I vote that he lets it expire every year because:

It's his only domain name still registered with Dotster.
The email address used to register the domain is long gone.
It costs $15/year to renew Dotster. "WTF," he thinks to himself, "who pays $15/year for a domain anymore?" It's only $6.99 with his other account.
Which reminds him, he should transfer it into the other account. Cool, log on, initiate transfer .. err.. domain key.. it's locked... transfer fee? Didn't I just pay? "I'm bored," he says, makes mental note to finish the transfer in a few days. Probably about 365.
From the depths of his darkened computer lair, he sees no seasons. He only knows that another year has passed by when FHDC bombs. He finds an odd comfort in the rhythmic cycle of time, and briefly reflects upon his own fragile mortality. What a beautiful existence we live. We, the humans.
