Interesting/Weird food combinations

I was at a friend's house on sautrday and someone left out Rice Krispies and Sprite. I thought it made for an interesting food combination. Just for fun. let's think of some interesting food combinations like Oreos in pickle juice and gravy.

Actually, Rice Krispies and Sprite have something in common - they make noise - crackling and fizzing.

How about coming up with foods that shouldn't have anything in common but they do.

Like sugar cookies and sprats - they both come in round tins.

Raisins in Sesame Oil.

Maybe Fruvous should write a song on this theme ;-}

Combine Jack Johnson's 'Banana Pancakes' with Weird Al's 'Taco Grande,' you get Grande Banana Taco Pancakes.

Rice Krispies add an interesting texture to a peanut butter sandwich. It is even better with Cocoa Krispies of course.

Most of of combinations involve peanut butter or chocolate.

I've put peanut butter in scrambled eggs.

My favorite summer drink is ice cream in iced coffee. I can't understand why this isn't a common drink. It is great. You don't need to use ice or sugar, just put the ice cream in the coffee.

Those peanut butter rice crispies combinations actually sound really tasty. :)

PB in scrambled eggs sounds nearly as disgusting as egg nog in scrambled eggs.  *shudder*

True story. My dad was on a camping trip, last day, almost out of food, so they combine what they had left. Hot PB and tuna fish.

A friend of mine used to eat Grape Nuts in Tang while camping.

Camping does not count.

How about Oreos and hot sauce. Washed down with Sake!

Chocolate lobster or chocolate and/on lobster. Also olives and peanut butter. Or peanut butter on a regular salad or macaroni salad.

A guy I used to date use to cut open a tomato put in cottage cheese (which is somewhat normal) then he would add a tablespoon or Helmann's mayo on top of that with salt and pepper. It was interesting that was for sure.

How about ice cream in tomato sauce?

Pickle-flavoured coffee (especially from Starbucks)

Bacon-flavoured Pop-Tarts.

On June 8th, for my brother's birthday, we went to Friendly's. My brother made an interesting cole slaw dish. We put in ketchup, cocktail sauce, soda, salt, pepper, Sweet & Low, and Tartar sauce.

Humpty Dumpty makes Sour Cream and Clam chips. :)

I'd like to try those since I'm already a fan of Sour Cream and Onion anything. Is Humpty Dumpty a store or is it a brand and can I find it in NY?

Don't know if you can find it in NY.... or if they even make them anymore! I just found by searching the web that the company was bought out by Old Dutch Foods in 2006... and on the Old Dutch website, I don't even find any mention of Humpty Dumpty. :(

It was actually a canadian company, but I could always find that flavor up in VT and NH.

At the last haliqua potluck I did a pita bread, falafel, baba ganoush with just a touch of tahini. It was really pretty tasty.

Goat cheese, marinated eggplant, pancetta, Kalamata olives, and arugula. It's pretty good as a pizza topping.

Hummus, Broccoli and Apricot Pizza.

That sounds pretty good too. Hell, almost anything is good on pizza.

Egg Cream Margherita with ketchup and soy sauce.

I recently invented the peanut butter omelet. I just make a three egg omelet and fold in three teaspoons of peanut butter. Everyone gets grossed out when they hear me say it was incredibly good. It tastes great and has an amazing texture. If you try it you might want to use less PB. I am particularly fond of it.

Pickles, oranges, and lemons in cole slaw.

Yogurt pizza (or do they have that?).

I was watching Rescue Me today and the black woman made a chocolate marshmallow pizza. I think that would overwhelm me.

I was at a buffet restaurant and made an..interesting dessert. Lemon zest and cucumber with chocolate ice cream. It's good, in an avant-garde gourmet sense.

Fried chicken and orange juice and/or coffee. Also Salsa and pudding together.

I thought this whole thread was for interesting/weird food combos that people have had or seen... but... it seems the originator of the thread is just making shit up that they've never tried.

It's a shame that this thread can't keep going cos I'm always thinking/hearing of new ones to post here and I usually don't like to post right after I posted last, but I was frustrated that the thread wasn't active.

Last week I was volunteering at WFUV. They had a breakfast buffet and I made myself an old favorite of mine, a peanut butter and bacon sandwich. I mentioned that I make peanut butter omelets to someone and Linda walked in and heard only that. She said, "Do you know what else is good? A peanut butter and bacon sandwich." She then went on to tell the story of how her teacher had the class try different weird food combinations. When she was done I showed her what I was eating. She couldn't believe it. She said I should try some apple or pineapple on it.

I keep my pizza cheese in the same drawer of the fridge as my breakfast fixings. I've been considering making a pizza omelet with Italian cheese mix and pizza sauce. Part of me thinks it makes a lot of sense and part of me thinks that it will end up in the garbage after one bite. Anyone think it would work?

     I've done that a number of times. It doesn't look appetizing, but it's quite tasty. And seriously? The guy who puts peanut butter in omelets is fearful of cheese and tomatoes?

I ha to work my nerve up to make a peanut butter omelet also. The sauce is the part that I afraid might have too strong a taste.
