Do you have Tatoos?

Why would anyone shove ink under their skin? Makes no sense to me. :) But then again, I don't understand piercings, either. *shrugs*
i've seen what tattoos look like 20 or 30 years down the road, and it's not pretty.
Thankfully, by answering the polls late, I can just tack an agreement onto someone else's comment, rather than creating a unique comment of my own. I agree with the permanance comment, but I've had temporary tattoos (All the artwork, none of the commitment.).
Same here. I fully plan to get one someday but I do not have any now. None of the answers really fit. Bleah.
Me five!
I just want a Canada flag. (It's probably not that I love Canada so much as I dislike all the US's policies, but whatever)
Canada rocks. I love it here.
Yeah, I'm pretty much a "No, but never say never" kind of person. Funny, my husband and I were just talking about this. I don't see myself ever getting one, but you never know... I might if the time/reason seemed right... so none of the answers fit me.

as i have said and will say again...my body is a temple and my tatoos are the stained glass windows to my soul. i love the two i have right now. and i hate the argument "well you know they are going to look like crap when you are 80 right?" Mine are on my back and if i can turn around to see them with out a mirror i will be so excited that i have that much range of motion to do so, not the condition of my ink. Tatoos are a love hate relationship with ppl but please don't call it self mutilation. its not. i did not get mine to rid my body of pain or as a control factor. you could use the same argument then for coloring your hair...my hair is brown, that is the way it is intended therefor when i dye it red i am mutilating my body because i am changing its intened state...you know what i mean. and yes i think some ppl take the art to an extream what with facial tatoos and all. Personaly that is not for me but if someone eles wants that cool, more power to them. i guess my point is that it is NOT self mutilation it is an art form that has been around since the dawn of man. and to quote cartman "its my body i will do what i want" peace out Erica
I should read entire messages I reply to before replying. lol. I have 5 piercings in each ear and want to get a cartilage piercing. I don't have to wear them all the time. If I go to a job interview it is easier to just take out a few earrings than cover up a tattoo (depending on the location). I'm not into tattoos but I would definately get a temp one done with henna. On guys (depending on the guy) I like those Celtic or Tribal armbands. Not the huge ones but a somewhat narrow one.

how about "no, because I'm deathly alergic to ink/dyes, but I have designed some tatoos for some parlors in the art district"? yeah... I don't imagine many people would claim that. but I'm all for them! they are kewl and rocking, but go to a good place because hepatitis is not kewl or rocking. werd.

my answer is between "i don't believe in self-mutilation" & "i'm not allowed." i won't get a tattoo because judaism forbids it.
i think many tattoos look coo, i even know what the tattooo i'll never get looks like & where it'll go. on the other hand, i did see a really nasty infected tattoo back when i worked in an infirmary & that gives me extra pause. oh & erica, a bit in your post reminded me of a quote: "i'll have you know that my body is a temple. so i guess it's just as well i'm an atheist." --the immortal tank girl :) i'm with miriam on this one. Although i'm not terribly religious, there are a few jewish laws i stick to, especially those that keep me away from needles. :D oh, and i'm terrified of needles. did i leave that part out? but it's also the idea of it being permanent, and against jewish law. i did, however, pierce my tongue when i was 18. weather that's forbidden by jewish law is beyond me, but it's gone now.

I got my first tattoo last summer and my second one this past February. I'm happy with them. They're chinese symbols and they mean Love and Fate. They're on my inner right ankle and on the back, respectively. I want to get two more on the same ankle. I'm always hiding them from my grandmother (she's jewish) when I see her because I know she'd give me hell for it. With the location I've chosen, it's very easy to hide them. When she's not around, I let them breathe. At least I got tattoos that mean something =) *S*
yeah it was a gah piercing...they were taken out as soon as the flash faded...stuff like that gives the ppl who pierce and tatoo responsably a bad name
