Erica: movin' to Ohio!! · 21 years, 6 months ago
i have no idea what this argument is about, still. i'm not one to look past my own doorway and give a damn about the world.
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 21 years, 6 months ago
It's from the Kid's Song.
sheryls · 21 years, 6 months ago
"I defer to you..canandians."
no one · 21 years, 6 months ago
Should Quebec decide to separate, there'd be two Quebecs, and if they in turn separated, there'd be four. The ensuing chain reaction would result in an infinitely large number of Quebecs of infinitely small size, possibly dragging the rest of the univere into a metaphysical vortex in infinity.

I'll get out of your way now.
Josh Woodward Back · 21 years, 6 months ago
Actually, there's this country up north called "Canada", and they have provinces which are similar to our concept of states. One of these provinces is called Qu... nevermind :)
nate... · 21 years, 6 months ago
I'll give the same answer I always shouted out at shows.

"WHO GIVES A SHIT?!"

:D
John J. Ryan · 21 years, 6 months ago

1. We should really ask  nitsa.

2. If they did seperate, then Canada can't be really big anymore.

Mamalissa! Back · 21 years, 6 months ago

Well then I'll give the same answer *I* always shouted out at shows:

"What's Quebec?"

John J. Ryan Back · 21 years, 6 months ago
I think it would be the coolest thing ever if we got the entire audience to give that answer.
nate... Back · 21 years, 6 months ago
I agree!

It would be especially cool since it would mean we were at a fruvous show. ;)

hkath Back · 21 years, 6 months ago
If they separate, it probably means that Nitsa, MC and I are all no longer Canadians.
jaye Back · 21 years, 6 months ago
what's a fruvous?
nate... Back · 21 years, 6 months ago
This band that broke up a couple years back.

They did that green eggs and ham song.
John J. Ryan Back · 21 years, 6 months ago
I thought Weird Al did the Green Eggs and Ham song! That's what it told me on Napster, and they're ALWAYS right!
renita Back · 21 years, 6 months ago
:(

that would be sad.
nate... Back · 21 years, 6 months ago
Umm.
Heh.
I'm pretty sure she meant she didn't understand the separation argument as it relates to Quebec.

Not that she didn't understand what song it was from.

;)
100% dainty! Back · 21 years, 6 months ago
It would be like little Quebec-babies all over the place! They'd be multiplying like Planaria when you split them between the eyes and they grow extra heads!! ooooh. . .does that mean we'd get more Quebec cheese? that would be a reason to allow the separation.
100% dainty! Back · 21 years, 6 months ago
dude. they did NOT break up. it's a HIATUS. :)
100% dainty! Back · 21 years, 6 months ago
well they'd still be really big, they just wouldn't be "first." but if russia keeps on shrinking. . . . .
nate... Back · 21 years, 6 months ago
hahahahah
:D

How many fruheads does it take to change a lightbulb?

None. They just sit there in the dark and insist that the bulb is on a "temporary hiatus".
*giggle*

Yvonne Back · 21 years, 6 months ago

Yeah, we wouldn't be really big anymore, and we'd literally be divided in half by another country, which would cause problems. I can see the maritimes trying to separate next, because their culture is quite different from the part of Canada west of Quebec, and without Quebec in the middle as a bridge it would really be like two different countries. I mean, the western and central provinces have more in common with their bordering U.S. states than with, say,Newfoundland.

I say Toronto should separate. The rest of Canada doesn't like us and it would solve the problems with tax dollars subsidizing the rest of Ontario.

*ducks to avoid being hit by fruit thrown by non-Torontonian Ontario residents on the board*

Bel kjfdxcvuyjh8 Back · 21 years, 6 months ago
Really big! Woo! I like living in a really BIG country! *snork*

Seriously, though, it'd be really cool if we were the biggest country in the world. I dunno why, but...
Bel kjfdxcvuyjh8 Back · 21 years, 6 months ago
That's actually pretty funny. :)
George E. Nowik · 21 years, 6 months ago

what a great many people do not realize is that quebec really is a fairly large province. outside of the major known cities like three rivers, montreal, quebec city, and the portions near ottawa, there are actually quite a large number of english speaking folk who don't know a word of french, don't really care for internal politics, and generally laugh at such things like the french police and whatnot.

if quebec were to split off, they would probably have the benefit of maintaining income based on its control of the primary run of the river but would suffer because of many large corporations pulling their business and commerce out and relocating to other places in canada. the major cities in quebec do a fantastic job of maintaining their identity and whatnot without the need of splitting off from a larger body of provinces; the chaos, anarchy, and such that would result from a split are really not worth it when looked at in the long run.

separatists would totally disagree with me, of course, but they're welcome to. :D there -is- life in quebec outside the major cities, tho. most of them just don't realize it.

nitsita Back · 21 years, 6 months ago

Yes indeed it would be :(

Me like being Canadian...

nitsita Back · 21 years, 6 months ago

Thank you, George.

And you know I agree with you completely.

Having grown up outside those three major cities, areas, whatever, and having seen what are some of the smallest villages in the province, it's _very_ obivous that there is life outside those places. And yeah. I'm a French-Canadian.I'm not um-employed, or smuggling cigarettes across the border. I don't drink Pepsi and maywest for breakfast. I don't watch hockey while doing.... *ahem* those of you who got that just there, I love you all dearly.

But I'm French-Candian more often than not. Or rather, I'm Qubcoise, but in a Canadian way. Not one of those very patriotic Quebecois...

But I _WILL_proudly sew both my province's and country's flags when I go back-packing next year, and I always celebrate la Saint-Jean-Baptiste :D

and you may not be able to turn right on a red light but you can go right through it! :D :D :D :D :D

there's nothing wrong at all with having pride for one's own state or province. texans regularly will display the texas state flag right there with the flag of the united states. nothing wrong with that at all. texas is kinda the quebec of the states: big, a little weird, and full of people who think they're their own country. heeheehee

-= george =-

hkath Back · 21 years, 6 months ago
Hee, even I celebrate la Saint-Jean whenever I can. They don't do big things anymore even in my hometown, so two years ago it involved driving around with my dad and singing along to Gerry Boulet with the windows rolled down, but hey :D
nate... Back · 21 years, 6 months ago
Wish I could take credit... but I got it from  A girl named Becca who got it from  One of several Lisas

:)
nitsita Back · 21 years, 6 months ago

We should get together sometime and celebrate :) Even if it's driving around singing Gerry Boulet with the windows rolled down :D

nitsita Back · 21 years, 6 months ago

> big, a little weird, and full of people who think they're their own country.

Yeah, I think that sounds about right :D

... and you dropped out a tabarnac in there :D (but tabarnac, we can go right tru dem!)... and it _is_ turd, not third!

I've heard about that place called "Kwu-beck" but don't ask me what that "Ca-beck" place is that I hear people talking about.

If I remember correctly, Texas also has the option to secede... or to split into up to five states. It stems from when they (as an independent republic) joined the Union.

Of course, this is also one of my dad's stories... and he's been wrong before.

jaye Back · 21 years, 6 months ago
but I got it from A girl named Becca who got it from One of several Lisas

for some reason, that strikes me as really amusing :D
