What did you think of the Academy awards?
Did you like it as entertainment?
Did you like the films they chose?
My favorite film Walk the Line was not nominated. My second choice Capote didn't win.
I would have preferred Phoenix to win best actor to Hoffman but I'm not complaining. They were both great.
I was of course happy to see Reese win Best Actress
The best part of the show was watching Nick Park and Steve Box accept the Best Animated Feature award for Wallace & Gromit in the Curse of the Were-Rabbit. They were so funny and charming.
I personally liked Steve Carell in the whiteface and pretty eyelashes, and Tom Hanks getting clubbed with the viola. Munich was the only movie of all the big ones I saw, so I didn't have anything in particular to root for, we just wanted to see Jon Stewart smirk.
I didn't see any of the movies, really. The awards part of it is kinda hard for me to say, in that light. BUT, I watched for Jon and I think he did a good job. :)

I thought Jon Stewart could have been a lot better.
The only category where I could really form any sort of opinion was Best Original Song, since they performed all three at the show. And I thought none of them was particularly good, but the one they chose as the winner was especially bad. And I was surprised Crash won Best Picture. It was the only one of the five I'd seen and while I liked it, it just didn't strike me as Best Picture material. Good movie, but it seemed to lack something. I really expected one of the others to win. At least no one film ran away with all the awards like in some years. It's nice to see balance. Or maybe it's universal mediocrity and just nothing stood out?
Park and Box were great, but I also enjoyed Clooney's acceptance speech - not exactly entertaining, but very classy. I was a fan. Oh, and the guys from March of the Penguins were adorable. I think I just enjoy foreigners with broken English accepting Oscars...my all-time favorite acceptance speech was Pedro Almodovar for the Talk to Her screenplay 3 years ago. So freaking cute. :)

Jon Stewart's rag on George Clooney for "Good Night and Good Luck" being Clooney's last thing he says on dates and a cut to George laughing away and then he gets this, "Hey, waitaminute..." look on his face.
George Clooney is now my hero. You must first create an account to post.
