm really nervous, or stressed I'll scratch them, change the subject, usually to socks, my love of socks, I love socks, they're great! Yay!

heh... I dunno if'n ya'll wanna know ALL the things I do when I'm uncomfortable... but oh well. suffa!

-PANIC ATTACKS

-vommit

-yell at myself in my head saying really mean nasty things about me to myself for creating said uncomfortableness. to save time I'm usually yelling more than one thing at myself at one time.

-slouch

-suck my lip into my mouth on one side.

-ball my hands into fists nails digging in to palms.

-try to dissapear.

-get quiet

-leave as fast as possible... to the point of rudeness.

Dude, I do a lot of that too, mostly when I'm stressed, not so much when I'm nervous, although a lot of stress comes from being nervous, but not just like general nervousness, does anyone understand what the hell I'm talking about?!! (Does anyone else hear that infernal ringing!?)
Yeh, anyhow, I get vomity, shakey, think some horrible crap about myself, things I would never say to anyone no matter how much I disliked them, become very quiet, see if I can find an escape (where are the exits, where did I park, where are the bathrooms, etc.), think up excuses why I can't stay, some really lame ass excuses like, "umm.. My sock drawer is sticking, I think I need to go home and fix it." I'll get a funny look and I'll leave. I smoke a lot when I'm nervous, deep quick drags, I'll flick my cigarette way to much, usually causing it to break. MMmhmmmm!! I'm a nutter!

I blush. Really, really easily, and very brightly, from what I'm told. (Also fidget and avoid eye contact, and/or laugh too hard at the slightest amusing thing.)
Andrea Krause Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
Sounds like me.
A girl named Becca Back · 21 years, 9 months ago
Well, nice to know I'm not alone. :)
The problem is, if someone asks me a question that makes me uncomfortable, I'll automatically blush, and probably avoid looking at them...which makes them think I'm lying when I answer and causes them to bug me more persistently...which makes me blush more... This led to no end of teasing and misery in middle school ("Do you have a crush on so-and-so??" "*Blush* No, of course not." "She's blushing! She must be lying!" etc.) and can still be awkward sometimes. *Sigh.

Yeah I know that feeling too. I can't look people in the eye, most times. And I feel like that makes me look dishonest when I'm telling the truth.

Also it leads to the problem of seeming like I'm rude. Like, I can't look people in the eyes all the time so I sometimes look at their nose or eyebrows or mouth. Just as an alternative to the eyes. But they start thinking I'm looking at these things because there's something wrong with them and I can't tear my eyes away and that's so not the truth.

fiddle with hair.

I have a tendancy to stammer on like a ninny.
emilie is CRANKY · 21 years, 9 months ago

in situations where other people (in general) are involved, i have a manual override button which allows me to be happy and smiley the entire time. (even my bestest friends have never seen me angry or upset. it's just a thing i have.) when i'm embarrassed or uncomfortable, though, igo into overdrive with the whole happiness thing, and i end up irritatingly hyper. italk too loud, laugh too much, and dance about a lot.also i say really weird things and eventend to go into fruvous bantermode, which completely weirds people out (canadian humour is sometimes lost on the english).so, er, yeah. don't ever make me uncomfortable, unless you're prepared to thwap me. :D
