. . aPARRENTly not.
Snow In Summer · 19 years, 3 months ago
Someone's bound to be offended because I opened my mouth, but I really can't stand children. I was the kid who would rather talk to the adults than "play with the other kids."
I've also found myself at that stage where I want to bitchslap teenagers in the mall & dropkick the screaming kids in the supermarket. I've become that person who makes loud comments about how some people should learn to control their kids in public places. The mere thought of actually having children makes me fully nauseous as well.

That's just me, though. :-D
Kris 'engaged' Bedient · 19 years, 3 months ago
I only have one, but if I manage to get a wedding ring anytime in the next ten years, I'd like to have some more. My son is so amazingly well behaved and just brightens my life.
Starfox Back · 19 years, 3 months ago
I'm in that category as well. Whenever I'm forced to visit the mall and see all the mutants, er, teenagers running around, I get an overwhelming urge to quote Denis Leary: "You don't know shit about shit and PULL UP YOUR PANTS!". Oh, and wondering if the kid pushing the baby in a stroller is the baby's parent or sibling is always fun.

I just wish kids would go from that cute-n-cuddly baby stage to the young-adult-with-something-halfway-interesting-to-say stage.

Kids, and more importantly their irresponsible parents annoying the living hell out of me. So I'll be right there applying for the job of Villiage Disciplinarian if Hillary Clinton's "It Takes a Villiage to Raise a Child" nonsense ever becomes institutionalized.

i'm a preschool teacher. i don't need any kids of my own right now. :)
lawrence · 19 years, 3 months ago
if, by some strange chance, I eventually decide I want less freedom in my life, and less time and money to spend on fun things, and if kids stop annoying me quite so much, I might consider adopting, but I will absolutely never have children of my own. there are already too many people in the world, and I'm not going to contribute to that.

Anything beyond cats is too much for me to handle.

It was and continues to be amazing to watch children grow. I have never ceased to learn something or other from watching them. What I taught them when they were young, they have repeated to me in my "lost" times when they are grown. They have brought me laughter in my lonely times and sometimes sorrow when I hurt for them in their loneliness. But they have always been my best friends and I am so proud of and grateful for God blessing me with them in my life. That is why I have a 6 yr old now in my life...I missed the grown ones as they have moved on in their lives. I thought...just one more blessing...and Nick has been proven to be that every day. I wouldn't change a thing. I willingly gave up my independence staying home with them all for their early yrs and then picking up a career in nursing when they were finally in school. No grandchildren yet...but I definately look forward to that day too. Different strokes for different folks.

Love ya all! Marylee

When I talk to teachers and they mention "their kids" I'm never sure if they mean their children or their students. I so often end up getting confused and having to ask.

Of course I talk call my students "my kids" and they are adults. Well sort of.
A girl named Becca Back · 19 years, 3 months ago
My kids [students] are only about 4-5 years younger than I am and I still call them my kids. So. Yeah.
A girl named Becca · 19 years, 3 months ago
I am not a parent (which is a very fortunate thing at this point in my life, of course), but I definitely would like to be one someday. Nearly 3 full months of teaching high school hasn't changed my mind, either. I think I have an over-developed maternal instinct - I kind of go crazy when I see small children. Of course, I go crazy in a very different way when I see my students' small children. Sigh.
goovie is married! Back · 19 years, 3 months ago
i also have an overdeveloped maternal instinct. BABIES!
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 19 years, 3 months ago
When I started teaching I was just about the same age as my students. One of them was actually in my high school class. She wasn't nice to me back then I'm sure she wasn't happy to find I was her teacher.
Gordondon son of Ethelred · 19 years, 3 months ago
I'm not a parent but my father and mother were. Does that count?
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 19 years, 3 months ago
But you'd be even more excited about muppet babies.
caroline: tired. · 19 years, 3 months ago
no. but i guess you figured that.

If you've got a well-behaved one, you might consider stopping at one...

Our first was (and is) an easy-going, well behaved boy (7 years old now). Our second, a 5 year-old girl,is a bit more willful. Our third, a 3 year-old boy,is from another planet entirely. He's a giant handful, but he's darn cute -which is whathas keptus from selling him to the circus (so far)... :-)

Other than Jill and Kat are there any others where both a parent and a child are on FHDC?
Andrea Krause Back · 19 years, 3 months ago
Melinda's mom used to hang out sometimes...and there were the Engles (miss them!).
sheryls Back · 19 years, 3 months ago
Are the Engles Kris and Kris's mom?
Andrea Krause Back · 19 years, 3 months ago
No...Tim and Robin Engle who were fruheads and had Sara and Kelsey as daughters. (Kelsey was a fruhead, not sure if Sara was or was just here for peoples.) If you ever hear the (i think) hoboken fruvous show where they joke about their bad language in front of a 10 year old right up front, that would be Kelsey. She's awesome. And it blows my mind that she's now about to turn 17.
nate... Back · 19 years, 3 months ago
Dude!
yeah!
I remember them...

Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 19 years, 3 months ago
I know them all but I haven't seen them around here in a long time. I talk to Robin Engles and she actually was on FHDC in the last 2 months but Kelsey and Sara haven't been around.
goovie is married! Back · 19 years, 3 months ago
kelsey is about to turn 17???

oh, good lord.
Mamalissa! · 19 years, 3 months ago
Not that I *know* of... heh heh heh.
Kris 'engaged' Bedient Back · 19 years, 3 months ago
it's a lot different, though, because yours are spaced 2 years apart. Any future child I might have would be at least 8 years removed from my first, so it's almost like a second only-child.
Snow In Summer Back · 19 years, 3 months ago

Who were the kids that used to dress as Larry & Barry for Halloween? I remember it was 2 boys... theysang "I Love my Boss" at FC3. Here's a pic.

Crap... I don't remember anything anymore.

Women are so irresponsible. Once the eggs are fertilized they lose interest. Oh wait, that's seahorses.

Dude? I don't even have to see the actual children to do that. All it takes is a little tiny astronaut jumsuit Halloween costume at Old Navy.
A girl named Becca Back · 19 years, 3 months ago
I definitely hear that.
Good point.
:)
Jan Klump Back · 19 years, 3 months ago
I don't come on much anymore, but I'm happy I did tonight -- as Melinda's mom and as both a happy mom and grandmom. Watching the grandkids grow and learn is as least as exciting as watching our daughters grow. Pretty fascinating and rewarding.
Gordondon son of Ethelred · 19 years, 3 months ago
I noticed none of the binary fission voters identified themselves.
Rachel Marie aka RAI Back · 19 years, 3 months ago
My mom is on FHDC (here), but hasn't been ON for five years. I just asked my mother why, and she says, "When did [Moxy Frvous] break up? Five years ago? I am very mad at them right now..."

Her logic is special.
Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 19 years, 3 months ago
Wasn't she suspicious of me at the Northstar show?
Rachel Marie aka RAI Back · 19 years, 3 months ago
Quite! But you are older than she is, and rather sketchy. ;o)
Gordondon son of Ethelred · 19 years, 3 months ago
While this was a lovely poll submitted by someone near and dear to me, isn't it time for a new poll?
Kimberly aka Kris's Mom · 19 years, 3 months ago
Just wanted to confirm that another parent still lurks among y'all. My kid's around here sometimes, too. My 21-year-old kid. Yikes.

Gordondon son of Ethelred Back · 19 years, 3 months ago
No way Kris is 21. Yikes!
